Beautiful Resort, Beach and Ocean
I recently travelled to the Punta Cana Princess. This resort is top-notch. I have travelled to other destinations in the Dominican and Carribean, but by far I would have to say that the service, resort and beach at the Punta Cana Princess was by far the best that I ever encountered. The food was delicious and no one got sick. The beach is beautiful and the ocean is clean and clear. The people at the resort are very nice. This is a new resort so it is very reasonably priced. I imagine by this time next year that price will be similar to the other 4+ - 5 star resorts located in Punta Cana. If you are looking for a quiet place to travel to and love this beach you will love this place.
We had a wonderful time at the Punta Cana Princess resort. We were two families traveling together with a total of 4 children ages 3 -12. I was very nervous after reading several of the positing on this site but everything was great!Transfer and Accomodations; we were picked up promptly at the airport and driven to our resort by a very friendly and informative representive from VIP Vacations. Our arrival at the resort was without incident and check in was smooth. They were kind enough to change our room so that we could be in close proximity to our friends. The rooms were large, bright, and very clean. We had 2 queen beds, a sunken living room with a couch with a trundle bed. There was a TV with the disney channel for the children and a fridge filled with water, soda and beer daily. The maids kept the room clean and left plenty of wash cloths and fresh flowers!Beach and pool were also great. The sand is amazing and the water a pretty blue/green. There was never a problem with clean beach towels and we alway found a spot at the pool. If you don't mind not having a front row cabana there are also plenty of spots at the beach. We frequently spent mornings at the beach in the sun and then moved to the pool area in the afternoon.Food - well no one got sick, which was my biggest concern after reading some of the postings. In addition to the buffets there are 3 restaurants were you must make a reservation to eat, but there is no additional cost. The food at the restaurants was very good a step up from the buffet. The buffet was fine and offered some adventureous options in addition to fairly plain foods. The staff were all wonderful and very engaging. They were interested in making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves. We had a great time and would highly recommend a vacation at the Punta Cana Princess.
Dream Vacation - Totally Awesome!!
This was my second time to Punta Cana and decided to pick this resort because it was new and smaller than most others. Well it was the best decision we ever made. Absolutely loved everything about the place. Rooms were just beautiful. The maid kept them shiny clean with decorative swans and flowers all around. The Animation Staff were fantastic and very friendly and kept us busy with activities day and night. The Guest Services staff were fabulous too. Whenever you wanted something they were at your service. No lineups to book restaurants and you could book them for your whole stay at once. The food was great...lots of restaurants to choose from and all had excellent service and the food was beyond my expectations. Of course the weather and the beaches were fabulous too. Each day spent there was like living in a dream world!!! I would certainly return to this resort and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Had A Great Time!
We stayed at this resort between Apr 2-9. We had a great time. My wife & I are in our early 40's and we have looked at this resort after friends recently returned from there. This is our first trip to the Caribbean and to an all-inclusive resort.
Rooms & Housekeeping: The rooms were clean & spacious, the bar fridge was well stocked. We had a ground floor room (4020). At first our rooms were cleaned early in the morning but as week went on, the rooms were cleaned much later into the early afternoon. The rooms in 3, 4, & 5 Block backed onto the LTI Resort. On occasion there was a strong smell of garbage once you left your room, however the smell did not get into our room.
Food & Drink: We ate mainly at our resort, but we did eat at the Caribe Princess buffet. Both buffets offered a large variety of food choices, with a different theme every night. The Caribe buffet was much larger because it has to serve a lot more people. We enjoyed all the al la carte restaurants at the resort. For lunch, if we did not eat at the buffet restaurant we ate at the snack bar/restaurant. It had a variety of fast food including pizza, fries, hamburgers and hotdogs. Make sure you ask that the hamburgers are cooked "well done", they tend to be a bit undercooked. All the drinking water at this resort is purified & bottled, our tour representative indicated that the fruit and vegetables are also washed with this water. We were advised not to drink the tap water. The entire bar staff were friendly and quick to serve you.
