    ... is half an hour's drive, and right next to the airport. We have a nice surprise as we are upgraded to suites when we book in. The Raffles Gateway Hotel is supposedly only 3 stars but is very comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. That includes a big pool, water slide and hot spa. Alan & Tony tried all 3, but the girls missed out ...

    ... are very welcoming and always greet you with 'Bula' which has several different meanings- hello, welcome, cheers, bless you etc after the beach we headed to a huge sand dune where we took turns to sand board- apparently this is an exclusive sand boarding spot for our tour company and the only other use it gets is for training purposes for the Fijian rugby players- walking up it twice was killer I can't imagine how the rugby players run up and down it ten times!! ...

    ... gone and 3 dogs take pride of place. It was really just a week of relaxing in hammocks but we did find time to go sea angling (which we then cooked up and ate in our guide's home in his village), shark snorkelling (ok, so the sharks didn't come very close but still saw a few), kayaking around the bay, jungle trekking to remote island waterfalls and some more scone eating.

    ... but I stuck to Shandies. Yeah I'm not a true Aussie, don't like beer much.
    The islanders entertained us with a game of beach volleyball, then it was time to go back on the boat to the ship. We were entertained again by singing and dancing of these friendly lovely people.
    I will certainly remember this day as the next one was long and tedious flying back on 3 separate planes to Wellington.
