    ... to get to the hotel. Apparently I viewed a whole section of the city that was not planned...I guess good exercise to help recover from my frustration. I then was able to find a laundromat as all my clothes, especially the biking clothes were in a need of a washing.     Our second day in Belgium, we hopped on an early train and met our friend Bram, who had already boarded the same train in nearby Leuven. The three of us took the short trip to Bruges, a town so watery it's known as "The Venice of the North."

    ... Then we walked to a park, where we relaxed in the sun and played cards. After a supermarket tea in the evening, we stayed in and played more card games, mostly Irish Snap with the introduction of the 'slaphead' rule (where you must first slap your head before slapping the 'snap') and sang very loudly to a number of musicals and concert band songs.     Today's ride took us through the fields of Flanders which was the western front during world war I. Flanders is known for its poppy fields and is why the poppy is associated with war veterans. Lunch today was a picnic hosted by our Backroads guides. We finished our ride along tree lined canals that took us back to Bruges.
