Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa

The hotel overall was very accommodating. We were offered complimentary champagne while checking in and a golf cart ride to our room because it was pouring down rain. The rain didn't stop for three days so the hotel staff actually built bridges so that guests wouldn't have to walk through the water.
There are seven restaurants on the resort grounds and all have pretty decent food, except the late night buffet (but what do you expect?). The staff is responsible for different activities throughout the day (zumba, beach volleyball, game room, etc.) and the resort holds nightly shows at their theater so there is always plenty to do. We saw the Michael Jackson concert and were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel also allows multiple companies to work out of their activity area in order to assist you in booking excursions. We used the company Best Day and were very impressed with the professionalism the representative showed. She was amazing!
I loved that the Resort was Eco friendly and that there were wild animals walking around us at all times and that they placed recycling bins near the walkways for you to place your reusable cups in. All of our drinks were given to us in either glass or plastic recyclable cups.
We read other reviews before our trip that mentioned an overwhelming amount of mosquitos or that the beach shouldn't be walked on barefoot. We, however, didn't encounter any of these issues. Overall, I was very happy staying at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa.

It was a great vacation. The grounds and buildings are beautiful Mexican style decor. The service was good and the food at the buffet was outstanding. There are several restaurants at the resort that served good food. It's an all inclusive resort, so there was plenty to eat and drink. Water sports and para-sailing makes for fun adventures.

... watching the thousands of bubbles that that group set free below.

The second dive was at Tajma-Ha. A nice but very different centote. It was dark and on one point you could see a huge hole in the cavern that lead directly into the jungle. A lot of trees fell down into this hole what makes it very spectacular.
We also saw a lot of fossils and some huge stalactites and stalagmites formations. It was a very nice cenote to finish our cenote adventures...

    Subdued Cenotes

... for a payment booth, and relatively few visitors. It was a small Cenote, with only a few pools to brag of. The waters were still crystal clear and little fish nibbled at our feet when dipped in the water (mostly Dan's as Kate battled with - and overcame - her fear of little fish). There was a 25m long cave with depths that clearly connected into the underwater network, which made for some spectacular, and slightly scary snorkelling. The only ...

... begun. I headed off in search of a tattoo studio. I have wanted to get a sugar skull tattoo to commemorate spending 3 months in this amazing country, we found a great design in Merida on a bandana, I had it with me and I thought with the weather being the way it is I would not have a chance to be swimming in pools or the ocean which is the reason I'd been putting it off. I walked along the street a while and eventually saw a sign with tattoo on it. There ...

Pics when tony can convert video to pics, which by then nobody will care about this amazing blog. Second dive was Colombia shallows-amazing floating on reef and below-and because max depth was 32-I got to pee every thirty seconds. Which just happens when your diving apparently, not that ...
