    ... coke, vodka and cranberry juice, tequila and cranberry juice. It was a fun night, but quite messy for most people there.

    I took two small trips out of Playa. I went to see the ruins in Tulum, an old Mayan port city. I have to say, apart from the beautiful beach, the ruins were a bit over rated, they were nice, but architecturally I guess I have been spoiled with so many awesome sites. The other nearby town I went to was Akumal, now this was an amazing find. ...

    ... snack bar and whilst we were there saw loads if the local badgers running around they were so cute one baby even came in the restaurant!! It's a shame they are so unafraid of humans as they will probably end up taking food and then being chased away. In the evening we had booked into the Mexican restaurant a fantastic 3 course meal and all free!! I could live here forever ...

    ... is cheap. There are some nasty hurricanes in the area, close enough to literally rain on our parade every day so far but not close enough to cause us any major problems unlike elsewhere in the country. We have a few more days here before we make another leap south.... maybe by then the smoke would've cleared from the brain strain during Spanish lessons and we can mash a sentence together.... maybe the first thing I will order in Spanish is a Corona, they're pretty cheap ...

    Righto, Beyers has just joined me at the beach but has run off to play beach volley ball so excuse me as I am going to join him…. Phew I’m back, well volley ball turned into beach football! Then I had to get in the pool to cool down, it’s 6pm now! We have dinner reservations at the Italian tonight for 8pm, I missed lunch so now I’m snacking on Ritz crackers we were given from Diane the lady ...

    ... br> On our next day in Playa, a guy from the hostel took us and 2 others in his car to Akumal, a beach/resort town, to do some snorkelling.

    We swam out a long way from the beach, and saw sea turtles and lots of fish. On our way back, we tried some local food at a restaurant with a live band.

    Continued to have beach days and party nights in Playa for the next 2 ...
