... tat shops, clothes shops, hotels and guest houses. Plenty to keep you occupied if you fancied mooching around. Difficult not to get distracted by all the shops each time we went in search of a place to eat!
Ubud itself is very busy and very touristy but not in a bad way. Surrounding Ubud there are temples and ancient sites as well as beautiful countryside with rice paddies and palm trees.

We grabbed a cab back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and meet our driver, whose name I forget, but he was also a former Intrepid guide who spoke excellent English so we were able to ask him unanswered questions about Indonesia. Glad to get to the relatively sane roads of Ubud at 5.50pm. Just in time to drop my bags and get to the first Intrepid meeting for 6 pm !
night markets were a bit raw for a newby. Ate a mixture of Indonesian foods as a group and tried each others food out. facinated by my neighbours fish which had eyes and teeth, scales ,fins and tail ! I sware it was smiling at me Lol !

David reluctantly acceded to his wife's request to go with the buffet. Susie had various salads for starters, David had a bread roll!