Amenities: The pool was clean, large and was not extremely busy. We were able to get lounge chairs under the huts as late as 10:00 am. The beach was very clean with white sand (no shells), there was some seaweed that washed up. We were able to get lounge chairs on the beach as well without any problems. There were several stores by the lobby that sold food items, liquor, clothing, medication, sunscreen etc.
Beware, costs for these items are much higher than you would pay at home (300-600%). There was internet access off the lobby, however, this service was down all of the times we went to use it. The cost for 30 minutes is $7US. We eventually went to the internet cafe at the Caribe Princess, it was $5US for 30 minutes. The watersports provider (Pelican) provided a variety of activities from para sailing $45US for one person, $70US for a tandem ride. Snorkelling was $20US per person, scuba diving was $180US per dive. A ride on the banana boat was $6US person for 15 minutes. Spa amenities were available, we had stress & relaxation massage that cost $30US per person for 30 minutes. Shopping is available in town, but we did not go. There were local vendors on the beach about a 10 minute walk from the resort that sold jewellery, clothing, alcohol, cigarettes, cigars and souvenirs. Bartering is suggested, we bought some t-shirts for our children. The stores on the resort were selling them for $8US each. The vendors on the beach started their price there, but we managed to buy three of them for $15US. For the ladies, you could get your hair braided for $1US a braid, or $30US for your whole head. There were locals braiding near the vendors on the beach and they were charging a bit less for your whole head. There is no ATM at the resort. We felt safe at the resort and on the beach. The resort was patrolled with security and the police travelled on ATV's on the beach. The resort does provide free use of a in room safe which we used.
A tram will take you from this resort to the Caribe Princess. You can walk there but it is a long walk. The Caribe is more established, it has a lot more vegetation and is a lot busier. If you are looking for a quite place to rest and relax, I strongly suggest this resort. If you want do more (disco & theatre) access to the Caribe is available. The VIP package is available the resort, even if you did not purchase it with your package. The VIP package costs $15US per person/per day if there is more than 3 days left in your vacation. It costs $25US per person/per day with 2 or less days. For some it proved advantageous because it does include a massage, horseback riding, free dive and dinner at the La Cava a la carte restaurant ($25 per person extra).
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Punta Cana Princess and would return to the resort for another vacation.
Paradise on Earth -- We will never forget it
Hola, we had the best trip at the Punta Cana Princess hotel, March 19 to 26th. This all-inclusive resort was absolutely beautiful, safe & fun. We got cheap room, or "Superior" as they call it & was plenty BIG with great air cond. The room was clean and pleasant service. The buffet was excellent & alot of variety. We have the opportunity to book 3 "a la carte" restaurant at our hotel & 6 at the Caribe club Princess. The beach was wonderfull. It was a good idea to put towels down on chair under parasol by 7:30 am. The pool was clean, the employees were friendly. The bartender "Roselin" was very nice. The animations guys were great. We went on Monster Safari tours, which was very interesting, we saw much of the country side, real dominican home, sugar can etc. 1 week was too short. We are going back to this resort again & we highly recommend it to everyone. Enjoy & relax you are on vacation.
Had a great time
Our family of 4 just returned from vacation at the Punta Cana Princess and had a great time. The rooms are very nice, and large enough for 4 people comfortably. The housekeeping staff did a great job, but it is helpful to have a spanish dictionary to help you communicate what you need. If we needed anything extra in our room( towels ,water, beer etc.) , we called guest services and they responded very quickly. It is one of the benefits of this being a smaller resort. My husband and I wondered whether we would have liked the larger resort better, but we both felt we would stay at this one again. You have access to the Caribe Club anyway if you want a change, but it is a much more crowded atmosphere. We ate at the Steak House and the Italian restaurants at the Punta cana Princess, and the Italian Restaurant at the Caribe Club, in addition to the buffets at both places. Every meal was great....my husband highly recommends the Lasagna at Mama Mia(Caribe Club) If you are traveling with kids... my daughter is extremely fussy and ate very well there. She loved the italian restaurants, and they always have hamburgers, french fries and pizza available somewhere. The only problem we ran into was for my kids age group(9 and 12)...the teen club is only available at the Caribe Club and starts at age 12, and the kids club at the Punta Cana Princess catered to mainly the younger kids.
