The BESTvacation I've EVER had

from A TripAdvisor Member
I went to Jamaica on July 10, 2003 with my best friends Wanda and Raisa. We had the best time in the world. The staff was so friendly. I really felt like I was a queen. Everything there was so beautiful. The food was great. The night life was loud and exciting. The rooms were great. The swim-up bar was the best part of the trip. Chris the bartender was the best. He always had our drinks ready by the time we got to the bar. I couldn't ask for more. The nude area was wild. If you like to see ALL of that. I didn't want to leave. I also met the most wonderful man at the resort. We'll be celebrating our first year together. I will be going back to Hedonism on August and that will be my fourth trip to Jamaica in one year. I don't regret ever going to Hedonism III and neither will you. I promise!

It's all about the people!

My wife and I had our first Hedonism III experience as part of a SuperSurprise package back in 2000. Though nervous at first, we returned home having had such a great time that we vowed to return again, which we did in January of '03. I've learned that vacations are what you make of them. On our first trip, we had no idea what to expect. But on our second trip, we realized that what we remembered most were the people that we met. Hedo III is a fantastic place to meet people -- there is always something exciting or interesting happening and the numerous displays of risque behavior are great discussion fodder when meeting new people. Everyone is there to have a good time and I can honestly say I've never seen anyone pressured into doing anything they didn't want to do. We met quite a few people who simply didn't partake in the nudism but didn't complain about it either and seemed to have a great time. It seems that every day we met new people. It was always easy to strike up a conversation at the bar, on the beach, in the pool . . . The place is just big enough so that it feels not too confining, but also small enough to start seeing familiar faces every day. "The Lifestyle" is present at Hedo III and on some occasions is very prominent. We are not swingers ourselves, and neither I nor my wife ever felt intimidated, pressured or harrassed by anyone. It was my impression that nobody wanted to say or do anything to make anyone else uncomfortable. (The exception to this may be the late-night hot tub, from the stories I hear, although the one night I visited was very tame). My main point (if I even have one) is that Hedo III is a great place if you can relax and enjoy the moment. Certainly there were times when the food was not great, the bartender was a bit slow or the music was not to our liking. But we always found a way to have fun -- there are plenty of food options and we always found something good, we learned to order 2 drinks apiece from the slow bartenders and we chose there's a waterslide!). Go, relax, enjoy!

Great time!

My husband and I recently went to Hedonism III in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. We weren't sure what we were getting ourselves into, but it turned out to be a great time! The resort is very nice, every room has a whirlpool tub. The quad pool area is very nice and has a swim up bar and lay-out deck. The food and drinks were good and we had good service. The property is very clean. If you don't mind seeing naked people, this is a great resort!

Wet and Wild

Upon arriving at the gate of Hedonism III you know you are in for a vacacation of a lifetime. The workers are wonderful fun friendly, making you feel like comfortable. This being our first time at a resort of this kind we started off at the clothing area and then gained courage to move to the semi clothing area and then spend time at the nude area. We went out on a nudie boat ride that was fanastic right from the beach. For someone who was a bit leary I had the best vacation. My love to Teddybear and Stormin Norman of the boat two people you don't want to miss on your visit to Hedo III.

