The hotel overall was very accommodating. We were offered complimentary champagne while checking in and a golf cart ride to our room because it was pouring down rain. The rain didn't stop for three days so the hotel staff actually built bridges so that guests wouldn't have to walk through the water.
There are seven restaurants on the resort grounds and all have pretty decent food, except the late night buffet (but what do you expect?). The staff is responsible for different activities throughout the day (zumba, beach volleyball, game room, etc.) and the resort holds nightly shows at their theater so there is always plenty to do. We saw the Michael Jackson concert and were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel also allows multiple companies to work out of their activity area in order to assist you in booking excursions. We used the company Best Day and were very impressed with the professionalism the representative showed. She was amazing!
I loved that the Resort was Eco friendly and that there were wild animals walking around us at all times and that they placed recycling bins near the walkways for you to place your reusable cups in. All of our drinks were given to us in either glass or plastic recyclable cups.
We read other reviews before our trip that mentioned an overwhelming amount of mosquitos or that the beach shouldn't be walked on barefoot. We, however, didn't encounter any of these issues. Overall, I was very happy staying at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa.

It was a great vacation. The grounds and buildings are beautiful Mexican style decor. The service was good and the food at the buffet was outstanding. There are several restaurants at the resort that served good food. It's an all inclusive resort, so there was plenty to eat and drink. Water sports and para-sailing makes for fun adventures.

How to get VIP service for the open bar @ Coco Bongo. 1) Find the bartender named Freddy, tip him a measly 50 pesos (AUD$4) and drinks will practically be waiting each time you approach the bar! 2) dance on the bar *Note that option 1 inevitability leads to option 2. Coco Bongo in Playa. For those unfamiliar with Coco it is a mix between a night club and Vegas style show. Every 15mins from 11-3am a mini show or scene from a ...

Leaving the parking area we were taken to a wide, smooth, flat trail that would lead us to the Lost City, that was now well found. We had the option of a small tractor train with several passenger cars obediently following behind the tractor train that pulled it. For those that wanted more person vehicles, they could also rent bicycles for the round trip to the city. We like ...

          ... everybody speaks English.

Well, I have been here for more than a month now, and it looks like I'll be settling here for the winter months - high season for the Mayan Riviera/Mexican Caribbean coast. So this means until round about March or April 2014. That's the plan anyway, the intention being to ground myself in a pleasant and hospitable location where it is possible to ply my trades - yoga, massage and wedding video production. For all three ...

I bought a few things and caught the bus back to the hotel zone and stopped at la isla shopping mall. This would be a fab mall if you could afford to shop in places like gucci but not for a budget backpacker like me. It pretty much rained on and off all day so i was glad that i went out to do some ...

I kept thinking that mpst of this had to be fake, but I actually think that the majority of the cavern was natural - with some man-made touches to carve out a suitable path for the "underground river". We even saw a group of bats hanging (out) on the roof of the cave, with a few flying around! For the ...
