A fantastic campsite with an abundance of space. Beautiful surroundings, plenty of wildlife and the facilities are great, especially the open air showers! If you are heading to Kakadu, make the effort to stop here en route.

Plenty of space, very quiet. Kanagroos in plenty in and around the grassy site.

Today we head to the Cooborree Billabong and spend the day on the water enjoying the sights and fishing. Lachie caught a Saratoga but no Barra yet....this billabong is widely known as the most picturesque in the region and it's easy to see why. Later in the afternoon we head back to the caravan park and cool off in the pool. In the evening the cane …

This morning we pack up the van and meet up with Grandma, Grandpa & Caitlin and head to Mary River Wetlands. We explore the visitor centre which provides a lovely view over the wetlands and listen to a ranger talk to learn more about the region. We then head out on a jumping croc cruise on the Adelaide River. This cruise is a real highlight - …

Day 1 - Darwin to Litchfield National Park (29/10)

First up, we have an admission to make. We were too busy enjoying this trip to make ANY notes about it. A lot of our blogs have been written a while after the event, but normally always based on rough notes taken at the time. For this trip we have nothing and now over a year has passed. …

          Mary River

After a leisurely morning we packed up to move on out of Berry Springs. We all had a few things to do at the shops so we split up and did what we had to do. The final activity of the morning was getting more lures, like the boys needed more.

We had a few hours to fill in before …

... rays, our passing of little concern.

We turn at the Billabongs end and return about 2klm to a connecting channel with the Mary River. The countryside multi shades of green and brown, with stands of tall Bamboo throwing the only shadows. All is quiet, all is cowering for the harsh sun now sitting high above. The soft growl of our idling motor the only sounds as we glide through this narrower and meandering stream ...
