    The long & twisty slippery road

    ... go back the road I have just come and head up on a rather kind of island area and take a ferry across a short section of water. No ways was I doing that when for a few extra km there is a direct road.

    The road from here is the long and twisty coast road. If there is any single km which is straight then that is long. it is simply curve after curve and in this wet weather is extremely hard work.

    ... back to our room to chill and change before dinner. We decided to have dinner in the old town because it was our last night. So we walked around for a while trying to find somewhere that looked nice but not too exy either. We stumbled across a great little place called Temple. It was perfect!     ... spirits too much. First coffee stop was the excellent motorway services just after Ljubljana - temptingly good food, cheerful, helpful staff! Why can't GB manage this?

    A bit more motorway, then off on the 6 towards the Croatian border and our lunch stop in Rijeka. The city is an urban sprawl with a large port, noisy and busy but with some impressive, if somewhat faded, Italianate architecture.     ... scenery...well, at that speed I was not going to look around. I did stop a few times either due to fatigue or refuelling or to take a few pictures.
    I got into Rijeka in peak hour and had to deal with the heavy traffic but once out of the suburbs it wasn't long before I reached Opatia.

    ... had a lovely meal tonight (some of the best food we have had in Croatia) and then went for a walk around the town. Tonight is our last night in croatia a tomorrow we head off to Italy.

    This country is gorgeous and we have loved every minute of it. For anyone who has a travel bucket list - put it up towards the top!
