The Staff were wonderful and spoke English very well. They were helpful and the rooms were very clean and maintained impeccably. The pool is beautiful with a lovely view and ample space. There are baby pools and playgrounds for visitors with small kids. The Breakfast Buffet is an amazing spread with something for everyone.

After a lot of research we decided to stay at Aonang Villa Resort and we could not have chosen a better place! The resort is situated on the beach (only with a small pedestrian walk way separating the resort from the beach sand. The rooms were comfortable and the service friendly. There is a lovely pool with a bar inside the pool if you want to cool down with a cold one in your hand. The hotel offers spa treatments at very good prices and can also organise tours from the front desk.
The busy part of the village where all the restaurants and markets are, are about 100m down the walkway and quaint beach restaurant and a whole lot of beach massage "huts" are about 100m in the other direction down the beach.
We had a room with a sea and pool view. It's definitely one of the best located resorts in the village and would recommend it to all!

Location wins you over!
We stayed in the Ao Nang Villa over Christmas and New Year after a couple of days in the Shangri-La in Bangkok. I must say this did spoil us a bit and I remember thinking the room was a little basic when we arrived in Krabi, but then I remember arriving the year before thinking how lovely the room was, so it was definitely the Sangri-La spoling us!
All deluxe rooms have a tiled floor, ensuite bathroom, vanity table, safe, cupboard, minibar, balcony with two chairs and a table, an armchair inside and TV with a few decent channels to endure the rain (if you get any at all!)
Now remember why you're in Krabi - perhaps one of the most beautiful places on Earth - so don't get hung up too much on the hotel or amenities - if you're not on the water every day, you should be in the rainforest. This isn't the place to be relaxing by the pool! Saying that, the two pools the hotel has to offer are great for every traveller - generally one pool has kids, the other is quieter. Both are a good size and the Dolphin pool has a bar with stools inside the pool. Both pools are also 30 seconds walk to the beach.
Food was pretty good. They do a nice breakfast buffet with everything from bacon and eggs to stir fried chilli chicken! Lunch at the pool restaurant is great, make sure you ask for the main menu and not the pool bar menu - they're happy to cook you up a green curry in the middle of the day if you ask nicely! We had one evening meal at the hotel, it was alright but the waiter got all three of my dishses wrong (and my drinks!) so we decided not to bother again. There's not much point eating anywhere twice in Ao Nang as there's such a great deal of choice.
Make sure you do a few boat trips to Hong Island and Phi Phi - don't listen to people who say Phi Phi is too commercialised - my girlfriend and I were both warned away from it but we thought we'd make our own opinions and we now class this as one of our wonders of the world - it's a beautiful island and we'd recommend a day and night there to anybody.
Make the most of this beautiful town in the next couple of years - I've been two years on the trot and feel it's becoming more and more 'resorty' - it'll be Phuket in a few years time!
Oh - miss the entertainment at the Ao Nang Villa - it's appalling!
Lovely hotel, great location, very few tiny criticisms
We stayed at Ao Nang villa on arrival in Thailand. It was our first stop after flying from London to Bangkok and Bangkok to Krabi. We were so relieved to have picked such a lovely resort. The location is excellent (much better than I had thought from their website). It is right on the beach (which isn't great from a bathing view but is pleasant to look at). The restaurant looks over the beach and the breakfast was of a high quality with a broad selection of foods to suit a variety of nationalities. We ate at the restaurant one night; sitting on the lawn under fairy lights, listening to a live band singing western classics (a little flatly). We would recommend eating there one night for the ambience and the excellent, attentive service and the perfectly acceptable food Mostly the staff was helpful and warm with the only exception of the receptionists who were a little abrupt. Partly I think this was because of their poor English (though it was far superior to our Thai) and partly because they are so busy and the resort is so popular that they don't have to make much of an effort. There were very few Brits staying at the hotel (which we considered a good thing); it seems very popular with Scandinavians who appeared to have travelled with Thompson group although there was little evidence of organised tours etc. Our bedroom was very pleasant although we had to walk a somewhat smelly route around the back of the hotel to reach our "garden view" deluxe. The room was however very clean - although without the tea/coffee facilities which were of no concern to us. Also there were no robes but this also wasn't a problem. Other slight criticisms were that there was no double bed and a very slightly musty smell on entering the room because the air condition switches off when the room isn't in use. We would definitely return to the Ao Nang Villa and in fact, attempted to do so later on in the holiday but it was fully booked. We had a lovely time, lazing around their two pools, walking around the tasteful complex and gaining very easy access to the beach and main tourist areas. My criticisms are really just nit-picks not serious concerns.
More like blackpool
My parter and i spent 3 weeks travelling around krabi and trang and i am thankful we only spent one night in ao nang and this hotel. There is nothing awful about this place but i felt like i was in a travelodge in blackpool than in stunning thailand
I have just returned from a 4 night break at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the hotel facilites are good with 2 pools and a poolside bar, a couple of restaurants and spa. We stayed in a Superior room which overlooked the pool. The room was large and nicely decorated, there was no tea/coffee facilites but we didnt find it a problem. The location of the hotel was perfect, right on Ao Nang beach, there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. An enjoyable stay, definitely recommended.
