No harm was done, and we were able to complete the 0.3 mile trail as intended, which was a very different experience - a well maintained gravel trail, clearly demarcated and signed. If we’d done that first we would never have gone wrong!

After that though, we were too tired and not really in the mindset for further walking, so we headed directly on to Florence (Oregon, not Italy!).

      Hiking, Sand Boarding and Quadding
In the 'heart of the coast' camping here just south of Florence. Our time has been filled with, yes, more hiking and now experiencing the dunes of Oregon. Our first day we hiked around and up Cape Perpetual, which is a must hike down here. They claim they have the best views on the coast from atop Perpetua. So of course we have to hike it! Or we could have just drove up from the highway but no we parked the car ...

... mighty Pacific! How awesome this must have been for the first explorers to see. Windy weather, but clear and cool, made for a nice evening at camp. Looks like we are the only ones here. Love it!

The rest of this week, we plan to wander around the central and northern Oregon coast, doing a little exploring of our own... maybe even time for a little shopping!

Til later... cheers from the road,
