We're having a great time in Bali - relaxation has been priority #1. We spent the first few days at a lovely beach resort in the south of Bali, lazing around in the pool, in the ocean, in the beach cabanas, and eating ourselves silly (though mainly fruit). It was a great few days. Our only outing from the confines of the resort was a trip to the "monkey temple" for sunset. I (Josh) had been here 11 years ago, and it was just as stunning this ...

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia:
On Sunday night Zac was rather unwell, we assume it was the meat we had that night for dinner, it was a bit rare. We drove to Ubud today. Zac slept on the way, and the majority of the day. We planned on going to the bat and elephant cave but I decided to stay at the hotel with Zac - I wasn't feeling that well myself. Later that night I went for a walk with mum, and we had dinner. I had fried chicken, it was very nice ...
Bali has some of the most interesting
fruit that we have tasted. Snakefruit – looks like snake skin. It
grows like a potato – underneath the soil and is shaped like a
clove of garlic – but tastes sweet. And finally there is durian –
we have smelled it since we arrived – it has a very strong odor.
So finally we tasted it – and even though we wanted to appreciate
it at least—really couldn't. I can't ...
... wreck sunk in 1942. Keeping moderate depth allowed us to stay underwater around an hour both dives. Diverse sponges and fish species were a reward for long drive.
There are traditional dance performances every evening in Ubud presenting Legong, Kecak dance and others. Ubud is a relaxing Mecca of art, seeded with galleries, dance performances, inspiring market and great location ideal as a base point for island exploration.

Ensuite direction Tampaksiring ...
... As a result of the size of the Indonesian archipelago and its geographic location in the Pacific Ocean, it has a much later monsoon season (rainy season) than continental Asia where the monsoon had passed before we arrived. There are two contributing factors to the filthy state of the Balinese beaches because of the rainy season. Firstly, the rainwater washes all of the garbage that is littered profusely from the villages at the center of the island (Bali ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chiapoe...
Lovina, Bali, Indonesia aguas... When we finally arrived, we relished the beautiful sight and embraced the churning mist. It felt very cooling after the long trek. As we returned to our car, I was happy to donate to the community collection and sign our names in the visitors' book. Our modest donation is so appreciated as abundance out here! Since our little detour took much longer than we expected, we had a lot of ground to cover before dinner. We drove on through the northern town of ...