The country is beautiful and the people friendly. Hedo III is located about hour and a half from the Sangster Inter. airport and is quite remote. In order to go anywhere outside of the compound you must either hire a taxi....$65 us dollars roud trip to Ocho Rios or use a shuttle from Hedo which makes stops at 3 shopping villages for about an hour each...$15.00 There is no ATM in the resort, in order to get to one it's a $20 cab ride. Even though it's an all inclusive resort you do find yourself requiring cash for certain things......excursions outside of the complex, certain gift items etc... My friend and I (both single guys) traveled there with hopes of meeting a couple of single girls....which we did. Hi Amy & Molly! But I have to say that we beat the odd's. It is predominatly couples...swingers and single guys. Would I go again? No. Not that I had a bad time, I had a good time. Thanks to the lovely girls we met. However, If you are a single guy under the delusion that you're going to go there and find a match to hang out with for the week, there's a good possibility you will be disapointed. If I ever return to Jamaica I would definatly return with a partner. As for the service and facilities, they are both good. AnnMarie at the main bar is the best! The disco is small but hops late at night and the food is pretty good anywhere you choose to eat. Late night hot tubs are not for the shy! It gets pretty down and dirty. Which if you're not with a partner, you will feel a little imposing. And if you're with a partner, should be prepared to be invited in the mix.....if you're ok with sharing your girl. I don't think I would be. But thats me. Amy and Molly lets make sure we ALL get in touch! Hope to hear from You soon!

What a land of nasty people

Hedonism III is not a place for anyone to go to relax or have fun. It is a contrived flat of concrete on a disappointing shipped in yard of sand they call a beach. Drug salesmen harrass you as you attempt to sunbathe. Worst of all is the BOOM BOOM BOOM of the bass all night and morning and night and morning of the SAME music at the same time. It makes you think they are mindless or you are mad. Never a moment of silence.

Life is What You Make It

Prior to my own Hedo 3 visit I read many many trip reviews and I must say in their own way they were all very helpful and accurate.

My girlfriend and I went to Hedo 3 as part of a large group of about 100 people so we already knew wild times were expected.

Our flight and customs went fairly easy. We were a part of a very large group so I am sure it generally goes much faster than it did for us. This being out first trip to Jamaica we had never expirenced driving on the left side or the fact they have no road signs, road lines, speed limits or rules period. It's basically get there, alive if you can or in as many pieces as possible. But again having read trip reports before going we expected it and after we made our beer stop it actually became fun to watch our life flash before our eyes (kidding).

It stormed on our way to the resort but as soon as we pulled onto the resort grounds the sun finally peeped out. This would be the same each day we were there but as hot as it was when the sun did come out you appreciated the rain/cloudy breaks and it didn't hinder us from doing anything.

Hedo's staff is helpful and friendly. I know tipping is not allowed but sneak them a few bucks here and there..they work HARD!!!! Plus tipping the bartenders makes sure you get a good drink. Not some of the watered down sugared down versions some other people get. Over all the food was fair. I mean it was decent. Scotch Bonet has EXECELLENT jerk chicken and Munahana is superb all the way around. And this is from someone who has never eaten sushi before (could have been the margaritas but who knows). Make reservations you won't regret it!

Okay the theme night, wild times etc...

We arrived on Thurs. which was toga night. I expected not be able to tie the damn thing or have all of my privates exposed on the dancefloor. But funny you will find away to get it on secure and I think I did a pretty good job. As for the Masqurade and PJ party nights you will see almost any and everything at Hedo. Don't be shocked. Just go with it. And if it's not your thing move on. No problem mon. It's what you make of it. Personally I don't have any freaky tales from my trip. But it's not for lack of being propositioned. And definately not that it wasn't going on. Oh trust me any mornings and nights I was awakened by what sounded like a wounded animal only to be somebody gettin' busy in the Quad hot tub...And yes folks...it will echo...hello. We were just TOO BUSY doing other fun stuff. Boat rides, drinking, beach, drinking, pool, pool tables, drinking, snorkling, jacuzzi, cards, basketball, shopping trips, did I mention drinking? Couldn't help it. It was so readily available. And I am not a heavy drinker at home. It's just that atmosphere that makes you do the extra ordinary.

I had a WONDERFUL time and I know everyone in our group did too. When I got home and people asked me how it was all I could say was excellent. Words can't describe it (but our video will). I feel like I left a lil piece of my heart at Hedo. And was actually in Hedo Withdrawl for a few days when I got back. I am already counting days until next year for that "unfinshed business" and bringing back some freaky tales this time. I can't see me going to any other resort while in Jamaica. Worth it 110%!!

