The main reason for that was that I was sitting exams for the last couple of weeks for potential jobs with the UN and at the same time I have been working at a local dive shop getting my dive master certificate. I moved to Watamu on the coast of Kenya about a month ago, for wanting to get my dive master certificate with Steve Curtis. I figured that perhaps now is the time to do this, living in one of the most gorgeous beaches and having done over 200 dives.

    ... transportation and walking distance to most places, a great hub to meet very interesting people - for instance, I met a guy from Italy, who has travelled the world for the last 8 years and is now building a dhow to go sailing around the world, but he is going to stop along the way in different locations for example along the coast of Kenya to do little projects and help where help is needed. He is able to take upto 25 crew members at a time, I have to admit it is very tempting!

    ... weren't great which sucked but I was impressed that they decided to call off the dive due to the unsafe conditions. We headed back to shore and waited for the tides to change over some coffee, before going to the inner reef for a mid-morning dive. The visibility wasn't great but there was some great coral and you could sense how beautiful the outer reef was ...

    ... a day off. I catch up on some reading. At my accommodation I randomly get the shock of monkeys clambering on the roof or coconuts smashing against the corrugated metal roof. I was told there are more deaths from falling coconuts globally than shark or crocodile attacks. I end the day with a beer and food on a terrace next to the beach with a breeze for company. Mentally preparing for my role at the children's home and school tomorrow. It's my first day at school all over ...

    ... same until I end up in the toilet barefoot. There are some old Italian men hanging around with very young Kenyan women so there is a seedy element to the place. None of us say anything about it just in case one of them is a Don. Apparently it's a place where certain ladies ply their trade but I don't get approached. Can't work out whether I should be glad or disappointed about that. Bed at a reasonable 1am; 5 hours before ...