Since my kids wanted to stay together we didn't get to take advantage of the clubs. The animation staff was great with our kids though. They included them in dart tournaments, dance lessons, spanish lessons etc.
They had a great time too!
Wonderful new property with attentive service
Just returned from Punta Cana Princess. Celebrated 25Th wedding anniversary there. Wonderful new property. Very attentive service by resort staff especially Pedro, Kelvin, Selenny from Animation, Odalis main lobby bar and bell hops. LaCava a must for fine dining.
Reservations should be made a couple of days in advance. Noticed tipping inadequate for quality of service from other resort guests
Amazing, Unforgetable, must stay resort
Before I went on my trip, I had read reviews about the food and hotel. The reviews were; hotel amazing but food wasn't good. Well, now having experienced the Punta Cana Princess and all it has to offer, I must say the hotel is amazing, incredible as well as the food, even the presentation was amazing. I don't know what the people were smoking at the time but all the people that were there agreed with me as well. I would definitly stay there again. The service was outstanding. Even some of the hotel workers went in to town and got me some rum the very expensive stuff for $4 US dollers for 1 litre compared to $20 or more in the stores that I might had to pay. Very nice people. I loved it and would definitly return to this hotel again. Prices were fantastic as well!
Paradise at a bargain rate
Firstly, I would like to thank this site for the valuable info that I found just before booking my holiday. We are a 31 year old couple, seasoned travelers, and quite demanding where quality is concerned. I have been in some of the finest hotels around the world and therefore recognise quality when I see it. Howere, when you go to the Carribean, you obviously "let your hair down" and don't demand the same service as in London or Paris. We were booked for another hotel (Grand Paradise), but after visiting the tripadvisor.com, I was worried with some of the negative reviews and we managed to change, just in time, to the Punt Cana Princess. And thank Heavens we did because it was a fantastic 2 week holiday - 8/03/2004 till 23/03/2004.The P.C. Princess s a brand new hotel, and belongs to the Princess group. Very little information is available on it, so I will try to be as thorough as possible.Location: One of the main advantages of this hotel it its location - it is very well located, close to a shopping centre and right in the middle of a lovely sort of bay, whereby you have a fantastic view down the beach, unlike other resorts we visited. On its left (looking at the sea) is the LTI and on it's right is the sister resort Caribe Club. Next to the caribe club is the Paradisus and next to that is the Bavaro Princess. The advantage of staying at our hotel is that we had the convenience of a smaller resort, but could use the facilities of the large one. At our resort, everything is closer and you do not need to trek 10 minutes to get to the reception! Staff were very friendly - and their friendlyness made up for their lack of professionalism at times.Room: We stayed in suite 4218, with a great ocean and pool view. The bed and bathroom were good. Everything clean. And we could see the sea from our bed. And the ceiling fan is a plus for those who don't like to sleep with air conditioning on. You even have a coffee machine in your room. There is a mini bar stocked with beer, cooldrinks and 1/2 litre water bottles. The tv's are big and with enough channels.Cleanness: The resort was clean, there were always people cleaning the public areas. Maintenance is ok.Animation (entertainment): The animation staff are splendid and we made fast friends with all of them. For me, one of the best features is the water gym every morning in the sea (fantastic) and the step aerobics on the beach, under the palm trees. I exercised alot, danced and enjoyed myself.Gardens: Because the resort is new, the grass is still coming along and the trees, although big, still need to broaden out. Obviously if still needs time. But the garden between this hotel and its sister (Caribe Club) is amazing, like a little tropical jungle. A nice detail is the soft music that echoes in the garden, sometimes its birds, other times its the sound of the ocean, and other times, just plain soft music.Food: The food is good, I am very sensitive and we never got ill, except for the night they served crayfish. I come from South Africa and I know my fish and I commented