... to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, which were beautiful but very very busy. There was no shade anywhere and it was so so hot! (Around 40 degrees!) Unfortunately, the temple, Wat Arun, was under construction so we didn't stop off to see it. We just saw the huge outline of it. ... following morning we set off early again and had quite a full programme ahead of us. We met up with Sean, a Dutch friend that we got to know in Port Douglas and decided to visit the famous Killing Fields and the Genocide Prison (S21) together. Two other girls joined us on our tour and so the 5 of us set off at 8am. It was quite a shocking day; the historical background of Paul Pot's Khmer Rouge Regime is extremely horrific. Our first stop was the Killing Fields situated about 12 ...

... to get in a boat. This is the dry season so the lake is way down. We had to drive further than even a few weeks ago. We got on a tour boat and headed out. There are several floating villages on the lake that move as the lake goes down. They have everything they need. There is a floating church and a floating school and a floating store. People had floating gardens. It really was amazing! ...
