... crazy or what!

The next morning we signed up for a 1/2 day, 3 stop boat trip (see picture) to go snorkeling. The water is very clear and blue with may different types of fish, It was a great day!

Our last day we took a cab to the “Money Bar Beach” (I guess they call it that because the price of the drinks) and enjoyed a day of tanning and some snorkeling.

... Maple Leafs 3-0. Funny tthat we had to come all the way to Mexico to watch hockey. Karl ordered a beer and good fortune was on our side - it was 2 for 1! After the game we played a card game they translated for us as 'One'. Clever Karl figured out they were talking about Uno.

Settled in well and are off to Cuba today.

Panza feliz nos fuimos a caminar por la increible playa durante una hora y al retorno nos sambullimos en el "agua coloreada" y luego nos tumbamos en reposeras a tomar algo u charlar con los meseros que parecían animados de conversar en espanol, algo poco común aquí con la cantidad de yankees que vienen. Es para destacar lo bien que hablan inglés, gracias a cursos que les dan los hoteles. Ganan ...

... para el iPod que suena increible, batas, todo lo qué se imaginen de aseo, una cama de más de dos metros de ancho, escritorio, living y un balcón con vista parcial del mar (primer piso) con una piletita. Heladerita llena todo el tiempo con aguas, gaseosas y cervezas, café y si algo falta hay room service ilimitado 24 hs pudiendo pedir de todo, comidas, tragos (riquísimos qué ya el primer día harían "estragos"). ... viewing the ruins, took a wrong turn and ended up in a hotel area (or incredibly well preserved ruins!) and then trying to find our way back as the buses started to arrive we stumbled across a hole other area with and ancient observatory and convent. At this point we hastily found the exit, and after a well needed Coffee found our bus to Vallodolid, a small town an hour down the road. Trekking to our chosen hostel we find it shut for restoration, so try a near by local hotel ...

... then find our way over to one of the islands. Which one yet we have yet to determine, we'll figure that out when we get there. We'll probably spend about 3 days or so there, before heading on to Guatemala... take a bus from Belize City (dodgy town from what I've been told) to Flores, Guatemala. From there we will take another bus to Antigua, where we hope to do a few weeks of Spanish classes. We'll see how long we can do classes for before they break for ...

... station just outside the tourist ghetto! I arrived around 3:30pm, it was very hot and overcast, but there weren't too many site see-ers. Everyone was at Chichen Itza for the Spring Equinox! I took my time walking amongst the ruins, my favourite being not the huge El Castillo, but rather a small lopsided little temple which just made no sense to me!

... haber ido a un lugar llamado Perico's, y la imagen de mis padres totalmente borrachos, no tiene precio. Tambien recuerdo que nuestro hotel tenia en la piscina reposeras construidas con material (cemento) en la parte baja del agua. Una gran idea!
Cancun fue un gran viaje, pude conocerlo en esa epoca de esplendor turistico, y algun dia volvere a ver como ha evolucionado. Han pasado 15 años ya desde este viaje...
