This holiday is amazing, of course I went during Christmas break. So the Christmas lights were out which made the main room really beautiful. The people here are really friendly, really approachable. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family.

Loved the snorkling
I went to the Iberostar Punta Cana from Jan 6 to Jan 13. This is by far the best resort that I have ever stayed in. The only complaint that I had about the resort was that there buffet food was not that good. But I was always able to find something that I liked (on some days it was a burger or a hotdog). We ate at three specialty restaurants, the food was good at those. The place was spotless and the people were always happy and helpful. I had the oppertunity to check out some of the other resorts around there, and the Iberostar was by far the best. The beaches were always kept spotless and the water was great. The Iberostar Dominicana seemed like it was the same as the Iberostar Punta Cana, so if you find the Iberostar Dominicana to be cheaper, go for it. The room that we stayed in was always clean, and our fridge was always restocked. We did only one excursion, it was the snorkling trip that let us drive a two person speed boat. It costed about $54 and was fully worth it. I would go back to Punta Cana and I would go back to this resort.
Had a wonderful time!
I went to the resort with my best friend in Dec 2002. When we pulled up to the resort. I was so impressed. It's beautiful. The lobby is beautiful. The workers are very friendly. You have to pay for the security vault key and you pick up your remote which I'd never experienced at a hotel. The resort is beautiful. The hotel room is OK. We stayed at Hotel Santo Domingo for 4 days before and their rooms are marvelous! Anyway, there were ants in the bathroom and my friends suitcase was covered with them (Her suitcase was near the bathroom.) Don't leave anything in the bathroom... Also, they adjust the air conditioner so high that when we returned at night the sheets were moist. Do something about this after the first night. Everything else was great. We ate at all of the restaurants, they are not as great as we thought... If you don't go to a restaurant, there are open buffets which are pretty good. The resort is really beautiful. Plan out your days... There is so much to do... Free Spanish lessons, dance classes, aerobics, sauna, jacuzzi, games etc... It's great for kids too!!
Ready To Go Back!
My husband and another couple stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro All-Suite Resort. We had an awesome time and we would recommend staying at this 6 golden apple resort! The weather was perfect, the resort was very clean, the beach was beautiful, the resort staff was very friendly and the margaritas were very tasty! The night-time entertainment is a little meek, but we had a great time none-the-less.
I would definately recommend the beach-side massages and the party raft excursion. They sure know how to party!
We will definately go back!
A must visit!
My wife and I went to Iberostar Punta Cana in September of 2002 and I have to say we had a blast! First, we live in Cleveland, Ohio and it only took around four hrs to get there. Not bad concidering driving four hrs south would get us to Cincinannti. Once we landed we were greeted with big smiles and flowers. The hotel suite we had was very elligant and overlooked the water, which added to the romance instantly. You really need to keep your heads up on the first day as to where to go to eat, but we shortly had that figured out. The food was excellent! We tried almost all of it. The resturants at the hotels are exquisit and everyone is very friendly. The beaches are gorgous and the water a blue/green in color. The night life was pretty cool, they put on dances and plays for you to watch and there is a dance club which was very crowded every night we went, but it was a good time. All in all we spent a full seven days there and we wished we didnt have to leave. The only down side? It rained two or three days we were there. Blame that on mother nature. We WILL go there again. Hope to see you there!
My family and I just returned from a two week stay at the Iberostar Bavaro All Suites Resort in Punta Cana on January 9 2003. This resort is everything you could absolutly ever dream about and for someone to say that it does not meet the standered of excellence is someone who is never pleazed with anything.
My family and I have travlled to many islands in the carrabian and this island and resort are by far the best places we have ever been.
The staff are very friendly and helpfull. Although some of them do not speak fluent English you can still find a way to comunicate with them.
The grounds as well as the rooms are cleaned daily. We soon found out that a small tip left for the maid daily encorages her to to her job a bit better by tips I mean money, candy, lip stick/lip gloss ext. things that do not cost alot to us my cost alot to them and they appriciate little treats so if the maid is doing a good job then don't be stingy tip her a buck or two.
