    ... of the old city at the gate to the city. However, when the map was installed, it was discovered the map dated from the late 19th century. So the square built by Mussolini in 1939 (the main square) was not on the map. But in true Italian style (the guide's words, not mine), they decided to leave the out-dated map in place.

    Gallopili was an island fortress, with only a bridge link to the mainland. The castle was currently not open. However, we enjoyed walking around the walls, hanging onto hat and sunglasses so as not to have them blown away, retreating to the narrow streets when we needed a breather.

    ... had been our intended destination, but as most of the streets leading into town were closed, with police directing traffic....needs to be seen to be believed, we had no hope of getting close so kept on going.     ... is manu's birthday tomorrow, we had a few ideas up our sleeves for her. We decided to write a version of the backstreet boys - I want it that way - but revamp the lyrics into birthday ones. During manu's sleepy time, we ran to our van and recorded it with costumes on in the van.
