        ... cemetery of white headstones, apparently the third largest in Flanders, however we didn't stop at this one. Amazingly these cemetery's are maintained by volunteers, and there are many many cemetery's of various sizes. Our first stop was at a German cemetery and memorial site - very different to the allied cemetery! The headstones were flat in the ground and held anything between 3 to 6 people.         ... accidentally gassed themselves. When they finally figured out about wind patterns, they managed to send a cloud of chlorine gas toward the French line. The French, of course, couldn't imagine what this cloud was that was wafting toward them, so they were unafraid. Then they inhaled and suffered the slow, vicious death by suffocation.
