Lots of fun in the sun
Lots of fun, great staff with energy to burn. The nightly show was amazing. Huge extravaganzas with costumes, dance numbers and lots of work. The rooms were clean, we had 6 of us and our rooms were seperated into a condo type area with a wonderful main floor patio off one of the rooms. The showers had been repaired in 2 rooms but replaced with hand held shower heads which are really useless. The food was plentiful and good with lots of choices. We were travelling with picky eaters and a vegetarian which proved not a problem even at Miranda's which was mostly meat. The staff was fast to notice and amend the situation. Lots of activities happening all day at the beach and the pool side. There is a pool you can go to that will allow you to avoid the games and activities. The staff at the beach was great also. My children are 15 to 22 and they all had a wonderful time. The vendors on the beach approach but are very polite and will leave you when you tell them no thank you. It was a great time and we will go back soon.
Pros and cons - awful Kid's club!
I just returned from a Christmas week spent at Club on the Green. The property is located alongside a golf course on a well-kept stretch of greenery and gardens. It is visibly older than some of its Playa Dorada counterparts and has some areas which require improvement and some which are great as they are. Pros: A very nice room with a beautiful walk-out patio on the ground floor. The room was clean and pretty.
Staff were pleasant and the two a la carte restaurants were great - especially Miranda's. The beach was pleasant and there was a nice quiet stretch to walk. Staff were generally friendly, but a touch complacent.
One staff of the Fun Club going by the name of "Papa Santo" was very energetic and committed to creating a nice atmosphere for guests Cons: the Kid's club instructor (Tania) was truly horrible. Not only was she generally absent - when she did take the kids - she didn't watch them - she actually left them sitting alone, or in one case left a 3-year old alone on the beach. I am a single parent and booked the trip for me and my child based on the offer of 9am - 9pm supervised activities. You will not find a Kid's Club Facilitator during much of that time frame.
There is a schedule on the kid's club wall - it is completely bogus, none of the activities take place. With contstant prodding you might get her to keep your kid from dying while you swim for a half hour - but that's about it. The pool is as sad as it's brochure picture and not terribly clean. The beach hut snack area does not have a great selection. All mixed drinks are made with that sugar-goo that comes from a spinning container on the wall. I did not pay brochure prices for my trip as I bought it at the last minute, and I do feel what I got was fair for the money - had I paid full-price I would have been complaining. I saw the hotel rated as a 2 star and as a 3.5 star elsewhere - it is running around a 2.5 it seems. In addition, I must say overall staff were wonderful, they are holding the place together, even though there is a sense that the place is sort of falling apart.
Best holiday ever
There were 11 of us that stayed in this hotel, which included 3 children. From the moment we got there we were entertained. The rooms were clean and well looked after and the security was excellent. There was always something to do and chacal and papa santos made sure everyone joined. The shows that the entertainment staff put on were amazing, and they showed real talent. Our family must have come home with about 13 bottles of rum from all the games we won.But we could not have asked for a better holiday, and we must have laughed everyday.we still laugh now just thinkin about it.I would advise everyone to go to this hotel if they are considering going to the Dominican Republic for their holiday.
A fabulous family holiday...
We have just come back from a fabulous family holiday at The Club on the Green. From the moment we arrived we felt special. All the staff were friendly and courteous, always greeting you with a big smile and an "ola". Our accomodation was clean, spacious, and tastfully decorated, not a speck of dust or a cobweb in site. The rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels and the toiletries replenished. Every room has air-conditioning plus, a ceiling fan, and a television. Our 12 and 9 year old children thought they had gone to food heaven...The buffet, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner was spectacular. Always something for the children, mine are quite adventurous with their food, and tried most things. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented, fruit and salad bar divine! There are 2 restaurants that you are entitled to eat at once a week, Miranda's- heaps of various meats served from long skewers, and Firenze-A la Carte menu (faultless). The poolside snack bar served hamburgers/hotdogs/chips/salad for most of the day if a trip into the restaurant was too energetic. The entertainment staff are so full of energy, always something to get involved in if you wish to during the day(children or adults). In the evenings, always something happening, mainly on the stage. They put on the most incredible shows in the 2 weeks we were there, some amazing talent. There are 2 pools; 1 very small but quiet and tranquil (no children), the other not huge, but big enough for a game of water polo at one end, a cool down swim before setting off to the swim-up bar for a cocktail. The beach is an easy 10-15 min stroll past the golf course, or you can catch the tractor and trailer from the hotel. Lovely idyllic beach, bar and snack bar, clean loos, watersport equipment, loungers, all to hand. For the return journey we would travel by horse and trap (costing approx. 60 pesos-£1.50) the children loved it. I could actually rave on about our holiday to The Club on the Green, anyone who could find a major complaint must be at the wrong place! I will for one will be returning, and I hope anyone reading this will ignore anything bad you've heard and have a fantastic Holiday at The Club on the Green.