Great value and service at Ao Nang Villa Resort
We spent 3 nights at the Ao Nanag Villa Resort in October 2005, and we wish we would have planned to stay longer. The service was outstanding and the rooms exceeded expectations. We had a deluxe room located along side the pool, and it was awesome. The location of the hotel makes it easy to walk to the beach and for shopping.
Krabi trip - Aonang villa resort
well, i just came back from krabi. stayed at aonang villa. overall, it's average to me. But the environment is peaceful and quiet. The room is big & spacious. But a pity the bed mattresses were too hard for me, so hard that i got back ache the next day, (prob i'm just not used to it..) A bit of a problem cos they dun have electric kettle in the room (for you to boil some hot water to brew hot coffee/tea any time u wan). So far, the resorts I've been to, provided these in the rooms, so i'm pretty surprised this time at this exception. I was glad they provided one at my request, but i returned back after one use. The water was filled with white particles coming off from the inside of the kettle, that i decided to give up using it. :( But i must give credit to the staff who were ever so patient to bring hotwater for me every night when i ask for it. Most rooms comes with twin sharing beds, very few have double beds. when my husband and I ask for double bed, they couldn't give us and they have to send staff to shift the furniture to combine the two single beds to a "look alike" double bed! Breakfast is alright, but we had most of our meals outside along aonang beach cos it;s cheaper at the restaurants along the beach, and good thai food! That's prob the only good part about staying at Aonang villa - its central accessibility to the nearby shops, restaurants, pubs and the beach (though im really disappointed with the beach at aonang.. u won't wanna even sun bath there on the beach.. overall, an average villa if you are talking about their facilities, but worthconsidering if u are looking for a resort that is accessible to the nearby shops and facilities within minutes walk, provides patient and helpful service, nice environment & friendly staff. :O)
Peaceful and relaxing
We stayed at the Ao Nang Villa Resort in 2004 and 2005 and hopefully will be going back again in 2006. A lovely relaxing place to stay with very friendly hotel staff and excellent accommodation. At night we loved walking along the sea front looking at the shops and restaurants and choosing somewhere different each night to eat. We have are own 'special bench' which is our special place to sit at the end of the day watching the longtail boats taking late night visitors across to the islands. It is very difficult to explain how quiet and friendly Ao Nang is but if you get a chance to visit do go and see for yourselves. My partner and I both work long hours so to be able to stay in a good hotel with really helpful staff and enjoy such beautiful surroundings was the best holiday tonic anyone could ask for. See you in March 2006 at Ao Nang Villa Resort. ERIC AND FLO.
Excellent Just Like Mr Chan said
Two of our tour groups selected Aonang Villa at the recommendation of Mr. William Chan's review.
Everyone was impressed. It is a wonderful hotel, good service and great room.
Just like our fellow countryman, Mr. Chan said. Thanks.
Fantastic Aonang Villa, The place to stay!
From the point of reservation, welcoming, check in to the actual in house stay, it has been great and fantastic!
Although it is a large hotel, yet the staff were able to make me feel like a VIP and pampered me with the warmest service I have ever encountered as a frequent traveller elsewhere!
The front office staff were outstanding. The housekeeping staff excellant and the restaurant staff were warm and helpful.
My room was large, beautiful, with generous supply of guest amenities. And a wonderful view of the mountains, coconut palms, the sea and the white sand . Right below my balcony is the lush tropical garden and pond, heavenly!
There are 2 large swimming pools amidst it's tropical gardens and water landscape.
The restaurant served the freshest sea food and a generous healthy breakfast bufftet spread.
The resort is right on the beach, quiet spot, yet a easy 2 minutes walk to the road transports and boat pick up points to all the sightseeing and islands hopping. All the restaurants, shops, ATM, travel agencies and the whole Aonang beach strip is a five minutes walk.
I have already reserved to come back to stay at the Aonang Villa again - William Chan
Amazing Hotel in a Great Resort
This hotel was a great surprise - we were expecting something a little less luxurious, but when we arrived late at night, in the pitch black we found a big, gorgeous room, a mini bar with cold Thai beer after long and hot transfer from Bangkok, and from sitting on our balcony we could hear the waves lapping at the shore.
Even more surprising was getting up the next morning, opening our curtains to find a massive sandstone momolithic cliff protecting our hotel and cove! Absolutely beautiful. One of the best holiday memories ever.
Staff were very friendly, breakfasts were very good, although only meal we ate in the hotel itself. Excellent location, wandering out of the hotel and straight into the small shops and restaurants of Krabi.
Plenty of eating and drinking palces in Krabi itself, all have a really laid back atmosphere and stay open till late. Great excursions too. Own beach not so great for swimming due to the amount of long tail boats operating, but hire one and go round the corner to Raleigh beach which is superb.
Highly recommended all round!

It turned out the next day we were the only ones so basically we had a private car and driver for the whole day who took us wherever we wanted to go which was an amazing way for us to see lots in one day and find out a bit about the locals, the climate as well as farming rice. The driver told us that most workers come from Java, the main island in Indonesia and around 4 million people live on Bali which explains the huge traffic problem they seem to have. He said the rice ...
