Day 19 - Travelling to Cancun
Carly's official birthday (US time) was not ideal for her as we were out of our hotel by 7am, and on our way to sunny Mexico. New York was again very cold and wet. We were grateful that this was the end of our time and not the start. I have never seen so much traffic built up with cars bumper to bumper in 6 lanes for around 3km on their way onto …
Day 20 - First full day of Cancun
What can we say? Sun, water, blue skies, free food, free alcohol. Beautiful morning, slightly cloudy afternoon, with late rain (how's that for a weather report). The girls all got their hair braided and did some painting of various ceramic items that we bought - some very crafty work indeed.
We finally got to have our first sleep in of the …
Day 21 - Cancun 2nd day
This morning we awoke to cloudy skies, but still warm. There had been some good rain overnight, but it was not raining when we had our breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the ocean. After brekky, the kids went on the water slides etc, whilst the adults found a spare cabana with lounges & generally took it all very easy sipping on cocktails …
Day 22 - Cancun 3rd day
This morning we decided to have a full day of just swimming & enjoying the facilities at the resort.
So that's exactly what we did.
To start things off we were just lazing around the pool mid morning when there was a competition to guess the number of small nuts in a plastic cup. We all had a go at guessing, and so did everyone …
Day 23 - Cancun 4th day
The menu for today was pretty much as the same as yesterday - Relaxing, swimming, cocktails, water-sliding, kipping & a few more cocktails.
Laura was very keen for us to all be up early this morning so that she could maximise swimming & water-sliding time, so we were out of our room and having breakfast by around 8.30. The rest of …

A truly disgusting all inclusive hotel
My wife and I purchased a all inclusive vacation package from apple vacations to this the continental plaza in cancun. The food is disgusting and the service was terrible. We had to eat out to get a decent meal. We paid for our food up front we thought, but the food was not tolerable. The room is mold and mildew infested therefore the smell is unbearable. My wife and I both got sick from the room smell. The air conditioner doesnt blow cold air and the air it does blow is filled with mold and mildew. We are asking for a refund from our travel agent. This trip to the continental plaza was torture for 7 days. Not a good deal at 750per person considering we had buy our food all the time since the food was so bad. Go to this hotel at your own risk.
You get what you pay for!
I was at the Continental Plaza, in early May. The hotel accomadations are reasonable for the price that you pay for it. My only complaints, and this is to help the hotel, was the air conditioning, it did not work well; the door to our room was very shaky(it didn't seem sturdy enough; the plumbing needs a little updating. Please do keep in mind this facility is probably about 20 years old, so these kinds of things are to be expected.
The staff, especially the waiters/servers in all of the restaurants/hotel were exceptional! They were extremely hard working, friendly and helpful(they all deserve a raise!) The food was better than I expected and actually quite tasty.
This is a good place to stay if you are not really concerned about having top notch living quarters, if the hotel would renovate a little, this would be an exceptional place, but once again, for the price we paid(750ea/week/air-fare included), the accomodations were adequate.
If I were to go again to Cancun, I would probably pay a little bit more to stay in a newer facility.(JW Marriot, Sun Palace)
Great time
i stayed at the continental plaza in may, i thought it was very nice. the food was good, the room was very big. the people were very nice. the pool was a little dirty, but i spent most of my time at the beach. it is pretty close to the airport, about 25 min. it was also close to the attractions like a mall which is about 1 block away and very close to senor frogs and a flea market.
my biggest complaint was that the air conditioner was not very cold. but that was ok, as we spent most of our time outdoors.
i thought all in all it was a good place to stay, at a good price. i am going back the second week in july.
All inclusive accomadations
From beginning to end on Apple Vacations, our trip was awesome. I am a 45 yr old female with a 44 yr old female & her 17 yr old son. Fun was had by all ages. Good food
and drinks. Good service and clean big rm.
I few tips here & there & things were even better. The people of MX work hard & give great service. The food was fantastic & the rm was always clean. My only comp. was that the pools got cloudy and not kept very clean. I then resorted to the beautiful ocean which is God's country. All in all I would highly recommend the Continental Plaza for the money. If you want 6 Star, pay the big bucks & get a big fancy rm. You can
have it all at the Continental. I will be back!!Foods-drinks-room-service A+++++++
Worst Hotel to Ever Stay At!!!!
