... nearest obvious way into the woods.
No harm was done, and we were able to complete the 0.3 mile trail as intended, which was a very different experience - a well maintained gravel trail, clearly demarcated and signed. If we’d done that first we would never have gone wrong!
After that though, we were too tired and not really in the mindset for further walking, so we headed directly on to Florence (Oregon, not Italy!).

Drank a porter ,which I am getting very fond of, and calamari appetizer, Sat on the sand against a large tree log and watched the sunset behind this gigantic rock in the ocean [Haystack Rock, 327 feet sea-stack half-a-mile offshore, Ed.]

Bonna has adequately (as usual) covered the post dialog for the day, so I'll just add the pictures and then publish this days blog. This outing was fun and we really enjoyed the day as well as those Tiger Prawns for dinner in the evening.

Hiking, Sand Boarding and Quadding
In the 'heart of the coast' camping here just south of Florence. Our time has been filled with, yes, more hiking and now experiencing the dunes of Oregon. Our first day we hiked around and up Cape Perpetual, which is a must hike down here. They claim they have the best views on the coast from atop Perpetua. So of course we have to hike it! Or we could have just drove up from the highway but no we parked the car ...
... mighty Pacific! How awesome this must have been for the first explorers to see. Windy weather, but clear and cool, made for a nice evening at camp. Looks like we are the only ones here. Love it!
The rest of this week, we plan to wander around the central and northern Oregon coast, doing a little exploring of our own... maybe even time for a little shopping!
