Merrils Beach 1 Negril

Up with the lark – almost! A day largely devoted to sitting in the sun and eating! Temperatures well into the high 80s+. Highlight (!) of the day was the approach of a US Coastguard cruiser to take off a sick passenger. Later a helicopter arrived to take said passenger from the Coastguard boat to Guatanamo Bay! We were sailing past Cuba at the time. This evening the captain spoke and praised the 800 crew from 38 nationalities (largest group ...

... 5 hours earlier than UK time). Smooth transfer to the Sea Princess which felt like coming home. Blackburn v Liverpool on the big screen. Cabin and steward fine. Eileen happy to have unpacked her suitcase. The boat sets sail at 19.30. Dinner at 20.30 (ie 01.30 Sunday morning!). Fortunately, we have a day at sea tomorrow so plenty of time to rest.

Diver: (digging into his pocket underwater pulls out a bunch of soaking wet bangles) Ok, den. How 'bout a bangle?
Us: No thanks, we already got one.
Diver: Ok, den. You wanna ride a jetski?
Us: No thanks, maybe another time.
Diver: Yah mon, ok den. how 'bout a smoke?
Craig: Haha, surely that will be a bit wet now?
Diver (grinning madly): Naaah mon. I got that sh** wrapped up nice and dry mon!

... as you will have more walking room inside. Balconies are small but at least they have a balcony.



The Honeymoon JS are very nice. Nice size with a sitting area that has a pullout sofa.

The 1 bedroom Suite is very spacious and a nice upgrade for someone wanting just a bit more room than the Honeymoon JS offers.



Seville Restaurant is ...

... schedule through out the week based on demand, Please check with the restaurant reservation desk after you check-in. I wanted so badly to eat at Luna de Mare but it was closed on Sunday night. To my delight I dined in Three Palms Restaurant, a beautiful setting until it started raining and the RAIN BUG came out – (You don’t want to know). The restaurant did an amazing job of moving everyone inside.

A few pointers – The Gold All-inclusive ...

... room. Very nice with a walk out patio to the beach. I recommend this accommodation over the Premium category.

The size was the same, but location…location…location and it had a balcony/patio to walk out on, somewhat smaller bathroom but ample space.



I checked in to a River Swim-up Suite today. WOW! Amazing accommodations with Butler service as well. Just a nice treat and ...

I spent almost a week in Negril, a long stretch of beaches along the western tip of Jamaica. Very popular with tourists. I walked the beach several times and I've been annoyed by the "farmers" and the like on a regular basis. They are sometimes aggressive. Better to walk along the road than the beach at night to/from the restaurant for obvious reasons. Nice sunsets.

... of their lives in Jamaica can be unsettling. Every year, they have to make their way to Kingston to renew their visas and be fingerprinted. It's quite an ordeal. There's lots of paperwork - always "one more form" to complete. She is attached to Ron's visa, so if he couldn't work here, she'd have to leave, too. Finding good employees in Jamaica is a challenge and she has been unable to find someone to help with her cheesecake business. As ...

Jamaica has gorgeous beaches, nice people and the craziest parties I had ever been to. We drove from Runaway Bay to Negril and enjoyed the 45 minutes ride more than I expected. There are small fishing villages everywhere and the scenery is really beautiful. It's highly recommended :)

... really want to do is become a PCVL (Peace Corps Volunteer Leader), its a position halfway between being a normal volunteer and Peace Corps staff. I would assist with training and help Volunteers once they have moved to site. I did a similar job at Fields, but this would be so much more rewarding. Things also continue to go well with Joe. Just thought everyone should know and be happy for me!