on the slightly strong smell it had... but we still ate, although somewhat suspiciously, and the next day we had a bit of diarrea! Take imodium just in case. We stayed 2 weeks which means that by then you start getting slightly tired of the food. However, it was nice at the buffet and they even got me sliced carrots when I asked.Shopping: The shopping stalls are about 1 km from the Caribe resort, so get the free shuttle to the sister hotel and from there, get a taxi into town for 5 US dollars, or just walk for +- 10 minutes. There are also little stalls down the beach. Go down to the Left, go past the LTI resort and you arrive at the little shops on the Beach. Good bargains there. Dont forget to buy paintings, they are lovely, cheap, but watch out when they are wrapped because some get bad cracks in the paint work if they are tightly wrapped. We bought some 10 painting and lovely wooden carvings for our new house. Dont forget to "negotiate" the price, down to half of what they ask.Diving: The hotel has a nice diving centre, all equipmente disinfected, and we had a great snorkling trip with them. However, it saddend me to see that all sea stars and sea shells have disappeared from the ocean bed because the locals do not respect nature. Also alot of broken coral, due to people who tread on them. We loved feeding the fish. Take bananas and lots of bread - it it an unforgettable experience to have fish eating out of your hands.Weather: When we got there, the weather was improving. We had one week of fairly strong wind, but it was still nice on the beach because the palapas (little huts) knock off the wind. It is tropical, so one minute its sunny, the next it is raining, and then sunny again. And always hot.WARNING: Do not buy sea shells. They are practically on the verge of extinction and are illegal. One of the canadian couples we befriended, got stopped at the airport, the shells were confiscated and he had to pay a heavy fine. Anyway, we understand why they take such drastic action:we were by the stalls when we saw 2 locals arrive in a boat with some live sea shells; we watched helplessly as one local stuck his fingers in, and tried to hurt the little animal inside. he then broke a piece of the shell, inserted a horrible, blunt, hook-like instrument, and stabbed the little animal and dragged pieces of it through the little hole. My friend nearly passed out and I threw up! It is undescribable, the way the little animal rushed to and fro, in a terrible panic, not knowing where to hide. The suffering that we witnessed still brings tears to my eyes - the little animal pays dearly with its life because it lives in a beautiful shell. Please do not buy any shells because you will only be helping this terrible, bloody trade, wherby these beautiful creatures are on the verge of extinction.Overall: Everything is new, in good condition and everything works. Another plus, is the fact that the hotel was not at full capacity, therefore we had personalised service, unlike the sister hotel Caribe Club, where there are lots of people. There were more couples than families, lots of canadians, some spanish and few portuguese. We (and our friends) enjoyed it and will go back - the people are very nice. It is not a delux hotel, but its clean, very comfortable, nice food, with lots to do during the day, a disco at the other hotel, and you will enjoy it too! For more info, feel free to contact us.
Had a great time...
Punta Cana Princess: -Place is only 4 months old - very
new/clean/organized -a bit smaller than others (which is good) -good
for kids (wading pool, fun club & mini-disco) -right in between the LTI
& Bavaro Caribe Club resorts -Food was good. Selection from 3
restaurants & buffet (which changed themes every night). You may also
use the other restaurants next door at Caribe Club (good too!) -service
was good / plenty of staff -other than the typical water sports stuff,
there is nothing to do on the property. This resort did have a nice spa
complex right next door. -There is a nearby casino at a different hotel
(we didn't like D.M.'s casinos - we went to 2 - they are small &
unprofessional). -Golf was 30 minutes away. Nice to play on but too

... that you could attend with a reservation so if you wanted to go that route you could. All in all the food gets a passing grade but I did not come here for a "culinary experience."
If I were to rate my time here I would give it a four our of five stars. Also on a side note this place had Peacocks running around which was a pretty cool thing to have wonder onto your porch.
