Historical Traveler Reviews Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort & Spa Punta Cana

      Restful,beautiful resort

      from

My husband & I spent last week at Fiesta Bavaro-It is a beautiful resort, very large, lots of walking-Front desk staff is not too nice. The food service folks have been trained very well and serve you with perfection! The pool and beach are great. It is a little difficult understanding the a la carte restaurant rules- mainly being few people speak english. For the price we paid, we did receive good value and would return - after I brush up on my spanish!

      Overall a wonderful stay!

      from

My girlfriend and I went to Fiesta Bavaro from February 17-21, 2003. We overall were extremely impressed with the resort. Generally, it was very clean, well kept, with beautiful grounds. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The beach was long, white, and beautiful, with great palm trees. The pools were clean and the perfect temperature. The food was probably the only darkish spot - not that it was terrible, but it generally wasn't all that great, either. There WAS a great deal of variety, so we could always find something to eat, at least.Overall, we had a great trip, and would be delighted to go back again.

      What a way to relax

      from

This was a very pleasant surprise. My wife and 16 year old son and 11 year old daughter all had a blast. we usually do club med vacations but this was 1/2 the price so we tried it. the facility is beautiful. the beach is amazing. the rooms were large and well appointed with good A/C. the grounds were magnificant and well maintained. the staff was attentive and very friendly. the pools were nice and the food was typical of all inclusives decent quality and plenty of it. after 7 days you are ready for some different food. the weather was 85 and sunny. plenty of activities. the basketball courts were in disrepair and should be upgraded. the staff appreciates when you try and speak spanish. mostly europeans and maybe 30% american. I highly recommend this hotel for families.

      Best vacation ever

      from

We booked our trip through apple vacations and stayed at Feista Bavaro it was great, more than we could have expected, except for the delays at the airports, about 2 hrs each way. The apple people were at the hotel everyday to help with any questions you might have, everybody at the hotel was freindly and very helpfull. If you have never been there take the Saffari trip into the mountains, we had a blast. All inclusive is the way to go. Chuck & Denise

      Had a Great Time, 2/7-2/14

      from

Hola: I just spent the week at the Fiesta Bavaro Beach resort with my fiance and we had a great time. I thought the beach and water were beautiful, very clean, well kept. The service at the beach bar was great, I wish they had some other beer other than Presidente, but I still enjoyed plenty of them. The rooms are adequate for a vacation bungalow. My only complaint is that the water pressure is not great, but it did the job. The cleaning service was great, she refilled my minibar everyday except one. They are only supposed to refill it every other day but with a few American dollars, I did six out of seven-->not bad. As far as the food, It was very good, well presented, and the variety was great. As on all vacations I have been on, I was tired of the cuisine at the end of the week, but you would find that anywhere in an all-inclusive scenario. The nightly entertainment was amusing, different every night, and brief(I like that). The disco served as a nice way to end the night. The music was good but I have had enough merengue for a lifetime. We went on two excursions, the outback safari and the aquatic tour with the speed boats. Both were great, we had a great time and they were both worth every penny. Don't spend all of your time at the resort, we had a great time out of the resort. Overall, we had a great time, I am not sure if we would go back. The resort was great but in the Dominican, there is little to do if you want to do anything except lay on the beach. we took our trip to lay on the beach and get away from the winter weather, in that respect, it was perfect. I am still enjoying my tan. By the way, if you are a Europhobe, you should not come here, it is mostly european, you will not hear English much here. Adios

      Great holiday

      from

My wife took me away as a surprise for my birthday. Therefore I didn't know where we were going until I got to the airport. Neither of us had ever done an all inclusive resort before ,and we were somewhat leery as we tend to like to explore when we go away. The Fiesta Bavaro was far better than I expected. We were there from Jan.9-24 and had a great time. The food was excellent, we enjoyed El Arrecife restaurant the best. Great drinks are always available. I suggest a coco loco vitamina. The rooms were clean and nice. Very friendly staff. The entertainment staff were over and above the call of duty, they were great. It was very nice to get away from Americanized areas. There's no Planet Hollywood here. We did a tour ,and took a local bus to the major town of Higuey. You could probably miss Higuey, but the Bavaro Runners tour is great. Down side would be that being mostly europeans on holiday smoking is alive and well. Overall a great place and I would definitely reccomend Fiesta Bavaro to any one.

Horrible. It was a trip to h*ll

      from

It was terrible. At the recception they where very very very unfriendly.

So i will begin my story. When I arrived at the hotel they told me that my room is not reserved, but iīve had the hotel vaucher. They told me if i wanna sleep the first night there i have to pay 220 dollar. They wanna look for the problem the next day because it was 8:00 pm. So i havenīt had so much money and the people from the reccetion told me i have to leave the hotel with my suitcase and i should come back the next day. Whwn i came back the next morning they told me i should come back the next day...

They didnīt helped me in the hotel.

My parents and friends send faxes and tryed to call to me in the fiesta. But the people from the recception didnīt told me from the call or the faxes. And they told my friends that there is nobody with problems in the hotel. But all from the recception knew me.

Some other people i met at the airport told me too, that the people from the recception are very unfriendly.

When I was out of the hotel i met many people who helped me with my problem and the end was that i got a room in the H-10 Bavaro. There is the best animation I ever saw.

So it was a good end. But i will never forget the first 3 days. It was horrible.

      Awesome Beach!!!

      from

My wife and I travelled to Punta Cana from Dec. 26/02 - Jan. 9/03 along with three other family members. We all booked into with the Fiesta Roulette, which means that you do not know which of the three resorts(Palace, Bavaro or Beach) you will stay at until you arrive.

