Beach!!
... spoke perfect English and was very friendly. We were shown some amazing red opals by a guys and the lady who owned the cafe, pretty reasonably priced it seems, though we had no money so couldn't buy anything anyway. We then headed to the beach for a quick swim (or paddle in my case,) then wandered back to the hotel to go out for dinner. It's been really nice to spend some time looking around and seeing a place rather than just finding a bed to sleep ...
Whales in the morning

There were five or six other bikes on the ferry. All heading south to various places. We spoke to one guy from Switzerland who was riding a California-registered Triumph Tiger to Guatemala. He has the same bike I have in Switzerland and had been to Australia and New Zeeland on it. The other guys were from the U.S. and also heading south.
