Historical Traveler Reviews Sea Adventure Resort & Waterpark Cancun

    Absolute worst Hotel EVER!!

    from

Absolute horrible place, we had a disagreement over some dubious charges on our phone bill and they would not let us leave until I gave them my cell phone as ransom. I paid for 3 months cell phone service before I was able to get my phone back. We paid for a double room and only received one bed. When we complained we were informed that the 2 bed rooms were first come first serve. After talking to some other guests they mentioned that they bribed their way into a better room with a 20$ bill. So basically they sold our room out from under us. Many bugs in the room, poor furnishing, only 1 bar open at a time, my list of complaints goes on and on. Guest services are a joke, poor food, and a bad location to boot. Very far away from anything of interest in the resort district we had to spend large amounts of money paying for cab rides as the bus passes through very rough areas before getting to the other tourist areas. AFter all of our problems we only managed to receive a 1 day credit for one person for a day which we didn't use anyway.(airline delay) This company has no excuse to be in business whatsoever. If you have any other questions feel free to email me and I will explain more about my stay. Next time I go to cancun I will stay at the Grand Oasis, for about the same money as the Horrible Blue Bay Club.

    Great for all ages

    from

We were pleasantly suprised after reading some of the reviews. The hotel was clean, staff very friendly and food a variety. We enjoyed being off the beaten path but always having a taxi nearby to come and go. The beach was small and enclosed by sandblocks but the pool was nice and ample in size. Our 11 year old enjoyed the non alcoholic drinks and swim up bar the best. Overall, the trip was fun and the Blue Bay Club very accomadating.

Great Holiday - would do it again

    from

Ive just returned from a 2 week vacation at the Blue Bay Hotel. Having read the previous comments, before I departed, I was obviously not too sure what to expect. I can of course now confirm that the Blue Bay Hotel is very good. The food was of a good standard (Mexican/English/

American food) and always with a good variety, the drinks were also free flowing all day and the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and eager to please. The bedrooms were also excellent and of a high standard. The beach does unfortunately have a lot of sandbags just at the shoreline but this is to stop the corrosion of the beach. The pool area is excellent so makes up for the beach. The sports facilities were also very good. My only fault would be the hotel bus and boat timetable which is free to guests in order to get to the Hotel Zone which is about a 15 minute drive away. The last bus back to the Hotel was at 10.30 pm which meant that you had to pay cab fares each time to return to your Hotel, unlike the other hotels in the Hotel Zone which could use the local transport 24 hours a day. All in all we had a great time and great weather.

Would I go to Cancun again - yes, just to do the things I didn't manage to get around to doing. Would I go to the Blue Bay? Probably, although I would prefer to stay in the Zone area next time.

Don't be guided by other peoples negative reviews

    from

Having read previous negative reviews about the hotel, it was with some trepidation that we went to the hotel for our holiday. We had an excellent time. The hotel was immaculate, the staff were the most friendly, polite people that it has been our pleasure to meet, the food was plentiful and well presented, although thankfully, not fast food (ie. burgers and fries). Yes there was seaweed on the beach and sandbags, but with the area having just felt the wrath of Isadora, what else would you expect. A problem that we encountered (not of the hotels liability) was speedily rectified without any pressure from ourselves. We would recommend this hotel to anybody and would happily return again.

The best thing in my life

    from

I was in this hotel 2 years ago, but i can tell that it's better than the others in Cancun. The staff is great, cheearful and the happiest in the entire wolrd...I just love it! it was wonderful and I hope to be there again because i made great friends

Blue Bay Club & Marina - Avoid!!!

    from

We returned form our 14 day vacation to Mexico last week and I can honestly say the Blue Bay Club us the worst '4 star' hotel - more appropriatley should be rated as a 2 star and would be in the UK.

We arrived at the hotel after a long, cramped and uncomfortable journey and due to the travel arrangements we had not slept for 2 days. We were just looking forward to arriving at our resort and relaxing.

We checked in and were shown to a small room with 2 single beds puched together, no a/c, no tv, no balcony just a smallish window looking onto the road. We had paid a substatial amount of money for a room sew view, with a/c, a balcony and a king size bed. We went straight back down to reception to complain. We were told there were no other rooms available. After arguing for about 10 mins we were told there was another room but it was across the road. It was slightly better but still looked very dated, and was on the groud floor with dodgy locks - I felt evry unsafe.

