... although at present it is supposed to be illegal and travellers apparently get stung for bribes when caught with it.
We wandered around town and played with giant white, hairy rabbits which for the record had nothing to do with the charas.
Manali itself is popular with Indian holidaymakers and there's lots of adventure activities on offer like zorbing and even yak skiing? but we were more into the survival sport of shopping for clothing to keep us ...
... stretched his back out, and fed him sweets (he also fed me, so i wasn't too jealous...).
So far, our days have been really relaxing and lazy up here. We've been reading books like crazy and catching up on our sleep. There are lots of good little restaurants up here, and it's been nice to consider a 3 dollar meal "pricey". The last few days we went hiking around, and also went up to Rohtang Pass. We took a bus up to the Pass, and along the way ...
... is nice, the food is great.... you know I've actually lost a few pounds? And it's not because I'm not eating, I'm actually eating healthier here than I have in my entire life.
We went to see the Dalai Lama's residence which wasn't as impressive as I thought but still lovely. It has a couple of temples inside where he does his meet and greets. Of course monks are everywhere and I really love being around them. They have such a ...
... more bombs had gone off. Now we were all really frightened. We called all of our friends who had stayed in Delhi over the weekend to make sure that they were safe. All of them had thankfully made it back to their apartments safely. We all decided that we didn't want to go back to Delhi the next day, and would cancel out bus tickets in the morning. The next morning I woke up at 7 and was very restless. I decided to go for a walk to try to find a ...

There is more to be experienced here tomorrow - walking, rafting and maybe even ZORBING before heading on again. Can't wait! PS - special mention to my peeps at or heading to Glastonbury for the festival this weekend. Depite all my conjecture about travelling, there really is only one place to be on the planet this weekend and that is the Vale of Avalon. ENJOY you lucky people, hope JZ rocks the joint! Peace out.
Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India robdy2kour city sight seeing included Hidimba temple, what i had seen in 1991 was quite rural compared to this new avatar. lot of development ,and more disciplined darshan,we clicked lot of photos with Lamb and the famous Yak and a Hare to count too, they were specially there for the sole purpose of tourist gimmick, and little earning for the tribals. we thorougly enjoyed the photo session.
Manali, India mayli... kilometres. Browns, purples and greens of many different hues were on display; hues which changed by the minute with changes in sunlight and cloud-cover. And the shapes were just as varied. At times it brought back memories of driving through Zion National Park in Utah, USA. At others, the snow, glacial presence and crystal-blue, mineral-rich lakes were more reminiscent of Banff and Jasper in Canada. At lower altitudes when craggy rock was covered by sparse vegetation, it ...
Manali, India ianr... inside and within minutes I was on a rehydration drip. I stayed there for 7 hours and they gave me all sorts of injections including a range of antibiotics. The drip took so long because of my low blood pressure as a result of dehydration. I vomited green goo and the dr inspected it shaking her head saying 'stomach infection', then she injected me with anti-nausea medication. The drip was very painful and they had to change it to 3 ...

Hopefully the Indian and Pakistani armies are not lobbing shells across the road at each other, as they are sometimes wont to do. . Either way, I go with no fear, what is is what is, and it is not our place to worry about what might or could be. Stay tuned, there will be lots of pictures from there.
Dharamshala (Mcleodganj), India bloomer... up first (Jamie and I thought phewww as he got the craziest guy there!) We watched as all the colour drained from his face as he legged it down the hill and then suddenly he was off swinging above the trees! Next was me which left Jamie standing alone again with the white face. I was strapped in and looking at the paraglide thing to see if it looked strong - it looked kinda small and I was not convinced! The next minute i'm told to run down the mountain so ...
