... Rocca or the rock. In fact it served as a prison for a couple hundred years until 1975. We walked the spine of the mount towards the North where an aerial tram takes visitors up the mountain. We visited the church as well as several plazas and government buildings along the way.
We enjoyed a lunch in the old town and Kathy got side tracked by a pair of boots in one of the shop windows, we didn't leave empty handed! After about three hours we left San Marino ...
... except to say that we finished the day feeling very relaxed’. We topped off our relaxing day doing something by an evening beach walk. It was lovely to leave the apartment and do something that is at least worth remembering otherwise our day would have been a full day of something that really means ...
... and didn’t have much in them. It was very frustrating because even though we knew the name of the one we wanted it still wouldn’t come up on Petty’s list. We eventually fluked another really large one but by this time I had gone beyond frustrated (I was 'franky'!!) and couldn’t even think properly to choose what we needed. Thank goodness my level headed, calm husband was with me. Meat and veg for dinner, craving ...
... This cathedral is up there with York Minister. A good experience and very well maintained.
I mooched around the shops a little. It is odd because there are the high end Prada, Louis Vitton, Gucci etc shops which are just unafforable for normal people and then there were the Glasson equivalents. There didn't seem to be anything in between.
