      ... crudo (for a local flavour!) - my first eggs for 5 weeks! We've had wonderful vegetables from the local market - baby beans, baby eggplant, and zucchini with their flowers, fragrant fresh oregano, a variety of breads, cheese, local (Salento) wines and olive oil. But we've also had some lovely meals at cafés and restaurants. The painting of the beheadings is eerily similar to the recent beheadings we have seen on TV from ISIL and is a reminder that history has a tendency to repeat itself.       After 24 days of pedaling, fueled mostly by gelato, pasta and seafood, we completed our southward journey. Today we reached Santa Maria di Leuca, which is the southern tip of the Salento peninsula. We celebrated with a swim in the sea followed by a bottle of prosecco and, you guessed it, more seafood.
