We chose to book an excursion for this port of call that took us by land through to the southern port of Soufriere where our cruise ship would sail to meet us at the end of the tour. We were glad we did as so many of her charms were shown to us. We learnt about her exports of sugar, cocoa, and bananas and travelled through picturesque and mountainous jungle scenery with the famous ...

The Flight of the Bumblebee was a pretty impressive Xylophone effort, musically pretty competent, but a little weird. The flamenco effort with Dawn, his wife, dancing was more than a little weird. Playing weird instruments was never an easy gig, as Shirley Abicair (who you may ask, as did Dianne) would probably agree, and she had the advantage of playing the ...

I don't know who was more shocked, us at seeing them or them at seeing us. I don't think many tourists venture that far around but we do like to see it all. I actually really liked it there, had a nice walk and even played with the ...

Historical Traveler Reviews The BodyHoliday, LeSport Castries

    Awesome if you're active!

    from anonymous

I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. My wife and I went for 8 nights in early August. Here are my "quick" thoughts and recs. FYI - we are early thirties.Fly a major airline if you can. I've done the charter thing to St Lucia before and it was a nightmare. Also, try to fly into the smaller airport only about 15 mins from the resort.Room: Clean, decent size (we stayed in an Ocean view), great view, a bit dated, not lavish by US standards at all, but acceptable. When we go back, we'll stay in the new Jr Suites I think.Staff: Very nice overall including managers, waiters, cooks and sports staff. There was an occational attitude, but there's some of that everywhere and it was not the norm at all.Food: Great breakfast. Made to order omelets (egg whites if you want it) and lots of healthy and not-so-healthy choices. Usually a good lunch selection and the deli has good lighter fare like salads, smoothies, hummus and sandwiches. My wife and I really dug the oatmeal cookies. Dinner was kind of a crapshoot. Hard to cook a "fine dining" meal for that many people. Tao was great - espc the sushi and had the best service of all of them. House wine is decent (Chilean), but the wine list (surcharge applies) is weak. Most of the guests were British and they seemed to be mostly drinking the white zin so it may be catered to their tastes more than American preferences. Not sure really. Bar selection is good overall. Some dishes at dinner do have a surcharge, but nothing huge. I think the biggest we paid was $20 for the sushi and it was enough for 4 people.Activities: Unbelievable! If you get bored easily, this is the place for you. We took golf lessons, snorkeled (there's plenty so see right off the beach even Sandals brings their guests there), did water aerobics, took nature walks, did step aerobics, weight trained, did yoga, mediated, etc. Very good instructors!Spa: Make your preferences known ahead of time, but it's pretty easy to change your schedule. Most of the treatments, in my mind, were basically massages in one form or another. But, I enjoyed them. Nice staff. The facilities are nice and the location in the hills makes for good views. BE WARNED: there are some serious steps here and this is where most of the classes are too.Other: Medium size beach (not white sand), small pool, but nice, not much nightlife but the entertainment that was there was good (fun staff show and great jazz bands during dinner sometimes). BRING REPELLENT! There are a lot of mosquitoes at night, but not swarms of them. Just wear "Off" and you'll be fine. Those who didn't were badly bitten. I got two bites the whole time, so no biggie. Theres no tipping, but my wife and I gave the spa staff $10 a service and we were remembered and catered a bit better to I believe. We also left the occasional $5 or $10 at a meal if we got really good service. One note: we got such great service at Tao one night that I wanted to leave something extra. So, I asked if I could charge it to my room along with the wine wed ordered. There is no way to do this and they insisted it wasnt necessary. The gift stores are pretty well stocked and I didnt find anything to be outrageously price espc compared to other resorts Ive been to.We will be going back for sure! I liked it better than the Jalousie, Sandals Bahamas, and the Four Seasons Hawaii overall. Just a really relaxing place and a good value overall.

    Relaxing

    from DrDEbDDS1964

We just got back from LeSport and are well rested. It started off a little shakey. I recommend taking the helicopter instead of the cab ride to the resort, it saves you about an 1 hour and 15 minutes. Just pack what you need in an overnight bag because your luggage may not be going with you!! Ours got to the resort 7 hours after us!! But still the ride is worth it!! The room was nice with a beautiful view and we had oceanview not front. The beach is not your typical caribbean blue. the resort is up north where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic, so the water is rough.Service was good. The food was good. Breakfast was the same everyday but enough to choose from. lunch could have been better.they try to cater to everyones taste. I would prefer if they had a grill outside for lunch instead of the Deli along with the traditional lunch they served. You have two choices for dinner. main dining which was presented beautifully, but selecion was limited if you wanted the better seafood (lobster or shrimp) you had to pay a nominal surcharge.Same goes for the Tao food looke beautiful service great but alot of better choices had a surcharge! So not totally all- inclusine. The clubhouse grill in the evening was Great!! More of our American kind of fare! Drinks were good and plentiful no matter if you were at the pool or beach service was good! Now to the Oasis. This makes the trip!! The treatments were Wonderful! They now schedule 1 hour treatments instead of 2 half hours which is so much better! My husband and myself were always scheduled at the same time which works out nice if you want to do something else!! If you need to reschedule it's not a problem, I would change th Hydrotherapy for something else it was a poor excuse for a glorified whirlpool!! the rest were great!!! One thing I have to say is the staff hired for any sports are really professionals. the tennis and golf instructors really know what they are taliking about!!! Don't book the "Walk on the Wild Side" through the hotel. It was expensive#!! After you see how they drive there you won't want to be in a car!! Take the tour booked with the Sunlink rep that is stationed at the resort, it's a tour and a catamaran ride much nicer!!!There is not much to do after dinner. They have a little entertainment in the evening, it's not a big party type of resort! All in all it was very nice and relaxing. So many of the people had been there several times. Would I go back? ,probally not just because there are too many places to go I like somwhere differnt each time. I might try their sister resort in Grenada though!! any questions feel free!!

