Historical Traveler Reviews Sun Palace Cancun

    Great vacation!

After researching Cancun resorts for 2 months on the internet, we selected Sun Palace --- what a great place! These reviews do not lie! The hotel is beautiful and clean, the service is the best, and the food is absolutely delicious! We definitely plan on going back!We stayed June 4 - June 8. Weather was great - hot & humid but it only rained about 5 minutes. There is always a great breeze by the pool or on the beach. The great part about staying at the Sun Palace is that you can go to any of the other sister resorts and eat, swim, workout... We visited the Cancun Palace is much bigger and a much busier place. The beach at the Cancun Palace is nicer than at the Sun Palace. The Moon Palace and Moon Palace Sunrise are spacious and beautiful. You have got to see the pool! XPu Ha is really neat, too. We found that for our tastes, the Sun Palace suited us. There were a lot of activities all day long, but it was not a wild party.Tours --- The trip to Tulum/XPu-Ha is well worth it. Tulum does not take the whole day, but is very interesting. And there's a nice breeze there since it is on the ocean. (Can't say that for Chichen Itza). Snorkeling and kayaking at XPu-Ha was fun, too.Isla Mujeras tour was a blast! Ask for Mario as your tour guide! They give you a great party! When shopping downtown, do not pay more than $10 USD for a hemp hammock! They were begging us to buy!Jungle Tour thru AquaFun was fun, too. We chose the jet boat instead of the jet skis. Bring your sunscreen! The snorkeling was awesome!Cancun and Sun Palace really is a great place to stay!

The Best Hotel In Cancun For Sure

Just got back from the Sun Palace on June 1st. The last time we were there was 3 years ago and I couldn't say enough good things about the resort then. It has surpassed my expectations. They have remodeled the lobby bar as well as the front desk area. They have improved on the service. Nothing and I mean nothing will they not do for you. It was our second time there and I believe it's the only place we will stay. We like the location, the size, the service, the cleanliness and the friendliness of everyone there staff as well as administration. All of the administrative staff came to the pool to introduce themselves and were always visible if you needed anything. First class resort all the way.

Before going on this trip I came across this website which gave me some helpful advice and I am writing this to return that favor for future Sun Palace Travelers. My Wife and I traveled the period of May 24 - May 31, 2003 and we had an excellent time. We flew Mexicana Airlines, the airport experience was not pleasant! DO NOT BUY ANY TOURS FROM THE PEOPLE IN THE AIRPORT, they will try very hard to get you to their hut on your way out in exiting the airport, we got caught. They want a cash deposit from you to book a tour, all tours can be booked from the hotel. All the people in Cancun are very nice, some of the staff knows english a bit better than the other, but they ALL try, cannot say the same for the people in South Florida. The food was abundant and good, alcohol around every corner and rooms, pool area and beach were very clean. The entertainment staff was fun and every day was like a party! We went to a few clubs downtown, absolutely try CocoBong nightclub, what an amazing place. We traveled to all the palaces: Beach Palace was good for parents with small kids, Cancun Palace was for the 18 year old crowd, Moon and Sun Palace was a mixed crowd. We went on 2 tours, Tulune, which is a Mayan Ruin site, was ok. The other tour was a visit to the island of Mujures, was a boat ride and shopping day. Very fun time, party on the boat both ways and excellent diving and snorkeling. Shopping downtown was different, do not take the price they give you for anything, always take the price down a few bucks, they will take it! Only negative to the Sun Palace is they go to room service for food just after 10:30pm, No food downstairs after that time. In general, Fun, relaxing, and you can party, shop or just sleep the day and night away. Positive recommedation and will return soon!

The Sun Palace is one of the smaller Palace resorts. It has a little over 200 rooms and Three resturants. I found the guest to be older, couples, or honeymooners. It is a quiet place with a low keyed approach. The food was terrific, the rooms great, and the service was the best I ever had. That includes Sandals, beaches etc. If you want action take a 10 minute bus ride to The Cancun Palace. You can visit every Palace resort, eat and use their facilities free. The Sun Palace is A++++ and highly recommended.

