The service was good the food palatable. The atmosphere was such that we felt that we were on vacation. It was very hot though and the Air conditioner did not function properly. The sporting events that were organized by the staff were fun and competitive. The property seem a bit too large and overwhelming, Transportation was required to get from the main checking lobby, Casino, and Dance Club.

Just returned from a 4 day trip to Punta Cana and found it to be GREAT! We stayed at the Grand Paradius Bavaro and had a really good time. The staff and accomadations were great! For those of you that complained and cried about Punta Cana, my advice is STAY HOME!. This resort is nice and we found no problems. I would definitely recommend a trip to Punt Cana.
I'll say the positive first about my vacation that I just came back from. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with tropical plants, windy paths. Very clean with no litter noted anywhere. The beach was wonderful though the waves were a bit rough at times. It was comfortably cool with the trade breezes blowing at all times. The food was Ok though the Mexican restaurant was superior. There was plenty of food all around and never left hungry (but usually stuffed). The service was OK but the biggest problem was the communication getting through. My friend and I speak very little Spanish which made it frustrating for us and the staff. They tried their best to be accomodating though and I commend them for it. Our biggest complaint was the air conditioniong. Our rooms were warm (we went with a group) and even the fitness center's AC was on the blink. Many guests I spoke with complained. Some even changed their rooms multiple times. Even still with the problems we encountered we still had a great time. Met terrific people. Loved the horse back riding trip.(That was the highlight)
Some of the happiest employees I have ever seen or met. 90% greeted you in passing and offered assistance if needed. Very dedicated employees - I wish I could send a load of weed-eaters and hedge trimmers to the laborers maintaining the beautiful grounds with machettes. (They seemed happy to do so their job- and very precise with their aim!)
Wonderful place with Plenty of Food during the day at the buffets! Great Beach and nice daytime breezes during the day!
Our only problem was with ice- I believe it's imported from Alaska and they treat it like gold. No ice machines on the grounds- you have to call room service for ice (heilo) and it arrives in small portions. Give a dollar tip and you may get a half bag of ice in an hour or so. (If you like your beer or drinks Cold? Forget it.
Alberto in the Lobby Bar is Awesome and the live shows are awesome as well. Don't make breakfast dates w/ t-share employees-miss date and get hounded- almost stalked. Otherwise LOVED IT!
stayed there for about 5 days. it has the most amazing swimming pool. all the food were great. only one problem one the time share worker was a a-hole towards my wife to a point we thougt he was a nut following her around even after we told him to stop.

