This morning we drove down to Playa del Carmen (PDC) for the day. We blundered into a primo parking spot which was really handy. We had not been there for about 15 or so years. It is so much bigger! It used to be a tiny place with a little shopping but now, it is a big place with mucho shopping opportunities. We were very well behaved and did not buy anything there. We did see some migrating Ruddy Turnstones on the beach. There were about a dozen ...

... I've ever seen. White fine sand and the bluest of blue seas you can find. We had about an hour here and we all headed straight to the sea as it was a particularly hot day. After we had cooled off, we got back to the bus and headed to our next stop. The next place we went to was yet another beach and again it was quite busy but so worth it. We had lunch that we had bought in a supermarket on the way so it was make your own wraps with ...

... back to Playa Del Carmen, I slept almost the whole bus trip! I went out for dinner at the La Cueva del Chango in Del Carmen which is a nice Mexican restaurant, it was absolutely scrumptious, fantastic Mexican flavours throughout every dish, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get a taste of native Mexican flavours, way better then any Mexican I've ever had! We then went back to our hotel room to get some sleep

... an animal like a racoon), was waltzing past and the dog didn't like it. Luckily for the, either stupid or brave, dog it didn't actually catch up with the coati because they have claws that can rip open logs.

We spent the rest of the afternoon reading by the pool, trying to work out what we will do next week. We tried a fish restaurant by the beach for dinner. The location was fantastic but perhaps we arrived too close to closing because the food was bit ...

Didn't stop raining for three days!!

A travel blog entry by davethyom on Oct 24, 2013

We didn't have the best start to our time in Mexico. Firstly because we arrived a day late and when we arrived at the hotel they had given our room away and we had to find a new hotel (even though we emailed them!). It also rained for three days. So overall our impressions on Mexico wasn't great.

We met our group for the first part of the tour. Our tour guide is Victor who is from Guatemala. The names of the people in our group are Tomaz, Neya and Tjasa, the three ...