We were starving so went to eat at the buffet, I am not particulaly picky but the food was terrible and was eaten in the theatre with one of the worst shows I have ever seem - just a group of people with costumes jumping about to a tape recroding of disney.

Advertised as having 2 pools one if them was tiny and more like a plunge pool. The sea was uninviting and the beach smelt really bad. The staff at the hotel seemed just as depressed as we were and you certainly didn't get 'service with a smile'.

The hotel was miles from the rest of the hotels and shops and anything in fact. The last shuttle bus was a 10pm.

We found 2 other couples from our flight who were also very unhappy.

Luckily for us we were moved to the Blue Bay Getaway, where we had a beautiful room and the facilities were first class, as were the staff. How there can be such a difference between two 4 star hotels that are owned by the same people I will never understand. If you have already booked the Blue Bay Club and your party only inlcudes adults then they will probably let you transfer, all the couples from our fight did!

All I can say is that if you are thinking about going to Blue Bay Club - don't! Cancun and the Blue Bay Getaway on the other hand is are fantastic places and I will definitely return .

Blue Bay Club a wonderful destination!

    from

We recently completed a trip to Blue Bay Club and found it thoroughly satisfactory. The service was supurb, the entertainment excellent, and the rooms were very nice and all with a/c. I thought the drinks were nice sized and mixed very well. They would mix anything you asked. The beach is not huge, but it was clean and well taken care of. It smelled like a beach. The pipes refered to in previous comments are erosion barriers, to prevent the loss of sand from the beach. They had them as out of site as possible, but they did not interfere with our enjoyment of the beach and view! The food was good, and there was always plenty of it. I would highly recommend Blue Bay Club. It is north of the hotel zone and we found it quieter and more relaxing.

    No waves

    from

this was are first trip to cancun,if you are looking for blue water this is not the place.

this is more of a family hotel nice rooms, halfway decent food and small weak drinks.

now the blue bay gettaway is a lot nicer still no waves but a bigger beach 2 pools lots of food but no place for kids its all adult.

to get to waves go south of the sunset hotel

    have fun

    Complete disappointment

    from

checked into room with no A/C, no electric, no safe for valuables. fought to get changed to new room. The beach was dirty and stunk like sewage.!!!!! The beach (if you want to call it a beach) had sand bags all over along with sea weed and pipes were run along the beach with drained something that smelled which looked like it was from the hotel ??? The hotel is not close to any activities. Tour representatives were not helpful.

Had a 3 night trip in which only 1 day we were able to do something due to being stuck at the hotel. If you don't mind wasting your money this is the place to go.

    Blue Bay Club and Marina

    from

Hotel was nice, pool area was nice, room was nice. Food was ok. Beach was not so nice...

no waves what so ever, made sailing sports difficult. Water was green, seaweed, rocks

    pipes along the shore.

Pool side acitivies a little boring...water aerobics, dancing lesson (same dance

every day), Spanish lessons and bingo.

Drinks served in really small glasses, a little irritating.

... While we appreciated his intent we saw that this would take too long to materialize. Desperate to get out we started walking towards Mexico again. The customs officials stopped us again and shook their heads. We then realized that this was a “vehicles-only” border crossing and pedestrians were prohibited. We also realized that it was a first world high speed freeway on the Mexican side and not particularly safe for pedestrians.

... for the company. We managed to secure a few nights at the party hostel Poc-na and also decided to do our diving tickets. We had both wanted to do this for a number of years and thought what a great place to do it as well as being a lot cheaper than Australia. The first afternoon we had to watch what seemed like hours and hours of corny over the top American acting instruction videos whilst filling in a workbook. We hadn't really used our brains for about 6 ...

Some guy at a bank of desks on the right wall tried to sell me some hotel club membership that I didn't and another girl had another shot before I left the terminal.

Saturday 28th June we left the flat at 6.30am to fly to Mexico. Early starts are always horrific for me as I am not a morning person but this was made 100x worse with having barely slept due to a migraine all night which I can only put down to the shot of Honey Badger (whisky) we had on the Deloitte team night the day before. We were clearly not on form. We were sat at the gate with the airline trying ...

... well which surprised me! After the swim, we enjoyed a buffet lunch before heading to Ek Balam, another Mayan site. I really liked Ek Balam because you were able to climb on all the structures which we couldn't do in Chichen Itza and only on some of the structures in Copan. After Ek Balam, it was a long 2.5 hour drive back to the hotel. We got back around 7 and after a shower, we got lazy but decided to head to Kukulcan plaza for some dinner. We didn't know what was here ...