For someone to say that the food is not good or the selection is not large enough they have a big problem and as I said are never pleazed with anything. For any of the meals or snacks which may be surved through out the day the buffey is by far the best place to eat. The other restrants are very good as well.
I have a coment on one if the reviews in which I previously read. The reasons for those motor cycles and golf garts running through out the resort are to surve you better they are used to deliver luggage from the lobby to your room I am sure that if they did not have this type of transportation for luggage some people would be complaining that it did not come fast enough. They are also used to deliver bed sheetes towles ext. The carts also are used to deliver room service to your room ( which by the way comes very fast). I also have one more coment about the other review to complain about a crack or two in the side walks is just plane dum because who really cares about a crack in a side walk you should be more worried about the service and the cleanleness of the hotel grounds and rooms.
Just to proof that we enjoyed this trip as much I have said we did we will be returning to the Iberostar Bavaro Resort in Punta Cana in December 2003. For a once again much needed relaxing trip in paradise and also hope to return many times after that.
I do have to mention some small or quite large mistakes made by the hotel three weeks before our departure to Punta Cana the hotel called our travle agent and said that our trip was canceled because they had over booked 300 guests. My family and i had our harts set on going, and our dreams where crushed but I got into a fight with the manger of the travle place and said that we would brod cast what they did to us all over the news which prompted them to fight for our room. We got the room but when we arived in Punta Cana the couple which was traveling with us did not have a room so we arrgued for and hour and then we called our Air Transat rep she came to the hotel and sorted everything out for us we thank her for that and Air Transat for standing by its customers. But before you fly down I suggest that you pay a couple of dollers for that long distance call and conform everything with the hotel.
A Marquee Property
This is a marquee property in every way. My spouse and I have been to 5 "X-Star/Golden Apple/Starfish...All Inclusives" in the Caribbean and this was far and away the best property yet.
The transfer from the Airport was about 45 minutes and was very smooth with absolutley zero waiting around at the curb wondering what to do next? The transfer folks were very friendly and accommodating. When we had to wait or make a stop, they explained why and how long we would be. The front of the resort is spectacular and it only gets better inside. The desk staff was excellent, very friendly, very helpful. To my COMPLETE astonishment they even explained with surprising accuracy how much we would have to pay on checkout in tarrifs, fees...etc. That was nice to know up-front.
Throughout our stay the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, from the gardeners and maids to the serving staff to the GM. I can't say a bad thing about anyone, they all seemed to go the extra mile.
The nightly entertainment was good, it was however somewhat repetitive if you were there longer than a week. The Disco on the property was OK, the only bad thing I will say is that during our second week it was Spring Break week in the US and the place was suddenly flooded wth younk punks away from home for the first times and submerged in free booze, you can predict the outcome. The Disco staff lost control of the place in short order one night and resort security had to regain it the hard way. Otherwise it was your garden variety disco.
The buffet food was very good to excellent!! the specalty restruants were Ok to good. Make your reservations ASAP to get the food type and night you want.
The room was very spacious and very clean. The bathroom had taken a little bit of a beating but was not really in any kind of rough shape. I don't recall ever having to ask for anything, it was all usually provided when it was supposed to be.
The property grounds were very well maintained and very beautiful. The maintenance of a garden of this size necessitated a gardening army, of course, but they went about their business quietly and were very polite.
The beach is uncrowded for the most part and postcard perfect. The only complaint I do have is the availabilty of the water sports equipment. It seemed you had to hit it lucky to get a windsurf board or snorkle equipment.
The Bad: I got a scalding sunburn on day two, the kids in the Disco and I was stuck with my wife (Just kidding).
The Good: The Beach, The programs, The Food, The Room, The Staff, The Pool, The Grounds...everything else
Overall, this is a fantastic property, go here, you won't be sorry.
Ibero Bavaro. I great place.
As a travel agent I visited pretty much every resort in Punta Cana and the Iberostar Bavaro all suite resort is by far the best I've seen.
The grounds were gorgeous, the beach was outstanding and the food was excellent!!!!!
The rooms are huge compared to any other hotel in Punta Cana, They have a bed, then you step down into a living room area, it has a patio, and a good sized abathroom.
