    ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

    ... passengers from Lake Champlain to Troy, New York in 24 hours by fast relays.
    There is not, however, a lot for tourists. They don't even want you to bring your trash..... we cannot find a single trash can in any parks nearby and they state "no boat trash". There are two pubs in the historic area but we didn't feel like being inside, so we will eat on the boat. With a police station right in front of us we are not expecting any strange happenings ...

    ... I had the right directions and met him at a Stewart's where we got more directions. When we got there, it turned out it was the wrong boat launch so, after looking at my map, Otto found the right direction and we were off in our kayak/canoe convoy.     ... and that was after Alex bounced into me and almost knocked me overboard. Fortunately, I was able to stay in the boat. No one would have ever believed he was the cause. A couple times we entered areas of the river where all was calm and swimming was permitted.