Hedo III

I stayed in Hedo III sometime last year, taking the "Super Surprise" package. Overall, we were very pleased with the resort. Service was excellent, resort was clean, and food was good. One drawback of the resort however was the beach. The "prude" beach was a little on the disappointing side, and we were expecting a lot better. It reminded us a little of the Jersey Shore. Despite its reputation, we didn't find Hedo III to be too shocking or wild (perhaps it was the time we went , mid-march). Another drawback was the disco , where they played disco music 24/7!!!

Hedo III is somewhere near Ocho Rios, and there is really nowhere to go outside of the resort. If I had to go to Jamaica again, I would definitely stickwith SuperClubs, but pick one of the resorts in Negril, where apparently all the action is. Although we had a great time...I probably wouldn't recommend going here

Don't be Fooled again...

At Hedo III, a lot depends on your expectations. The resort maintenance of the grounds was terrific. A very nicely kept up place. Bar and restaurant service varied widely from very friendly and courteous, to being ignored without even the poor excuse of being busy sometimes. The tennis pro was excellent though. Obviously the big lure is the nude beach and pool and that certainly does provide some erotic viewing. However it seems that must justify a comparatively expensive vacation versus other Caribbean destinations that we looked at. Also the front desk told me to check for a volume switch when our phone didn't work, and to look in a cabinet for extra toilet paper when we ran out. My vision is excellent. There were no phone adjustments or cabinets with extra paper. He lied rather than attend to the problem. The AC didn't work and we didn;t get a new room for 3 days. The food at their 4 restaurants was edible, but they certainly have no real cooks who know how to add seasoning and make a really nice meal. The exception was the Japanese restaurant. Normally I don't favor asian food, but this was good. And everyone on the resort knew it - which is why it is very hard to get a reservation there and they only serve so many couples per night (even though they have empty tables - lack of cooks I guess). I had breakfast at the buffet several mornings and again the food was OK, but many items including the potatos were cold. On our last day we went for breakfast just as they opened and the food was still cold! How does that happen? Takes some work. Then the drinks that come with this all inclusive need to be commented on. I didn't see it, but I believe they must have had two bottles of most liquors. IF you order a shot, you get the real deal, if you order a mixed drink you get the watered down version. The attraction here is definitely the erotic notion. They do play some silly sex games throughout the day and every personality is different as to whether you might like that. Some were fun, some were over

ave to, but beware if you are a sensitive type, people will drop their clothes even in the prude area. And we met many friendly people, but some will try to twist your arm in a friendly fashion. You have to be prepared (especially if you have an attractive partner) for this type of thing, especially when hanging out in the nude area. Also the beach is not a pristine long sandy beach that you see on tv shows of the caribbean. They obviously made the beach in a rocky area. It is small with sand shipped in. It works, but not the secluded beach area you may be dreaming about. All in all we had fun, met some nice people, some adventures, but it still left much to be desired in service and cooking. And the DJ doesn't cater to his crowd very well in my opinion (at the disco) - insisting on playing music for himself and 18 year olds, when the crowd ran from upper 20s to 40s. And all this for a cost that should have been much lower based on what you get. They do very well with an all inclusive when the food suffers and the free drinks may be watered down!

Hedonism III- the truth

from A TripAdvisor Member
My boyfriend and I vacationed to Jamaica last February (2001). We went through superclubs and did the super surprise. To our suprise we ended up at Hedonism III!!!

This is the newer of the Hedonisms.

Where to start?.....The rooms were wonderfult, whirlpool bath, clean, and even a mirror above the bed!

The service was great....staff was wonderful. The food was excellent, although there are really only 2 restaurants...reserve early!. The buffet was always good, and the grill was ok...but not much of a selection.

There was always something going on....be it body shots, beer drinking contests, toga tying workshops.....the entertainment was endless. This resort is fun, spunky and wild. If you are looking for a private intimate resort....this is not your resort.
