... eagerly feeding, totally oblivious to the people on the beach.

After wandering around for a long time we stopped at a little cafe on the Cozumel ferry street and had a delicious cup of tea and coffee, a medialuna/croissant and some warm french bread with strawberry jam.

It was wonderful to return to the condo here in Puerto Morelos and we thankfully cooled off in the pool. The other guests here are very nice. This complex only has 19 ...

... etc. the special thing about this beach was that you could go and snorkel just off the shore. Compared to our snorkelling a couple of days ago we weren't expecting much but we still saw 2 turtles and a sting ray and it was only about 100m out to sea so that was pretty cool. We were headed for Akumal with Aude today, a short drive south from Playa, to dive and snorkel with turtles. Apparently the name of the place is derived from the Mayan words - Aku 'turtle' and Mal ' the place of'. The foreshore is a feeding ground for the turtles and the nearby reef is used as a resting station after feeding - we were guaranteed to see a turtle.

Victor took us to the Tulum ruins, which are built right next to the beach. We went and swam in the 'grand' senote where we got to see baby turtles. Becky rescued a turtle who was stuck in root. We then went for lunch at a restaurant over looking a beautiful white beach. We left Mexico very early the next morning to start our ...
