EGYPT - Camels, Quad Bikes and Resorts

A travel blog entry by theprojectman

I arrived just after sunset. Flying over the desert was an experience. I have flown over parts of Egypt before, but never exactly landed there. Hurghada is a tourists spot that attracts Europeans such as Germans, Russians and British. I spent 4 nights in a lovely resort that was all-inclusive. Everything was included in the price, therefore i did not have to ...

Egypt - Day 3: Hurghada, Red Sea & Beach

A travel blog entry by dorlina

Our snorkeling tour started at 8:15a.m., we were transferred to the port for the our big boat. After collecting our masks and fins, we joined our group size of about 20. Most of the tourists can speak Arabic. Only 4 of us, two Chinese, 1 UK, 1 German speak English. Our tour guide is very professional which he made sure everyone is happy with the tour. First, we landed on the Giftun / paradise Island, beautiful crystal water and golden sand. ...

Long Drive Through the Desert

A travel blog entry by lisabraz

... These turned into hills made up of reddish rocks and boulders, with endless drifts of sand piling up at their bases. As you can tell, there wasn't a whole lot to see during this part of the drive.

We finally stopped at a touristy type of outdoor cafe for a very welcome bathroom break and cold refreshments. Bill and I split an orange Fanta. A hot, dry breeze filtered its way through the open sides of the establishment, and we mingled with a larger group of ...

Temples of Karnak and Luxor

... to the public. Ornately decorated walls and massive columns are adorned with engraved images and hieroglyphs. Perhaps the most spectacular aspect is Hypostyle Hall. It is an area of 50,000 square feet with sixteen rows containing 134 large columns. With obelisks and statues the structure is an architectural phenomena. If I were to visit again I would study it ...

A travel blog entry by samphilpott

This is a top pick!

... who I am remove them and its not me…(see the photo and decide yourself!!!)

Tuesday 11th January

Today I officially become a resident of Egypt! No I have not married…All tourists visiting Egypt automatically get a 30 day visa upon entry. We get them at the airport and they cost £10. It was so easy . I had to give them a passport photo, fill in a very straightforward form, with hardly any detail all I said was I wanted to extend my stay to be with Alaa and ...

Stay Away !!!!! The Worst Hotel I Have Ever Been To

Firstly I would just like to say that I have never written a bad review about a hotel before, but my husband and I go on about 4 holidays a year ranging from 3-5 stars and felt compelled to warn other british travellers about this hotel.

    Give this one a miss!!

My daughter and I stayed here from 26 October for one truly disappointing and very long week.

Terrible Service - NOT 5 STAR!!!

Please do not expect a 5 star experience at this hotel!!! We've just arrived home this morning and i feel the need to warn people exactly what to expect... We read the reviews, checked out the website and looked forward to what promised to be a fantastic last minute break.. I'm realistic, we didn't pay a fortune but we paid enough to expect good service - The hotel is new basically set in a building site, 30 minutes away from the centre £20 taxi fare.. The hotel itself is a stunning building, beautiful swimming pools (freezing cold, but lovely).. But then you meet the staff.. we arrived in the reception, our rep took out accomodation vouchers off us to hand to reception never to be seen again. The reception area was heavy with angry mainly russian customers, after nearly 2 hours of continually explaining to the reception staff that none of us had vouchers as they had already been handed to them we eventually were given a room, Not a great start but the room was nice and clean (although others said theirs weren't) we then went to the restaurant for a meal... Well its a massive canteen with hundreds of russians oushing you out of the way to get at the food (the food isn't great!!) we struggled to find clean plates and glasses, we had to clear a table ourselves and when we asked for cutlery, the waiters went around the dirty tables and collected anything that looked half clean, it was absolutely disgusting. Most people were ill all week, most likely from the food (as much of it appeared under cooked) The experience didn't improve much all week. The only way to get through it was to make sure you went for your meals bang on time, cleaned your own tables and sorted out your own crockery and cutlery.

    100%Rückerstattung der Reisekosten gefordert !!!!!!

Alles in allem katasrophal.

    Not soooooooooooooooo good

This hotel is far from a 5 Star and struggles to compare to some 3 star hotels i have been in. The hotel in its self is beautiful but from arriving to leaving the service is abysmal. The reception staff are unhelpful and on the first night we all had to sleep together in one bed. You had to fight over glasses and cutlery with the Russian's at breakfast and dinner and the food was very poor. My wife and my 13 year old were poorly for most of the week and on my return to the uk i am now not too good. The hotel has glimmers of hope as it does have a few very good staff members but i feel that most of them didn't care about you and really weren't expected to by the management team.

    Loved it soooooooooooooo Much

Just had to write about this hotel, it is newly opened in a very quiet area of Hurghada.Just right for relaxation, like heaven on earth. The rooms are out of this world, fabulous, the staff are superb, the food is great, the pool is enormous and you are right on the red sea.If you want to go to the centre they have a shuttle bus for about £2.30 return, just book with guest relations, they are so helpful. As are all the staff, the manager in the restraunt was fantastic, as I needed special food for medical reasons, and this was NO problem. The housekeeping could not do enough for me regarding anything you require from them.As the hotel is new I booked it as room only (fully inclusive) and got my own way there from Luxor, I only stayed a short time to try the hotel, but it was too short I wanted to stay when it was time to go back to Luxor. It was worth every penny, I felt like the owner I could not have been treated better if I had been. I have used ALL the Pyramisa hotels in Egypt which are very nice, but this one was superb as it was brand new, first time I have had a new room in a hotel.
