... shows are in every language, but these English leitworts they shout out again and again, “Arabs got talent!”, continue to tickle me as I prepare to leave for Israel.

That trip is unusual as well. When I came to Sharm el-Sheikh in the early 1990’s we just took a 3-hour Bedouin cab ride back and forth from Rafiach (Rafah), the crossing into Sinai from Israel. Nowadays that is highly inadvisable. The north Sinai is ...

... Back at the hotel I managed to sort out the internet at last and after a shower went for dinner at an ex divers bar, but now it’s more like a sports place. It was ok on my own, at some point a middle aged Norwegian guy joined me and we had a chat, so I wasn’t completely alone. After a subtle offer to go see his hotel which I kindly declined he left, so no problem with that either :-P And now in my own hotel I can finally reconnect to ...

... museum guard rushes us through these two rooms as he wants to close the mummy room a half hour early.

As we walk out of the museum, Shaimaa points out a burnt out building next door to the museum. Apparently this building was burned by the Mubarek government during the January revolution in an effort to destroy records.

Next we head to another part of town ...
