Wonderful, friendly staff. A quiet place to sleep too

This hotel was a surprise because, when we saw that our room was located near the road and a gate, we thought it would be noisy. We were wrong. The room was wonderful and quiet. The staff were great, particularly the young lady on the front desk with hoop ear-rings. There is also free wifi and a pool. The only small problems are the rooms, which are quite dark and do not have any natural light. Also in the bathroom, there is really nowhere to put anything, and the shower head is quite unusual. The beds are very soft too which some people may love but others may have a problem with. Overall, the good definitely outweighs the bad, and this is a great and cheap place to stay in Palm Springs.

Today we picked up the hire car, Bob wanted a convertible and after some strongly worded threats from me when they informed us they had run out of convertibles, despite us pre-booking it a month ago........he got his car!! ... I loathe that sort of driving and the only way through it for me is to shut my eyes.

Golly it was hot. And got hotter by the hour as we left the wonderful sea breezes behind and headed inland into the desert. There were the usual massive signs everywhere advertising everything you can imagine and more.

Finally back to the condo for some pool time in 80 + F and blue sky's, than downtown for a street festival and a great dinner at a sidewalk restaurant where we met two fun retired couples with lots of stories to share. Another "A" day in Palm Springs again. Oh ya. About the biking? Didn't ...

... fierce beyond funny! It was around 42 degrees with high humidity - a sweat inducing and energy sapping combination - ouch! Note to self: better stock up on deodorant! Within seconds I was sweating like Rolf Harris hearing a knock on his door - the situation caused me to recall a phrase my old Auntie Margaret (bless her soul) used to come away with in her best slack-jawed Kilsyth accent, during particularly nice Scottish Summer days - "oh ...

... moved from Orange County to Grand Forks. Family makes us do strange things.

We saw the sights in Grand Forks, appreciated why its residents love the place, and then on Thursday (July 26), we drove 6 hours to the Minneapolis airport and flew home to Palm Springs.

Attached are a few photos to remind us of our time in North Dakota, and what's happened ...
