Around Panglao there is a great reef with a wall that drops all between 18- 45 m full with beautiful corals and a multitude of fish and other sea organisms such as shrimps crabs, sea horses, various eels, urchins, sea cucumber, snakes, etc. Kerstin was snorkeling and Andreas was diving. The visibility has varied somewhat but usually 15 m. Amazing world under ...

... obviously enables them to ingest food. They are filter feeders who eat zooplankton and small fish by sucking water through their large mouth and then expelling it through their gills. It seemed like they were going to eat us but then they just changed their direction and kept on swimming somewhere else. They didnīt care about us at all and perceived us as an unimportant floating object in the water. The only potentially dangerous part of their body was their tail. While turning ...

Travelled by fast Cat ferry from Cebu City to Bohol Island that has been seriously effected by first a earthquake then the super typhoon. Coming here to see the extent of the damage and the receptivity of communities to plan for development with a preparedness emphases. As we saw the need for this in Atipo Comates and talking with Drs Bill and Rhodora started to plan how we would adapt the CHE program in this direction. Naomi took us around to the areas where they ...

It was pretty easy to get to Bohol. It just took a bit of time...A boat took us from Siquijor to Dumeguete (third visit) and then on to Tagbilaran in Bohol. Very straight forward and with the boat being a fast air conditioned container showing a film it felt more like being on a plane ride. Once in Tagbilaran, we obtained ourselves what seemed to be the slowest tricycle in the Philippines that eventually got us to Panglao Island, the tourist hotspot on Bohol, famed for ...

      Not so Good Friday

A travel blog entry by baliblisters on Apr 06, 2012

... Unfortunately, music has only limited powers against
      unwanted smells....

soon arrived in Oslob, to queues of traffic and hordes of people,
totally different from our previous visit. Due to the crowds we had a
two hour wait for a boat ticket before giving in and deciding just to
swim out. Women here very rarely swim in anything less than shorts
and t-shirts so not wishing to horrify anyone with my bum (offensive
at the best of times!) I ...
