Really good all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen

We're not usually all-inclusive resort people but it was our honeymoon so we wanted to stay somewhere nice and it seems all-inclusive is actually cheaper than not in many cases. We chose the Gran Porto Real because it was the right price and in a great location for our future travels to Cuba and the rest of Central America and South America. All in all, the resort was what we wanted. We could have easily drank ourselves into total renal failure if we wanted and the food was abundant and of a decent standard. There's so many staff and they are all really helpful, the room was really good, the pools are the perfect places to while away a honeymoon and overall we had no complaints. We paid an extra $100 or so to upgrade our 'ocean view' room to a room that actually had a proper ocean view, rather than a view of the road and a bit of ocean out of the corner of your eye - it as well worth it, as the view of the pool and the Caribbean made our stay there that much better.

      The Intro

So, we made it to Playa del Carmen after a brutally long plane journey, which was made infinitely better by the awesome movie selection, including the Godfather parts I & II, which took care of six hours!

      Feeling hot, hot hot

Today was hazy and overcast and actually not all that hot by Yucatan standards, but by Sari standards it was scorching. I took a long walk along the Playa del Carmen beach, dodging touts and salespeople ...

... loss we left and explored down a wing we had not walked yet. We found the gym and the spa and a cute Zen type garden with hammocks and smaller palm trees around it. it was quite pretty. We wandered and lounged longer until it was time to go for dinner.

We took the elevator down to the lobby and walked through Café del Mar and around into Momonohana restaurant. It was so pretty inside. The tables and some walks were lit up orange and they ...

... us every day. They have had a plethora of towel animals and people daily - why have they not bothered with us? Is it because we are so tidy? As a child my mother always asked us to clean the house before the cleaner arrived which, even as a six year old, I thought it devoid of point and would irritate the cleaner as she would have nothing to do - perhaps that was the reason we have just been left with the sad elephant? ...