All we can say is Excellent. We really had no problems. We were the only ones on our plane to stary at this resort and it seemed we had the best one. Our Spanish was terrible but everyone was willing to help us out. The staff was very accomadating. Just to name a few, Franklin and Vincent, the pool bartenders made us excellent drinks and if they didn't know what it was we told them. They were happy to make it for us. They are very good booty shakers also. Pedro, the activities manager, could light us a room with his smile, he even taught us how to merengue. Rigo, childrens activites, was very friendly, helpful and loved to have a good time. We met alot of fun people from other countries and they loved to dance and have a great time. Just relax and join in. Our room was located in a great spot, and kept clean. The restaurants were good and there is alot to choose from. Shopping was a very close walk. We were very comfortable walking around. It was a beautiful vacation. The beach was great, it was hot, but we cooled off at the pool bar. Very relaxing.
A Wonderful Vacation
We just got back, I'll get the downside out of the way first. Check-in is 3pm, they didn't have a room ready for us til 5:30pm. We didn't have maid service until about 4:00pm everyday, which I think is pretty late but I honestly don't have enough vacationing experience to compare it to. The food was okay, they do a good job at offering variety. I found the staff very helpful and polite. Most don't know english, but this gave us an opportunity to exercise our spanish, (It's polite to at least make an attempt to speak their language). The water sports are great, we went scuba diving, we tried and failed at kayaking, they have windsurfing, snorkeling - all-inclusive. They also have tours and other sports that are extra but worth it, like parasailing. Never a dull moment, we had a hard time deciding whether to relax or get into all the fun. The pina coladas are fantastic. We would definitely go again. This time we want to go with other couples our age, there weren't too many couples in our age group (mid to late 20's), mainly 30's-50's. Bring your own towels, you'll need the extra especially if you frequent the beach, they don't give washcloths. The activities are primarily on one end of the resort, but they do have trolley cars that operate frequently dropping you off close to your room, to the lobby and also near all the sport and restaurant areas.
The name says it all
The Paradisus Resort in Punta Cana is the best. The people are so friendly and they try to help you as best as they could. The rooms were very nice. I would recommend a bungalow near the the pool (# 9, 10, 11) It really is the cest location. It is near the beach, pool, and most of the resturants. In terms of the bars, dont be afraid to ask for American porducts. They have them. They just dont display it. They have Heineken and Becks (non-alcoholic). The food was really good too. Make your reservations the day you arrive for your entire trip. It makes things alot easier and guarantees you a reservation. I would definately recommend El Romantico (french), El Rodizio (brazilian) and the Chinese place. I would recommend bringing down some pepto-bismol and take it every day. Your body does take some time getting used to everything, so dont freak out if you feel kinda sick. I would also have to say that you should at least see one show while you are there. They are actually really good. Also, even though tipping is not required, you may want to bring down a whole bunch of ones. Especially for the bar tender. If you give the bartenders a tip, the next time you want a drink, they will be there is a flash. Sometimes, it pays off. Overall, it was a great trip. Just sit back, relax, and dont get conned into going to look at any times shares~
Not worth the money
Our family visited Paradisus Punta Cana last week. While the accomodations were acceptable, they certainly were not "5-star" as the reviews indicated. We requested and confirmed a king bed and only had two doubles available. We were harrassed by sales reps to tour other area hotels;
when you tried to indicate you only had 3 days to enjoy and did not want to tour other resorts, they became rude and forceful. The food was not even mediocre in my opinion; the buffet never changed and offered breads, salads, and minimal meats (mostly salmon, shark, tuna, and squid). I saw shrimp one time at the grill. The bars did not carry blend liquior (Crown Royal) and the ice drinks were difficult to drink--not tasty at all. The flight was miserable---no leg room, overly cramped, broken seats and
filthy dirty. No Vacations Express rep at the resort, so you were on your own to determine what time transport departed for airport. Flight was delayed so we waited, unknowingly, at the lobby for 2 hours until an Apple Vacation rep notified us that she had "heard" the flight was delayed. The transport held up a bus load of people to wait on 2 rude couples who could not check out on time, therefore delaying the entire bus for 40 minutes.
I would not recommend this trip as it was not good value for the money spent.
This hotel was great and by talking to others on the plane we had the best hotel and i would never stay anywhere else the people were very friendly and helpful had a rocky start (no showerhead) but that was taken care of very quickly. I recommend some activites/excursions take merngue lessons, the Saona island excursion and also the Outback safari if you are looking for the Dominican culture. Overall the trip was a very good time and i will enjoy coming back !!!
Paradisus Punta Cana
Grounds were beautiful, rooms were nice and well-kept, people were generally friendly and accomodating. Diving and snorkeling are poor (very few reefs and the ones present were badly damaged). Beach was beautiful, but very windy as it is on the Atlantic side of the island. Make reservations at the restaurants in advance, as we never had a chance to eat at the seafood restaurant. French restaurant was very good, but terribly understaffed. The resort was booked to the limit and it appeared that it was understaffed for so many visitors. Best excursion was the speed boat/catamaran trip to Saona island. Heard from others that the Monster Truck island adventure was extremely disappointing. The Paradisus did sound like the nicest resort in Punta Cana per conversations on our excursions and the plane with other travelers.

We finally managed to get into one of the onsite restaurants. We had dinner this evening at La Luna Steakhouse. You do not have to pay at the restraints but you do need a reservation and it can take days to be able to get in. Regardless of the wait it was a great experience. La Luna is set on one of the many interconnected ponds, so there is plentiful wildlife surrounding you throughout your candle lit dining experience. The ducks, ...
We gave the local market another try today and actually bought a few souvenirs. We managed to fend off their overly aggressive sales tactics, but it just about finished me. I've heard enough 'cheapie cheapie', 'best price', and 'bless my store' to last me a lifetime. I really don't think that they ...
Today was spent on the resort, not the beach, just in and around the resort grounds. We took the time to walk the grounds some more and see the wildlife up a little closer. There are quite a variety of birds living on the grounds. The ones we recognize are peacocks, pigeons, geese, flamingos and cranes. There are several species that we do not recognize as well. In the ponds there are turtles, a variety of fish and very large toads or ...
... church, Cathedral of Santo Domingo, was ornate and looked as though it belonged in Europe.
On another day, we took a boat to Saona Island as part of a tour where we are bbq, fruit and collected seashells that we brought home with us. We went through a cave complex (called Los Tres Ojos) with crystal clear blue ponds and fossils all around. On our way home, we stopped at a tobacco farm, and for Dave this might have been the highlight of the trip. He'd grown his ...
... Then we went to a shop and they had a bathroom there. 10 minutes or so, then we switched to a bigger bus with more snorkelers. Our boat was the Passion Paradise. It was owned by an English woman who was very involved in trying to save the sea, more so then the others anyway. We had 2 dives, the first at the Wall, about 60 feet for 45 minutes. It was good. We saw a lot of fish, pretty colors. Much more coral and sponges then over by ...
