... by the foreign invaders. During it time in history, the city had up to 1,600 residents. It is believed that it's original name was Zama, which in Mayan means the City of Dawn. The names refers to the fact that sitting on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea on its eastern side, it has an unobstructed view of the morning sunrise. In downtown tourist central

I woke up on the early side this morning, to blissful quiet. Playa del Carmen is so far east in this time zone that the sun rises and sets much earlier than elsewhere in Mexico. I set out for some breakfast, enjoying the peace and quiet of a party town that hadn't woken up yet from the night before. We got our snorkel gear and life jackets and headed in by couples. Our guide, Carlos was explaining how the rocks were made and that the stalactites grew 1 inch every 70 years. He ...

We come back to the resort at 2am, alive and well, with aching feet but a grin on our faces :) We were in good hands with Jesus.

PS. We did not realize time went forward on Saturday night in Mexico, so we only have one hour difference with Toronto ...

... time, she was a lot of fun, and showed us some of her underwater skills! David and Amanda, the two other divers, were awesome to meet, and I really wish I had thee chance to dive with them again or even hang out in playa, but such is life. This morning I took the ferry to Cozumel island, with a fantastic live band on the ferry. The 40 min ride went by like it was nothing. The hostel I was supposed to stay at, with a private beach, outside of downtown, was no ...
