The hotel overall was very accommodating. We were offered complimentary champagne while checking in and a golf cart ride to our room because it was pouring down rain. The rain didn't stop for three days so the hotel staff actually built bridges so that guests wouldn't have to walk through the water.
There are seven restaurants on the resort grounds and all have pretty decent food, except the late night buffet (but what do you expect?). The staff is responsible for different activities throughout the day (zumba, beach volleyball, game room, etc.) and the resort holds nightly shows at their theater so there is always plenty to do. We saw the Michael Jackson concert and were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel also allows multiple companies to work out of their activity area in order to assist you in booking excursions. We used the company Best Day and were very impressed with the professionalism the representative showed. She was amazing!
I loved that the Resort was Eco friendly and that there were wild animals walking around us at all times and that they placed recycling bins near the walkways for you to place your reusable cups in. All of our drinks were given to us in either glass or plastic recyclable cups.
We read other reviews before our trip that mentioned an overwhelming amount of mosquitos or that the beach shouldn't be walked on barefoot. We, however, didn't encounter any of these issues. Overall, I was very happy staying at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa.

It was a great vacation. The grounds and buildings are beautiful Mexican style decor. The service was good and the food at the buffet was outstanding. There are several restaurants at the resort that served good food. It's an all inclusive resort, so there was plenty to eat and drink. Water sports and para-sailing makes for fun adventures.

... there. Didn’t have accommodation there either, but what the heck. I was a bit ****** and I didn’t really care about what would happen. I had also send out a few couchsurfing requests to people in Caye Caulker, Belize City and Chetumal, but to no avail. Everyone was either “fully booked” (full house with other couchsurfers), or unavailable.

... going to Tulum for a couple of days, so we went to sit in Starbucks so the boys could look for hotels and see the latest weather forecast. I was excited to see Zara around the corner from Starbucks and wasted little time drinking my soya cappuccino. I have to say the shop in Playa del Carmen is the best I have ever been in. It was huge and the whole ground floor was ladies wear and the first was half mens and half children's. It wasn't busy ...

They were both retired, having lived a full and exciting life travelling the world, but the Greek-born Taki had been lured back to work in the EU as a shipping consultant, commuting from the UK to Brussels a few days a week. They suggest the restaurant Es Parilla, having eaten there a few nights ago, so we meet them as they disembark from a visit to Cozumel and wander down Fifth Avenue together. On their suggestion we ...