They never said that staying the Iberostar Bavaro, you get to have full exchange privledges with the other 2 Iberostars (using their restaurants, bars, etc.) So you get a heck of a lot more for your money.
When Apple vacations says a resort is a golden 6, the guests whom have stayed with that particular resort made it a golden, by filling out a survey after their stay, if the property gets good marks, then it becomes a golden.
Lack of organization
This area is beautiful, and the tours outside the resort were terrific - Don't miss the Outback Safari! The Iberostar's organization could use some help. We were waiting for our room for 2 hours in our clothes from the states, and everyday we'd see more new people come in their jeans and bags by the pool just waiting for their rooms. The food was good, and the entertainment was allright if you like drag - every night. Punta Cana is beutiful. Don't go to Iberostar unless you get a really good price.
Iberostar Bavaro, A great experience!
This was my first trip to the Dominican. The Iberostar Bavaro resort was wonderful. We stayed during the first week of November of 2002. The weather was perfect, 85 degrees on average daily. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had read anothers review of the same resort hotel, and our experience was quite the opposite. Our suite was clean, well kept and quite nice. We did have a problem with getting our safe to work and there was no clock in the room either. We had to depend on wake up calls which worked out fine. House keeping came daily and we had no problems or complaints.
The food was very good, often with all inclusive stays the food is rather mediocre at best. The selection was large and something different every night. There were several restaraunts to choose from but make sure to make your reservations early. You cannot book for the same night, which seems odd.. when you arrive at the restaraunts they seem to be empty. I assume the smaller the crowd the better the service, which was true. The service was very good and the food was great.
The pool was nice, many activities poolside. Dancing lessons, aerobics, vollyball, basketball et. They try to get people involved, but do not harrass. Ive been at many resorts where they dont seem to understand "No I dont want to play!" The beaches are kept very clean, lots of huts and chairs to choose from.
The spa was okay. It was a full service spa, manacures, pedicures and facials and massages et. The massages were very affordable and were beachside. Though when getting a massage on the beach there were sun bathers just next to you. Not much for privacy.
Our overall experience was fantastic. I'd deffinately go back again.
Not a Good Idea...
This was our second stay at Iberostar. Previously, we stayed at Ib. Tucan,
Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Apple Vacations gives it 5 golden apples. It was
perfect: great food, great service, clean rooms, perfect, very rich,
landscaping. It made us wonder why it was not a 6.
This time we selected Ib. Bavaro, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. According to
Apple Vacations it is a 6 golden apple resort. I really have no idea why - I
would not give it more than 4.
- We had a nice room with a dirty, old bathroom. "Junior" in "junior suite"
should be read as "very small". I think the bathroom was nice some time
ago, now it was falling apart.
- We had to specifically tell the maid what had to be cleaned or she would
just mop the floor, add some towels and leave.
- The quality of landscaping was below average: the walkways were falling
apart and being very unprofessionally fixed; lawn looked like it needed a
- There were small trucks, cars and scooters constantly running on the
walkways, between lobby and the pool, forcing people to walk on the grass.
- Some restaurants, which were supposed to be open, were closed and those
that were opened had an unusually small selection of food (comparing to Ib.
- Theme nights were almost eliminated to none (again comparing to Tucan)
- Pool activities were ok, but the audio equipment kept breaking down -
- Most of the people were very nice, but a few individuals tried extra hard
to make the stay unpleasant:
o Depending on who was serving, we either could or could not get
non-alcoholic beer (it was on the bar menu)
o Front desk service was the worst I have ever seen! One guy tried to get
money from us for late checkout (in addition to the fee) - all we had
to do was come back during the next shift and talk to someone else.
Another one was playing a smart ass because I could not speak
Spanish - well, he could not understand a few other languages I speak
- Food and drinks were very good.
- I loved the fact that our beach was not crowded at all - at times it felt
empty. It was very easy to find a spot by the pool, too.
The bottom line is, I do NOT recommend selecting Iberostar Bavaro for your next
vacation destination. I do recommend Iberostar Tucan.
