... and after a walk into town,drop into the first restaurant we see on the front. Food was average at the pelicanos but the view and margarhitas were good. Night cap in an outdoor cocktail bar where we get introduced to some great sounds of a Brazilian female singer doing Bossa nova versions of everything from pink Floyd to soft cell. got to get that album.
Beach day with sun loungers (and brolly for me). Lots of time to think.
... at the same place I ate in August 2011 on my first time to the USA (onward to Houston). Good to be familiar with the airport and their security requirements. 4 hr flight later and I hit the surprisingly advanced/clean Cancun airport in Mexico where my pre-arranged driver was waiting to whisk me away to my hotel right in the middle of the Cancun hotel district which is like a long sand bar off the coast and the streets reminded me of a cross between Hollywood and Bali. ... although I was rather surprised to find out when we got home that it was 3am. What was in those Piņa Coladas? As it turned out, daylight saving had ended in Mexico so clocks went an hour back. It was a quiet day the next day with nothing of real interest. We had to say goodbye to some new friends and promised to catch up with some on a later date. We found the cooking school, but unfortunately it was
closed….so no cookbooks this trip.
I think we have accomplished all that we set out to do on
this trip. A week is short but I think I am ready to go home……..I miss
work……….. ;-) !!

... the main attractions are in the Chichen Nuevo (new) and the very impressive Castillo pyramid dominates the site. We managed to walk round the whole site in around 2 hours and were very glad it was a fairly cloudy day so we could try and make the most of the ruins.
