Historical Traveler Reviews of Aruba Bucuti Beach Resort And Tara Beach Suites Oranjestad

Don't come to Aruba

from A TripAdvisor Member
Sure Bucuti is fine. And the beach is immaculate and the water beautiful. But the rest of Aruba is pretty disgusting and hard to distinguish from pictures of Afghanistan. My husband I spent the whole vacation wondering why anyone would choose to come here, or how other people could recommend this island to anyone else. We have visited the out islands of the Bahamas several times (Elbow Cay, Green Turtle Cay) and loved everything about it. We decided to try something new since it was hurricane season and COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED. If you consider yourself to have discriminating taste, go somewhere else. This place is like a big, brown, scrub-filled parking lot. And if you insist on coming, you might as well embrace the experience and stay at one of the huge highrise hotels. At least you wouldn't have much reason to venture off the property...

It's All About The Beach!!!

We spent the first 4 days of our honey moon at the Bucuti and we kinda wished we had stayed the whole time there. It really is all about the beach at Bucuti. A quiet and peaceful oasis on the best and largest beach in all of Aruba. Don't expect activities and entertainment for the family here, it's more like a couples haven, although there is a great restaurant on the premises. It's just a great spot to relax and get away from it all. We got a junior suite and it was very spacious with a great view. We had a great time and will defintely return here now that we know the difference.

Fantastic

Bucuti - 4/28/03 thru 5/2/03 The Bucuti is a great resort for couples looking to get away. Every faced was exactly what we were looking for on an anniversary trip. The location is ideal. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance and the cab ride is reasonable to almost any destination. The resort itself is perfect for a peaceful getaway. The beach has plenty of space but you don't feel as if you are on a deserted island. The staff is friendly and accommodating but not intrusive. The rooms had everything we needed and were clean and spacious.I guess the best review that I can give is that my wife and are definitely returning to Aruba and staying at the Bucuti.Note: If want pre-planned activities and water sports at your hotel or you are traveling with children I would not suggest the Bucuti as it is setup for peaceful couples get away.

A Great Stay at Bucuti

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at the Bucuti for 6 days. It was a great value. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are kept very clean. The grounds are kept up well also. There were very few children at this hotel. It really caters to honeymooners and couples who want a romantic getaway. We don't have kids yet, and wanted a nice quiet hotel, so this was great for us. My husband told them it was our anniversary, so we had a nice gift package of a bottle of champagne, snacks etc. in our room when we arrived. The managers come around each day and talk to the guests to make sure that all enjoy their stay. Activities desk and Front Desk staff were helpful with questions and suggestions. We weren't able to get a king bed because they are limited, but that was not a big deal. Beach is simply beautiful. Pirate's Nest food was OK. We got the daily breakfast with our package, but it's not really necessary. There are lots of places to eat on the island for good prices, and it's easy to get around in Aruba. Rent a car and see the beautiful island. It's worth it. Bucuti is across the street is the Alhambra Casino and a little shopping bazaar that's very convenient and downtown Oranjestad is not far either. Bucuti is on Eagle Beach, between Palm Beach and city of Oranjestad, so very near everything. Overall, Bucuti has good accomodations and is a great deal for price. Vacation at Bucuti was wonderful!

Bucuti Beach Resort - a Perfect getaway

from A TripAdvisor Member
Bucuti Beach Resort was everything we wanted and more. My wife and I just returned from a 6 day stay. Each morning, I would step outside onto our room's terrace and walk barefoot across a lush lawn to the beach, which is only a few feet away. The beach was quiet, beautiful and very uncrowded. There were always plenty of beach huts available - a must for my lightskinned Irish complexion. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times - each greeted us with a smile every day and knew us by name after just a few days.. Everything went smoothly from check in to check out and the room itself was very attractive although we didn't spend much time in it. Bucuti is perfect as a quiet resort, however the activities desk has brochures of island activities and can arrange your choice for you. The hotel actively promotes environmental care and recycling and offers guests the opportunity to mingle with staff on environmentally conscious programs. The Pirates Nest restaurant on the grounds was excellent - food as well as atmosphere - .it's right on the beach. We used the available computers at the resort every day to check in with family back home. Because the beach faces west, the sunset over the water each night was breathtaking. The entire Bucuti experience more than met our expectations in every regard and we look forward to returning soon to the Bucuti Beach Resort.

What a find!

from Hans50
My wife and I and our two grown kids stayed at the wonderful Bucuti for a week in December 2002. We loved it! Clean (very!), friendly, attentive to our needs, fantastic beach, wonderful bartenders and beach attendants, and a thoroughly knowledgeable staff. We will go back and recommend the Bucuti of anyone looking for a small European-style hotel on a great beach surrounded by absolutely fantastic restaurants.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!

We have stayed at Bucuti Beach 8 times and each time it gets better and better. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful, the beach is the best you have ever seen, the rooms are clean and quiet. A perfect getaway spot for a honeymoon or to just relax.

Tranquil and Beautiful

I stayed in one of the Beach Bungalow's, so I can only comment on those accomodations. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate our bungalow at 8.5. The only problem that we had while there was some minor construction noises. The staff was NOT surly, they were extremely friendly and always helpful. The Pirates Nest Bar was an excellent place to go for happy hour. The Bucuti was right across the street from the Al Hambra Casino. The Casino had good payouts as well. The nicest part about the Bucuti was hands down the BEACH!! This is by far the nicest/ least crowded beach on all of ARUBA! If you are looking for a quiet (KID FREE) getaway with the nicest private beach in Aruba then you'll need to stay at the Bucuti.

Wonderful, quiet hotel

from TeresaTennessee
This is a great hotel, especially if you are looking for a quiet restful place. I booked 3 rooms for my family (3 couples) and they were very nice & very clean. The staff was very helpful. The beach is beautiful, very wide and plenty of chairs. You can pick up a flag from the bar and put it upright in the sand when you would like service. They do not encourage children, since there are larger more active hotels that would be more entertaining for them. They will happily recommend good ones. It is across the street from a large casino. The French Steakhouse next door is excellent and reasonable for a 5 course meal w/ wine (29.00 per). We did not eat breakfast at the Bucuiti (buffet) it was a little steep for us since we are light breakfast eaters.

A great place to eat in town is The Driftwood (recommended by a staff member at the hotel).

Don't waste your money!!!!!!!!

What a disappointment. Dirty rooms, surly staff...I wouldn't wish my dreadful experience on anyone. How this place stays in business is a wonder to me. Save your money...sleep on the beach...you'll be better off!!!!
