... house we found was great - a little far from the beach though but that allowed us to drive through the whole town every day and chat to some of the coolest taxi drivers on earth! A trip to the supermarket to stock up on Red Stripes (beers), local rum and some food and we were all set for the week.

Our time there was largely spent on the beaches and wandering up and down the 'Hip Strip' which is basically the main tourist street with all the ...

Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica jehmyniI spent almost a week in Negril, a long stretch of beaches along the western tip of Jamaica. Very popular with tourists. I walked the beach several times and I've been annoyed by the "farmers" and the like on a regular basis. They are sometimes aggressive. Better to walk along the road than the beach at night to/from the restaurant for obvious reasons. Nice sunsets.
Negril, Jamaica gratien... they are full, so you are guaranteed to be squeezed 4 across no matter what (well, occasionally you can get away with having a bag as the 4th, but don't count on it.) We stayed in this all-inclusive resort for a couple days. Evidently they aren't used to guests showing up in other than a tour bus, let alone the local bus system. We were greated sceptically by the guards at the entrance, who had ...
Lucea, Jamaica crashdotThe ride from Kingston to Ocho Rios was harrowing to say the least! Our kind driver Roy took us on the 2.5 hour trek through the narrow one lane streets with no shoulder in the Jamaican mountains (driving on the left of course). He must have known it was a white knuckle ride because he pulled over to a random man with a cooler on the side of the ...
Kingston, Jamaica jenfifi... s house (after wandering around her neighborhood for what seemed like forever), played some dominoes (I won), a card game (I didn't win), and ate some food. Left her house and headed for Pier 1, a resturant/bar with music and dancing on Friday night. We got there and wandered down the Pier to check out the huge waves from Hurricane Wilma. As we were walking back towards the party a HUGE wave crashed over us and drenched us from top to bottom, and pushed ...