    Marvelous

    from Travelcritic-ca

Just got back and had a great time. The food was good, the beach was great and the view was fabulous. Overall we would give it a 5. There were a few issues. One being the mosquitoes and sand fleas around the outdoor bar. I wish we would have known and brought some repellant and after bite. The second was, and we think it was the sandwiches at tea service, several people developed stomach problems. Lastly the spa treatments were great but many were only 20 minutes. I was told that starting in March they would be reducing the number of treatments but increasing the length to all be 50 minutes. We were impressed that there were so many people that have been there multiple times. The winner we heard of was 33 times. We did talk to many people were were there 5-11 times. Overall with the above knowledge we would go back.

    The BEST in the Caribbean

    from anonymous

The spa, the gourmet food, the premium wines and liquors and the accommodations are top notch.

This is the best all inclusive with the most for the bucks.

While the beach is not THE most gorgeous or biggest in the whole Caribbean, it is warm, clear, inviting and very picturesque.

The only very minor negative is the mosquitos at night - don't forget the bug spray!

You can do all the activities you want or don't want. It IS the 'Body Holiday' - we're going back - again!

    The Best Couple Vacation Available

    from anonymous

LeSport is one of the most unbelievable vacations my wife and I have ever taken. The big issue for us was the food because it is marketed as a "healthy" vacation. However, the food is most definatly healthy, but it is also extremely tasty and plentiful. We were never dissapointed in the service, food, or SPA.....Oh the SPA!

Do your relationship a big favor and get to know each other all over again.

    Fantasy Wedding

    from anonymous

My wife and I spent a good deal of time looking for the perfect wedding spot. We almost went back to Sandals in St Lucia as we had been there before, but on a chance we decided to go to Le Sport. And boy did we make the right decision. The little things that we not right at Sandals were all perfect at Le Sport. The indifferent staff were nowhere to be seen. we we taken care of so well and our whole family made to feel so special and it will be one of the happiest memories of my life.

We vacationed at LeSport in St. Lucia during mid-October 2002. Please be aware that this is their rainy season! The mosquitoes are a BIG problem and they have no mercy on you as they will bite through your clothing! Always keep your door and balcony door closed or you risk looking like you have the chicken pox! It is a MUST that you pack "Off" mosquito spray.

That said, LeSport was a wonderful destination. The grounds were well taken care of, the food was very good (especially breakfast), the staff were friendly (except for the staff in the gift shop), and the spa services were good. It is somewhat difficult to change your spa services around; however, if you are persistent and you ask more than one staff member at the spa's front desk, you may have a chance of getting what you want. Due to the cloudy/rainy weather, we were happy that we had the spa services to look forward to (but not all of the steps to get up to the spa!)

The night life could be enhanced. There were only a couple of shows during the eight days that we were there. On the other nights, there was a band playing during dinner or in the clubhouse.

The rooms were nice and spacious. However, housekeeping could have been a little more efficient. Our rooms were located on the third floor and it was quite a walk! The elevators did not work the entire time we were there. I asked the front desk staff about having them repaired and the reply I received was that they were waiting for the repair man to come from over seas!

The beach and watersports are fabulous. LeSport's beach is great for snorkeling. Sandal's guests will even come to the property (via boat) to go snorkeling.

LeSport was a nice place to unwind and relax.

    Thank you, Thank you....

At the time of this writing, there were only two other reviews. I rate the accomodations as 5 stars. You need not leave the hotel property to fulfill your appetite for endless fun. Ahhhh, I just ache for more time at this paradise where you are treated as family by people native to this island. A rare treat not to be missed.

We found paradise. There was everything!

    from anonymous

The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT is what it is called now, and a body holiday it is! I was massaged, wrapped, facialed, jetted with a hose of sea water, and pampered to my hearts content with two different treatments each day, (which was included in the cost!) While I was living the life at the Oasis, (the name of the Spa, at the BodyHoliday), my husband was out playing golf and tennis with some friends he met. And though i thought that I would be able to grab his spa treatments, he fell right into it and is already looking for a spa here!

But nothing can compare to The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT. The food is excellent and the menu changes daily, so you get to try everything. The staff is great and oh so friendly. Nothing is ever too much. And there are so many repeaters! But we could understand why. We will be returning for Christmas ourselves. The rates are also really reasonable considering all you receive. We paid £230 per night, (which included two spa treatments a day, all actvities, all meals, 90% of the alcholic drinks, and accomodation) For that price I could just about get two spa treatments in London, forget dinner!

Over all, Great vacation, great people, and did I mention that the island is breathtaking! We had a brilliant vacation!

    Rest & recuperation delight

    from anonymous

my wife and i were feeling dragged down by life's pressures, business issues, etc., when a travel agent found lesport in St. Lucia for us largely because it had "golf" and "spa" included. Well, for once the travel agent was right, indeed he was understated. This place is a little piece of paradise; the setting is beautiful, the ocean is invigorating, the crowd (mostly European, U.K.) interesting, the included meals remarkably well prepared and tasteful with service with a smile and attentiveness at all times, and while the spa is not the Red Door, it is an immaculately clean, terrific facility, with a wide variety of sessions of every kind (even if some of them are too abbrieviated). ***** A+.
