Historical Traveler Reviews of Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino Palm/Eagle Beach
Very Relaxing and unusual island
from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from a week vacation in Aruba. The island is very beautiful and relaxing. The water is on the cool side compared to Florida's warm waters and the wind was strong most of the day. We really enjoyed renting a 4x4 jeep and touring the east side of the island. It is so amazing to see the contrasts of desert to tropical beaches. The Marriott was a fine resort but our room had a strong odor. We were on the north end facing the lighthouse with a king deluxe suite with a wrap around balcony. I would suggest requesting the south end of the building. Our side was very noisy with deliveries and construction on the restaurant. The Marriott casino was small but we had lots of fun every night there. We tried some of the other casinos but liked the Marriott best. We had dinner at La Trattoria near the lighthouse. Go at 6:30 to see the sunset. We also ate at the Sunset Grill at the Radisson. This was very top notch, food and service. Other dining was at the Sunset Bistro on the beach (Phoenix) and Amazonia. The portions are huge and its very enjoyable. and entertaining. Don't know if we would go back since we saw everything but we did enjoy the island. Everyone is very friendly.
A Lovely honeymoon

My wife and I returned from our honeymoon to Aruba on June 2, 2003. Absolutely perfect. Aruba is a beautiful, peaceful, clean, safe island. The Aruba Stellaris Marriott is a great hotel. Service is magnificent. The staff goes to great lengths to make your stay every thing you have dreamed. Our only beef is that the island is expensive. There are alot of taxes especially associated with your hotel room. But what do you expect from an island that survives on tourism. The beaches are clean and clear and safe. No undertow at all. The secret to getting around is to take the bus. Taxis are VERY expensive. For $2 USD round trip, you can get around pretty easily. The food is good, although I regret not trying any authentic Aruba cuisine. You can pretty much find any type of food your heart desires there. It can be a little windy, but the breeze cools and refreshes. You must try the 4 hr ATV tour of the island. That was the highlite of the trip. You get your own ATV and just drive the island with your tour guide. Also ask for honeymooner specials when you go to the restaurants. We will definitely be back to Aruba.
I'm in love with Aruba

Just spent a fabulous week in Aruba. We stayed at the Aruba Marriott which had excellent service (highly recommend). We had an oceanview room on the 6th floor which allowed us to view the breathtaking sunsets. We did not do all-inclusive, Aruba has excellent restaurants that really are not more expensive than any high end restaurant in the States. Palm Beach was nice but make sure you get out and explore the island (we rented a car for two days for only $50). Manchebo and Baby beach were our favorites. If you plan to visit the North side of the island you'll need a jeep or sign up for a tour. The people of Aruba are some of the friendliest in the Caribbean-- can't wait to go back!
Honeymoon from Heaven!

Words can hardly desribe the honeymoon my husband and I took iN Aruba in August of 2003. The Marriott was absolutely wonderful. We opted to stay away from an all-inclusive plan, in fear we wouldn't get our moneys-worth--we wanted to go out to eat. And we did! Everyone who goes to Aruba has to eat a dinner at the Flying Fishbone--the most romantic dinner I have ever eaten in my life(and my husband and I are NOT romantic!) Our toes were touching the sand and the water was 2 feet from our table! The service was wonderful at the Marriott--when we checked in, a gentlemen brought us a refesjing fruit drink--I requested a high room so we could see out in the ocean---and she granted our request. The room had a large bathroom, was spacious, but nothing to die for---but the view was amazing--we had a great view of the pool and the aqua sea---every morning my husband would open the drapes and FROM LYING IN THE BED, I could see out into the sea. AMAZING!I guarantee of you stay here, you will not regret it---I beg my husband to watch the footage we took on video once a week!ONE suggustion, though---SAVE beofre you come! EVERYTHING is expensive!--BUT WOIRTH IT!
One happy island

We just returned from a week in Aruba and are already planning a return trip. We stayed at the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and it far surpassed our expectations. The room was spectacular ( we had ocean front deluxe); the people at the Marriott couldn't do enough for you. and the pool (swim up bar ) and the beach were beautiful . We also had some great meals...Madame Janette's was certainly the best food ( make reservations before you go-they book up early ); La Trattoria at the lighthouse was good food and definitely the most romantic ( eat outside and watch the sunset ); Pago pago at the Windham was also excellent. We are sorry to say that Tuscany at the Marriott did not impress us. We used the great bus system during the day and took cabs at night. You can go from any of the hotels to downtown for $2.00 roundtrip. A cab to anywhere always seemed to be $10.00 One of the shows that we saw was outstanding... The Latin Review at the Renaissance. The weather was 85 degrees every day and the constant breeze kept everything perfect. This was our second trip to Aruba ( the past few years we have gone to other islands) but we have decided to return to Aruba again next year with some friends and we will definitely stay at the Marriott.
Heaven on earth

The Aruba Marriott is absolutely fantastic! The rooms are beautiful, the staff could not be more accommodating, and everything was just fabulous. Most importantly, to me, was the fact that at nite, everything was quiet so that I could sleep. I've stayed at too many hotels that were so noisy that I was awake all nite. A truly great place to stay!
Great place for teen kids
from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent 10 days over Christmas and New Years. We had 2 rooms, we were traveling with our teenage children.
The Rooms- Nice, not great, no luxurious marble bathroom, but a large and clean room with a small terrace.
The Beach- Way ovcrowded. In order to get a shade hut on the beach you had to go down to the towel desk at 6:00am and get on line and wait for the towel desk to open at 7:30. We were told the line starts as early as 5:00am. If you came down anytime after 6:30am you would not get a shade hut. Now this was crazy!!! Great relaxing vacation waking up each day at 5:45am to wait in line for 1.5 hours to get a spot on the beach!!!
Casino- Small
Hotel Lobby- Nice not beautiful
Hotel Staff- Very friendly and helpful
Dining- Wonderful romantic restaurant on the beach for dinner called Simply Fish. Lunch at the beachside restaurant very slow.
Our teenagers had a fantastic time, tons of kids.
One Fantastic Honeymoon!

Don't expect to get a cheap vacation here, but why would you want to? It's paradise! The weather, the people, the island. The Marriott is a beautiful hotel on the best part of Palm Beach. The casino is small but fun, and it's open until 3am. Just don't be hungry because this hotel will only sell you a mediocre sandwich until 1am.
Wonderful experience

Best hotel on the island!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent 7 days (last week of Oct. '02) at the Marriot Resort for my honeymoon and had an incredible time. Easily the nicest hotel on the island with the best beach. The pool set up is equally nice and there were always chairs available at both the pool and beach. Not alot of kids, which was great for us. The hotel, pool and beach were beautiful and very clean. The staff was equally impressive...very courteous and attentive to detail. Restaurants were great...highly recommend Simply Fish (candlelight on the beach) and Tuscany's. Drinks and dinners can get to be expensive, so if you can set up an all-inclusive deal, I would highly recommend doing so. If you are one who likes to drink pool/beach-side all day and eat nice, you will definitely get your money's worth. There are nice restaurants in town, but we could have eaten at Simply Fish and Tuscany's every night. You won't regret choosing this hotel.