    A good choice

My wife & I are returning to the Sun on July 13th after a two year absence. We first stayed there in Sept of '01. The place is GREAT! Only about 235 rooms, so you don't get lost in the croud. The help was far better & friendlier than we expected. They actually seemed happy to have a job, which is more than I can say about some other people I've met lately. The food was very good; not excelent, but very good & plenty of it, including free room service. Tipping is not required but a couple of bucks(literaly a couple) here & there gets you waited on like a celebrity. The pool was our favorite, complete with bar, wait staff & a buffet from mid morning til late afternoon. About five young guys & gals keep you entertained from 10-6PM with DJ style music, pool vollyball, bingo, trivia & constant fun. Marcos & his partner were great bartenders & allways in a good mood. Also, you can enjoy a different show nightly in a beautifull theater. And don't forget the sunrise walk on the beach, if the hangover permits. Overall, a very good choice! Enjoy! Vinnie

It was the BEST Vacation of my life!

You have never had a real vacation until you have stayed at the Sun Palace in Cancun, Mexico! The people bend over backwards for you. The weather, rooms, and food is excellent. This was my third year at the Sun Palace and I am making reservations to go back again next year. To be treated like royalty, stay at the Sun Palace in Cancun. Trust me, you will not regret it!

    Dream of a Beach!

My husband and I spent 4 days at this wonderful resort. We were extremely well taken care of, from the minute we walked in the door our bags wisked away and we were served champagne in the lounge as we cked in! We became fast friends with Nancy, Ernesto, and Angel, the best and most attentive people working the pool bar and beach. It was fun taking the crazy bus to the street vendor area in the hotel district, but the best buying was on the beach. Great deals and funner than internet shopping. The Sun Palace security will make sure you aren't bothered though, I noticed a security person stand by me the whole time my husband went to get money to buy his souvenier. Food was fantastic, loved the woman that made our morning omelets! The beach was heavenly, perfect sand, like brown sugar, less the brown and sticky. Water warm, clear, and gorgeous... Will go back again, we enjoyed 4 days at the spa palace and 4 days at the sun palace and loved the two totally different palace.

    Dream come true!

WOW!! it was wonderful, beautiful. The treatment we rec'd was great and overwhelming. Clean, cozy, and friendly. I would stay no where else. The food was unending and so delicious. The Pina Colada's, Mmmmmmm.

    A Wonderful Time.

My husband and I stayed at the Sun Palace 9/8/02-9/15/02. I can honestly say that we had a wonderful time. The resort is first class from the moment you enter. We were checked in while sitting in the lobby area sipping pina coladas. The food was good, especially breakfast. We often had made to order omelets, waffles and smoothies. The resort was quiet during our stay. There is different nightly entertainment. The staff waited on us hand and foot. We would definitely return. If there was one negative aspect about the resort, it would be the small red ants that seem to come out only at night. Other than that, it was great. Best time we've ever had. Oh yeah, the waves on the beautiful beach appear to be harmless until you go in. Beware. The waves nearly knocked the wind out of me. But it was still a great time.

Great Hotel! The food was amazing, the rooms were extremely well kept and clean, the service was great. The workers were very friendly. On the downside, it was so windy that I couldn't even get in the water past my knees without doing cartwheels in the water after. Also, the majority of the occupants is older and not the typical 18-25 crowd characteristic of Cancun.

... anyway. Why we chose to walk in the heat and humidity may be a mystery. I guess the sounds of Eurovision graveyard from yesterday scared us off a beach club. We did watch (and video) the Danza de las Voladores (Flying Dancers). During their breaks, some of them were doing needlepoint for the fabulous and colourful costumes. We made our way back to the Acanto and had a swim in their small pool. The water was nice and cool. The pool suffers not ...

It got to 7:45 before I thought I best wake him up so we can have dinner. Gently, I sit on the bed and give him a little nudge to wake him and he doesn't budge. I kid you not, I couldn't see his chest moving. Panicked, I rip the covers off him and fortunately see him breathing so I gave ...

As you can imagine I was having trouble managing my own expectations on this one, the visibility wasn't great but I saw a huge turtle so I went home happy.
