We're not usually all-inclusive resort people but it was our honeymoon so we wanted to stay somewhere nice and it seems all-inclusive is actually cheaper than not in many cases. We chose the Gran Porto Real because it was the right price and in a great location for our future travels to Cuba and the rest of Central America and South America. All in all, the resort was what we wanted. We could have easily drank ourselves into total renal failure if we wanted and the food was abundant and of a decent standard. There's so many staff and they are all really helpful, the room was really good, the pools are the perfect places to while away a honeymoon and overall we had no complaints. We paid an extra $100 or so to upgrade our 'ocean view' room to a room that actually had a proper ocean view, rather than a view of the road and a bit of ocean out of the corner of your eye - it as well worth it, as the view of the pool and the Caribbean made our stay there that much better.

We headed straight for the river rapids and on our way to the entrance we spotted a bunch of Mexicans hanging out at the top of a 40 foot pole and spinning around... crazy stuff. the river rapids were fortunately not too crowded for the gentle (if a little cold!) coast through to the opposite end of the park. After scuba diving it was an odd experience to use shorter fins and I think I would have preferred to run on my ...
... Sorry, kiddo.
And we were so put off by the smarmy auctioneer that we left before it was over and we didn’t even get our free artwork. (That was my second choice for her birthday present.)
Then it was off to the Stardust theater where we watched people playing “Deal or No Deal” while we waited for the movie to start. We saw “The Imitation Game” and it was really good. I can see why it was up ...
We wake for Christmas after a shocker sleep. The hostel guests get home quite early in the morning and are making a racquet of noise slamming doors and yelling. But after falling back asleep eventually, we sleep right past the time we were intending getting the ferry to Cozumel. We wake Purto and go out to discuss with the boss about leaving a day early as we are off to Belize tonight. He has n issues despite not even knowing we were there tonight and had ...
... in a Banana's Foster and the answer was.. YES WE WERE!
Bryce and I have never actually tried that dessert before and we didn't really know what we had in store for us but it sounded good. So away he went cooking our dessert right in front of us. Cream, butter, sugar... all the best kinds of ingredients for a dessert. He added banana's and set it aflame. We chatted some more with our new English friends while ...
