... and no taxi rank. We had arranged with our host Fausto, who's a doctor at the Lecce hospital to meet when he finished his shift, at 10 Via Vincenzo Morelli, in the heart of centro historico - the old walled town. He pulled up on his large motor bike just after our taxi dropped us off, and showed us up to the Mansarda, our home for a week. Today we returned to Otranto, which we visited five years ago on our first ever bike trip to Italy. The ride up the coast was gorgeous with rolling hills and sheer cliffs to the ocean; it was some of the best biking terrain we have seen. Otranto brings back very fond memories of time spent here with friends. We stayed in the same five ...

... on tandems. We also hiked up a long set of dual stone steps to the lighthouse and the Basilica of Santa Maria where we attended evening mass; the church was extremely well maintained even if the service in Italian was not that easy to understand. We finished the day with more seafood and a welcome rest at a B&B on the ocean. Thanks for coming along. Pictures of the day attached.
