Where we stayed - Ramada Maingate West - A dated but decent hotel. See my review on Trip Advisor.
Things we did So we did all the main things. All the Disney parks, Universal, Busch Gardens. Seaworld and Nasa. The Disney Parks are busy all the time, but well worth a visit. Epcot is a bit dated, seems as though Disney are neglecting it. …

Hollywood Studios! The first one.
... either. Cameras were everywhere. (It makes really hard to focus. Have you ever tried to watch a giant screen and on stage performance at the same time? Jeez.) Granted, it was an overly acted, super short, definitely B-movie, but it was a movie just the same. Bring your kids; they might just get picked to "drive" a real life car.

Historical Traveler Reviews Ramada Maingate West Kissimmee
Nice vacation nice price
We stayed here for three day about two weeks ago. I was very pleased with resort over all. The staff is very nice. We had a blast with John the bartender. They even have a mini Pizza Hut right there. The pizza was great . Rooms are very nice for the price. I will stay here again next year.
Enjoyed the vacation.
It was a nice place but there was somethings that could be changed. They could moved the restaraunt away from the pool area. You don't want to smell or see anyone in the pool while you are trying to eat. And, for as the karocko goes that needs to in a place of it's own. No one wants to hear that while they are trying to sleep. They just need to move all of those things in a place of it's own. Expand the place and it will be a nice place to visit. In my room there was a lamp that had some electrical tape on it and thats dangerous for children to be around.
This place really is a dump
I went through 6 rooms to find one whose smell i could tolerate. The place reeks of mold, mildew, chlorine, or some other smell. (There were two others trying to change rooms the same time I was.) Outside secruity is a joke
The Price Was Right!!
The inside pool area was incredible along with the hottub. There was a Pizza Hut Express on the pool deck and Karaoke singing from 9-11 P.M.. The outside pool was huge but we were not able to use it because the weather was a bit cool. The rooms are typical of any hotel; well maintained and very clean. Staff and housekeeping were courteous.
I have 2 teens and both of them really enjoyed the facilities. My wife & I would definitely return here again.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!
AmeriHost Great Fun
I've been to the AmeriHost for the last seven years. I'd say there have been some great improvements to their look and staff. Rockin Robin is great entertainment for the whole family. I know that there are certain families and groups that visit on a yearly basis that ask if she is still their because they look forward to the entertainemnt she provides. As far as the locals go I understand that you have a right to the entertainment but really this is a resort and people are on Vacation give them a chance in they're short stay to be the first to sing, you have all year.
Is a good Deal andd Very Close to Disney
My husband and I stayed there about 2 weeks ago and we are staying there this saturday with my parents. It's a good deal and even though it's not brand new most of the hotels in that area aren't.(Unless you want to stay far away from the parks.) They were curtious and polite. But if you do have a room on the inside facing the indoor pool you'll have to listen to Kareoke until about 10pm. But that was pretty funny anyway. And who goes to bed earlier in Orlando anyway. I geuss the people who gave bad comments are used to shelling out big bucks for five star hotels. Anyway it's nice and I had fun.
My Kids and I Love It Here
After seeing the bad reviews given this hotel, I feel compelled to rebut.
I come to Orlando every year and we stayed in many other similar priced Hotels until we found the Amerihost (formerly Diplomat). The people are some of the most helpful I've had the pleasure to meet. The Indoor pool is always the right temperature and unlike the other review, I've never found it to have too much Chlorine. The outdoor pool is gorgeous and the sand beach is a nice touch.
The Karaoke is lots of fun. The bar is cool. There are activities for the kids, my Son Loves the game room.
And it is wicked close to the Disney Parks. What more do you want?
Amerihoax!! This place is a dump.
Where is the place pictured on the pamplet we got?? The Amerihost looked more like a run down Motel Six. The pools were always overcrowded and we ate at the "resort's" restaraunt which I definitely would not recommend. The Buffet was 10.95 a person and advertised prime rib, fried chicken and fresh ham. I could not find prime rib on the buffet, the only beef product even on the buffet was what appeared to be a burnt hamburger soaking in hot dog juice. What a joke!! There was not hardly anything on it, the dessert advertised turned out to be chocolate and vanilla pudding.
The staff at the "resort"was rude and acted like our visit was an inconvenience. We talked to two other families in town that switched motels after their arrival. We should have done the same. We will never go back and will reccomend that none of our friends waste there time or money at this "resort." I also whould like to know what it takes to be classified as a resort, I am just surprised this dump does not have hourly rates.
NEVER AGAIN !!
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The water dripped, when we asked to have it fixed..
1. it was still dripping, although they evidently came to
the room( mind you we have a water shortage). 2. the 2nd time they came we had NO water they turned it off totally. they got it right the 3rd time!!
We ate in the restaurant. We had 3 children and 2 adults. The first night it cost us ( it was all you can eat) $31.89 the waitress added her tip to the total, charged extra for drinks, etc . The 2nd night (all you can eat) our bill
came to $22.40 ( go figure). It seems the waitress' and waiters charge their OWN prices!!
NEVER AGAIN !!!
Not a happy camper
We stay at the Diplomat on 6/16-17/02. After calling a few weeks ahead of time and requesting a room close to the elevators, due to a disability, we had a very long walk to the elevators. The room smelled of mold. The pool had way too much clorine. The karoke prevented any sleeping before 11:00 pm in the inside rooms. Also there is too much space between staircases in my opinion, in case of a fire.
We will not stay here again.