This was our sixth all-inclusive resort and we have travelled to ten different islands/destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico. We love to travel and are very fussy when it comes to cleanliness, beach, ocean, pool, service and food. I guess we are this way due to the fact from a few bad experiences!

When we arrived we found out at the airport that we would be staying at the Fiesta Beach.

This review will be broken down into six categories:

      1. Service, excellent overall with the exception of the Main Restaurant. This was absolutey the worst service that we have received at any resort. No place settings, no glasses, dirty table cloths, and by the fourth day we were so frustrated that we started getting our own drinks and cutlery. Not acceptable by any standards! Other than this the service was excellent!

      2. Rooms, excellent! King size bed, large, great A/C, sat TV, safe, very clean. Better than expected. No bugs, no water problems, lot's of towels and a great mini fridge.

      3. Entertainment, over New Years it was great, but during the next week nothing great. We have been to so many that it takes much effort on the entertainers to keep our interest. Simply Okay!

      4. Food, we never got sick and for two full weeks we never really got tired of the food. It was also the right temp and was covered. Very clean! Great variety with an excellent Bar-B-Q lunch that included a minimum of four different meats every day! It is too bad that the service was terrible, because the atmosphere was great and it was a nice place to spend time together if we could only get a fork or a glass of water!!! There were two buffet restaurants that we were able to use and one Pizza A-La-Carte. There was some misinformation due to the fact that when you stay at the Beach you are not able to use the other seven restaurants. Where as if you stay at the Palace of Bavaro you can. You are able to purchase meals at these place for about $40.00 U.S. per meal.

      5. Pool/Gardens, well we toured every resort on both sides of Fiesta and without question the Beach as the best pool and gardens of any resort in Punta Cana. Absolutey Stunning!

      6. Beach/Ocean, the best for last! We are true beach bums and in front of the beach is the best stretch of beach that we could find after walking 2.5 hours in opposite directions. Large palm trees, the sand is cleaned twice a day, quiet, shade, sun, absolutey amazing. This is the most underated part of any resort that we have been to in the world.

Conclusion, we did a last minute sell-off and paid $1,600.00 Canadian each for two weeks all-inclusive. Wow! We will definately be back, but we would not pay the extra $600.00 each to stay at the Bavaro or the Palace.

A few other comments, smokers like crazy, lot's of non english speaking, great drinks, many activities, too many children for our taste but a great place for couples and families. Don't miss out on this resort!

Going Back for the 4th year!

      from

We leave for our 4th trip to Punta Cana and our 2nd stay at Fiesta Bravaro. We must like it or we would not be going back. The first 2 years we stayed at the Punta Cana Beach Resort and it was also very nice but the fact that you have 3 resorts in one when staying at the Fiesta Bravaro is real nice. All the staff members seem very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing and very very beautiful. Can't wait to leave next Friday!!

      AWESOME - Fiesta Bavaro

      from

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Fiesta Bavaro for a week in August. It was GREAT! The resort is huge, 3 resorts actually, and you can use the facilities and restaurants at all 3 - so there's about 10 restaurants to choose from. I liked it because there weren't many complaining Americans. Mosty European. I am American, but hate whiney Americans who expect everything to be in English. If you can't speak some Spanish...you have NO business going to the DR. Otherwise, enjoy the best beaches in the world, surprisingly GREAT food, lots of cocktails and Presidente beer, great excursions to choose from, etc. We are going back this year, and plan to partake in more excursions. This resort is great. A bit too many children for my liking, but otherwise lots of fun. Met lots of new friends from Europe, great drinking buddies.

Feel free to ask questions. One note though...it's HOT HOT HOT during the summer. I didn't wear a shirt the whole week, with the exception of dinner...and even then I hated it. Wear VERY light clothes.

... bullfrogs are busy chattering all around you adding to the atmosphere. I would not have thought that the atmosphere could be topped, but the food and service did just that. Several waiters are constantly busy doting on you to make sure that you have everything you require. They are there just when you need them, but are unobtrusive at the same time. The meal certainly rivaled any dining experience I've ever paid for and bested most. I ...

... they drive their customers away by being so pushy. The thing that I dislike about it the most is that it is very apparent that they are poor and you can almost smell the desperation on them. It seems that they are trying to guilt you into making a purchase. It is definitely something that I don't do well ...

Today was spent on the resort, not the beach, just in and around the resort grounds. We took the time to walk the grounds some more and see the wildlife up a little closer. There are quite a variety of birds living on the grounds. The ones we recognize are peacocks, pigeons, geese, flamingos and cranes. There are several species that we do not recognize as well. In the ponds there are turtles, a variety of fish and very large toads or ...

I still can't believe that I managed to convince Dave to come to Punta Cana. It's not his type of place, to say the least. Between the beaches, buffets and sunburns, it was quite a culture shock for my boyfriend. He thought that we'd only see poverty, and while there certainly were some sad moments, he seemed shocked that this beautiful country's citizens were happy.

Like any tropical location, it looked like a paradise. Our beach had a section blocked off for the ...

Patrick spent much of the night in the bathroom. Time for stronger measures. After packing, having coffee in the room ( me, not Patrick) calling the bell boy, putting the bags in security, grabbing some bananas, bread and water we headed for the Drs. The doctor was great. She gave Patrick some intravenous medicine to help with the aches, pains and temperature, some fluids, anti-diarrhea medication, some powder we can put in water to put more electrolytes in his ...