Well Worth The Money
we (a family of four ) really enjoyed our stay here the food was well presented the rooms were clean and spacious and the entertainment was what impressed us most of all.the staff were verry friendly especially CHACALwho seemed to run all the activities during the day and be the star of the shows at night especially his M ichael Jackson impressionand Fanny and the girls tried there hardest to teach the men how to merengue.the only down side was the price of golf even with a discount was expensive and outside there wasn,t really a lot to see.if anyone has been recently could you let us know if Chacal.George Jesus and Wiltonare still working there.
Excellent vacation, great price
the all inclusive was exactly that, everything included and excellent food, service, drinks, and activities. The only minor complaint is a meal was to be included for each special restaurant on site and the rest of the meals were at the buffet, cafe, snack bar, etc. Immediately we attempted to make reservation for the special restaurants and take away nights each restaurant is closed, reservations options (book completely for evenings) or reservations available at 10PM or later, could only make reservations for one of the seven. When we did go to the italian restaurant, most of the tables were empty. Obviously they make it difficult or impossible to take advantage of this part of the "all inclusive deal". There was still plenty of fantastic food all day and into the late evening at lots of locations through out the resort. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We did not like the room with the pool view" which was a stretch of the imagination, yet they moved us immediately to adjoining rooms as requested with an awesome ocean view. Entertainment each evening was fun and most nights very entertaining. Security was excellent. Some found drinks watered down, I do not believe this to be the case. From bottled water, to soda, to shots of liquor and everything in between , enjoyed!
Best holiday in my life
This time it was our third time in this hotel. Everything was fine: the food is very good and there is so much different food, the rooms are very clean, the people working there are very friendly and help where ever they can. I am really looking forward to go there again in two or three months. Everytime I was there with different people but all of them will come back soon, because they also enjoyed their holiday so much. So, people, try it and I am sure you will enjoy it too. Sandra
The Caribbean Village Club on the Green is at best a 2 star hotel. From the dirty "villa" to the limit on how much bottled water you are allowed to receive, this vacation was the absolute worst of my life. The conditions of the superior rooms were far from that. They were dirty and smelled. The doors barely closed to the porch and the front door was so weak it could have been kicked in by a child. The food was edible but just barely. breakfast was the best mean of the day since you could request eggs. The problems did not end with just the awfulness of the rooms and location since the staff and fun were on par. The male staff had no problem making advances to any semi attractive woman whether they were with men or not. I even witnessed one trying to pick up a 14 girl who was eating lunch alone. The discussion of what they can offer with restaurants and a sports bar is just laughable. You are allowed to visit each restaurant only 1 time and the sports bar was never open.
All in all if you have any expectations for anything greater than a place to sleep and to be nourished for the week, I advise to run fast to another location possibly a new portion of the island.
A relaxing holiday
this was our 3rd visit to this hotel we enjoyed our holiday once again, we enjoyed the peace and quiet around the adult pool, no noise no children a total rest we will be definatly returning again
General sum up of holiday spent here in 2002
This is a great place to visit!!! You are well looked after and the food is very good, catering for all tastes.(We were there beginning june 2002)
A MUST is mosquito repellent- get the plug ins for the rooms to keep bites to a minimum. After it has rained you will find it bad for mosquito's so go out with long sleeves if possible. The beach is great with its own private bar/snack bar. There are many sellers on the beach and if your not interested just say a polite 'no thanks'.
you can barter as I did for 'T' shirts. A safe bet is to go for half the asking price and stick to it. We went horse riding (not evening) and was well catered for. There are trips to an aquapark but its a bit unsafe- there were numerous injuries including quite a few bumped heads/cuts/bruises. I would not recommend a trip there. Beware of people offering cheap trips- generally they are ill or not insured. stick to organised trips by your rep.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay at this complex. Nice and relaxing.
