... in the spring and summer -- not the fall! Took a drive today to see the Umpqua River Lighthouse, built in 1894, that has a 65-foot tower from which the original first-order lens is still shining. The elevation in the park is 132 feet, the highs are predicted to be in the mid-60's, the lows in the high-40's, and partly sunny. Tomorrow I hope to get some more pictures from around the park -- more sand dunes, the ocean, and the freshwater lakes.

The etching included in the attached photos is by Picsso and is in their themed area about food and poverty. It is an amazing print; the first he ever published. It is very accomplished with a lot of subtle touches and very expressive of the ...

... we would be the lucky winners to the one campsite (of 4 in the park) that had an electric outlet. Woo hoo. At a cool $25 a night this would be our cheapest nights yet...but perhaps our most torturous.

Lesson Learned: No more camping near the beach with massive tent...or perhaps any tent. We definitely had a little battle with the wind while setting ourselves up. We were pretty much convinced we were going to wake up with the roof of our tent on our faces in ...

... I had crepes with powdered sugar and lemon and it was delicious!

After breakfast we headed north on 101 and enjoyed more of this beautiful coast.

We stopped at Cape Sebastian and even though there wasn't much to see we ended up visiting with a fun couple ...
