Sven got to see dolphins twice in this trip. The first time was at a children's "pet the dolphin"Dolphin Quest activity that they have at the Hilton in Waikoloa. The hotel is one of the most ridiculous things we've seen (more on that later), but the kids got to pet and feed the dolphins, as well as get a lesson about sea mammals. We slept and woke up. What a surprise?  It was a bit tough but I convinced myself that sleeping was better than getting up early. It was a good choice. It has now been a long day of travel. Hurry up and wait has been the phrase for the day. We spent far too long in LAX. But the flights were smooth and no complications. When we finally got to the hotel first impressions are outstanding. Very friendly front desk staff. The monorail is a lot slow. We may have to reserve judgement on that aspect. Our room is suite or I should say our room is a suite. I am not sure what a regular room is like but the comfort makes up for the time to get here. And...

Well, there are good vacation days, there are great vacation days and then there are days when 20 NFL cheerleaders park themselves next to you on the beach for the day. Yesterday was one of the latter !! The Oakland Raiderettes are here shooting their 2010 calendar and they spent the day on the beach right next to our spot..... they posed for a couple of pictures for Diane and all had very nice personalities :-)))) Honestly, it is hard to force ourselves to leave this resort to do any touring...

Our first day on the Big Island, and no travel to worry about...through the air, that is. We planned to travel by car to the highest point in Hawaii, the summit of Mauna Kea volcano. Coming in at just under 14,00 feet, it would be the highest that any of us have ever ascended into the sky with our feet on the ground. Flew with my mom to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii for 3 days. The flight from Chicago was 9 hours and we sat in middle row aisle seats in the last two rows of the plane, but hey, we were on the plane! Time passed smoothly and I barely missed winning the "Guess the midpoint" contest. I guessed 10:47 Hawaii time and the actual time was 10:48 and some seconds. Dnes je nedela a dost lenivy den. Okolo 10:30 sme sa dostali z izby a isli sme nakupit ranajky obed a veceru do miesteneho nakupneho centra isli sme peso, tak sme sa najprv poprechadzali po plazi, okolo hotela a asi za hodinku sme uz aj boli v obchode. Spat na izbu, trochu pocitali knizku, polenosili a po obede si Stanka schrupla a ja som sa isiel trochu prejst.

Dnes rano som vstal uz o 3:00 a ponevieral som sa po izbe a trochu polihaval az do siestej. O 7:30 som mal bezat Fun Run. Niekto spravne podotkol, ze spojit dokopy v jednom nazve zabavu a beh je naozaj divne a presvedcil som sa, ze mal pravdu. Ako sa neskor ukazalo.
