Sehr empfehlenswert!!!

This is a luxury stay with delicious food and wonderful grounds with tropical gardens, right along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The hotel has both modern and traditional Thai influences and water flowing both inside and outside the hotel. The staff is superb and will take care of your every need. You can book tours from the concierge and take the harbor boat down the river to go to dinner in town or to see dancing or thai kickboxing. There seem to be a lot of honeymooners and weddings that take place here, and there is nightly entertainment by musicians and traditional Thai dancers who showcase regional dances of the country.

Historical Traveler Reviews Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa

      Excellent trip--wonderful breakfast!

An excellent visit for 3 nights at this fine resort. From the wonderful room to the beautiful river out in front, it was a pleasure staying there again. This is our second visit in two years at this resort and it was superb. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was great and very nice. There is a Benihana Restaurant downstairs that offers all-you-can-eat lunch and it is very good and inexpensive. Recommend eating meals off-property as the other meals can be quite expensive. There is a wonderful little mall next door that has numerous great little restaurants (incl. McDonalds), that you can save lots of money. You can also get a massage for $12US in this mall for an hour. The hotels spa prices are too high. Anyway , a great hotel to stay at!! Highly recommend.....Take a Taxi from the airport (go to taxi stand-a must), and the trip is cheap!! Enjoy the pools!

The Marriott Resort & Spa in Bangkok is an excellent hotel.

The staff are really friendly and efficient.

The hotel is spotless, maid service is really good.

The hotel has many restaurants, the breakfast buffet was very good although as we paid around £9 per head for it (booking via a travel agent in the UK) it probably wasn't very good value for money by Thailand standards. We received a free evening meal while staying there - an open air buffet with just about every style of cuisine you could think of cooked there and then to your instructions - thai, chinese, indian, sushi, seafood, japanese.....

The pool area and gardens are beautiful and as it is away from central Bangkok and on the river its very quiet.

One of the best bits is the shuttle boat which runs every 15 mins up the river, towards the express boat pier and sky train. On the boat on the way back to the hotel everyone was offered scented iced towels and bottled water.

I would definately stay here again if returning to Bangkok.

      Excellent hotel

Stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights in September and found the staff very friendly, excellent service and excellent rooms. We stayed in a deluxe river room and views were fantastic. On site restaurants were very good and not as expensive as we had expected particularly the Chinese.

Pool area and gardens were very relaxing.

The complimentary shuttle boat to the Skytrain was an added bonus and getting downtown did not take any longer than on previous stays at more central hotels.

Would definately stay at the Marriott on next visit to Bangkok and will recommend to others.

One of the best Marriotts I have ever stayed at. Truly amazing in every way. I will be back.

Enjoy the lap of luxury without high prices.

What a delightful place this is! Beautiful rooms, serene garden environment, lovely and helpful service, gorgeous views, terrific pool ... and the spa is truly outstanding. One of the top places I've ever stayed in terms of luxury, service, and just overall terrific experience. I highly recommend. I would (and hope to!) return .... again and again. Restaurants on site aren't bad, particularly if you are working as I was (which meant leaving early early am and coming back late at night), leaving not much time for nightlife but still a desire to have a small escape from IMPACT center. The Chinese restaurant there is especially notable and the breakfasts were always good. Another bonus: the shopping center connected to hotel stays open late - there's a Boots (chemists) which is handy for aspirin and necessities and such; a shop where you can get custom-made shoes at fantastic prices; and a homegoods store - Vangelis -that offers brilliant furniture and furnishings. This hotel definitely adds to the Bangkok experience - grab at it!

      Amazing Hotel

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We stopped off here for three nights on our way to Sydney and had a wonderful time. There is 10 restaurants in this hotel and a beautiful spa. The staff are terrific and extremely friendly. If you can get a Deluxe river view room, it was so spacious and romantic. I would have to say that this hotel is easily up there with Ashford Castle, Co Mayo for sheer luxury and I can't reccommend it enough.

      Peaceful, Perfect Resort Hotel

This hotel was one of the best we have ever stayed at during our numerous travels. It is located on the river and it is an oasis in the dusty city of Bangkok. You have to take a boat shuttle (free) to the central part of the city. This takes approximately 20 minutes each way, but the ride is relaxing. You can get off the boat at any of several stops. You can also get to the hotel by taxi, etc; but it takes longer.

The staff was perfect. The hotel clean and beautiful...acres of gardens. It may be down the river a way from the central part of Bangkok, but it is still located in a metropolitan part of Bangkok. The pool was outstanding. The breakfast was the best-of-the-best.

When we return to Bangkok, we will once again stay at the Marriott Resort & Spa.

      Lovely retreat with good spa

One of the best four star hotels in Bangkok. It's a bit outside the city centre, but that doesn't matter at all. There is a regular ferry boat. The buildings of the hotel are surrounded by lovely gardens and the spa is fantastic as well. All in all a very romantic and quiet setting. A pity that the airconditioning in the rooms is very noisy and that the rooms themselves lack atmosphere and style.

      Absolutely wonderful

Most people dislike Bangkok. We adored our stay in the capital, and truly believe the Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa is the reason why. This hotel was wonderdul and we are convinced we will never ever find an hotel we will like as much! (and incredible but true, our room was $100/night). This magnificient hotel is located down the river, away from the busy heart of Bangkok. The free boat shuttle ride was so lovely, and provided a nice relaxing ride. The boat ride was only fifteen minutes long and brought us right in the heart of public transportation (sky train, long-tail boats). The service at the hotel was impeccable, the food wonderful, and the concierge services excellent. We only had three nights in Bangkok, but neither my husband nor I wanted to leave. If we had to find one thing the hotel could improve, it would be to heat the water of their beautiful pool (we were visiting in February).

      Sublime oasis

visited in feb 2004..nice resort setting..a good choice if you have already been to oriental and peninsula hotels and want a change..pool surrounded by lush greenery gives one a sense of being on an island even though you are in midst of chaotic city of bangkok..the complimentary boat to the peninsula and oriental is lots of fun with complimentary drinking chilled mineral water and cold towels to beat the humidity..the inside of the hotel has a colonial feel to it much like the Raffles in singapore..front desk staff very professional and courteous..recd all my faxes and international phone messages curry at the in house restuarant is great..mercedes airport transfers were efficient and on time ($65 round trip)..might sound expensive compared to regular airport cabs but the service made up for it..being a woman myself i felt quite comfortable with the female drivers since my flight from usa landed in middle of the night and return flight was very early in the morning and marriott is quite a distance from the airport..overall a very pleasant was awesome and reasonably priced for a five star hotel..great hotel for both business and personal travellers.

So it was time for us to brave the tourist sights on our own.
We failed at the first hurdle by getting a taxi to Wat Arun (temple of the dawn) but I wasn't even sure he'd dropped us at the right place! The steps weren't just steep as advised on trip advisor they were ridiculously narrow but the view across the river was pretty cool. We could …