I went for a relaxing vaction to the Continetal Plaza hotel in Cancun with one of my friends and all I recieved was a headache. We went to this hotel at the end of May 2002 and the first night that we were there we were robbied. The locks on the doors did not work because they were completly rusted through so if you pulled on the door it would just come open. My friend and I lost all of our identification, credit cards, and many other personal belongings. When we told the hotel they did not seem to care at all and it was literally the worse service that I have ever experienced. The hotel did nothing to help us and were completly rude to us. The only help we got was from other Americans. This hotel is extremly unsafe because there were three robberies in three days and that includes the fact that most of the stuff was stolen from the saftey deposit boxes in your room. Not only is this hotel unsafe and unfriendly but all of the service and food is horrible! I should know because after I was robbed at this hotel we had no money to go out and enjoy anywhere else. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL unless you want to lose everything and have a horrible vacation!!!!!
A great Bargain, A Great Place To Stay
Everyone knows the saying, "You get what you paid
for," well you get a lot from the Continental Plaza Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. I stayed there two weeks ago and I really liked the options for dining. This is an All-Inclusive Resort so the food is very important when you stay a full week, seven nights and eight days on your vacation. You know that you will be eating most meals at one place so options and variety is very IMPORTANT.
The Continental Plaza has a lot to offer. They have one Italian Restaurant, a Mexican Restaurant a Buffet Restaurant and another that serves numerous fish Entrees such as Grouper, Red Snapper or Shrimp. Everyone likes a Good Deal and I can assure you that the Continental Plaza is. This was my 6th vacation to Cancun so I am very familiar
with Cancun. After one full week I never was tired
of eating there because I continued to go from one
place to the next without ever leaving my Hotel. My favorite was the Italian Restaurant but I liked
them all. I highly recommend this Hotel and can
assure you that you get a lot for a very fair price and am very confident anyone else would find this Hotel a Great Value!!!
Great place to stay!
I stayed at the Continental Plaza with my boyfriend for a week in late April. The hotel was very clean, the rooms were more than comfortable and very spacious. Service was instant and always given with a smile! The pool area was entertaining with a variety of activities and the ocean just a dream. I suggest anyone who is looking for a great vacation at a reasonable price stay here and have a great time.
It is what you make of it
On April 23,2002 my wife and I (30 yrs old)and 9 of are friends went to cancun to enjoy a all inclusive vacation package purchased through funjet travel. The food that was included in the package was nothing to brag about but we had an excellent time. Lomas travel helped us book a bar hop package for $50 per person and it was just like you see on MTV in was great. We walked the beaches until 4:30 in the morning and felt very safe the whole time. The sun is very intense make sure you wear sun screen.(ha,ha)
Continental Plaza Cancun: EXCELLENT
The Continental Plaza in Cancun is an excellent choice. The last person who reviewed this resort was very negative. The drinks were fine. I dont know how you can water down a shot of tequila. They will give you what you ask for. Especially if you go all inclusive. Everything is included, so you can drink as much as you like. You can eat as much as you like. I just returned from there 4/29/02 and I had a terrific stay. This was my second time visiting Cancun and I couldnt have asked for more. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. The food was great. I didnt like everything (octopus), but there was a wide variety of things to choose from. If you love breakfast, the omlette station wad magnificient. The wait staff was very fast and always willing to make things as comfortable as possible. For example: I was getting ready to eat a slice of cheesecake. I didnt have a fork and without me saying a word, one of the waiters placed a fork by my side. I thought that was great. The beach area was great. It was very comfortable and the waves were terrific. I rented a boogie board one day for $6 and rode the waves all day!!! I cant forget the nightly entertainment and theater shows. They were fabulous. I traveled to Cancun with just my mother. She had previously gone to Cancun and stayed at the Royal Solaris. She said she enjoyed Continental Plaza much better.
Bad place
I stayed at the Continental V. Plaza for 8 days. We had the
all inclusive option, (which I don't recomend) and had a terrible time. The food was almost not edible and the service was not good at all. I witnessed the guy flipping burgers by the pool wipe the sweat off his forehead and the wipe the grease off his spatula with the same rag. The drinks had bottom shelf no name liquor in them and the frozen drinks were terrible. I don't know how this Hotel got 4 stars. All I did was wait on lines. At the bars, at check-in, at check-out. They only had 2 people who spoke very little english checking in and out 2 bus loads of guest. I called for 3 days to get a remote for my TV which did not work when it finally arrived. The air conditioner in the room was not great. When we called room service they only allowed 1 item per person in the room. This was an all inclusive option and you couldn't order a dessert with your dinner??? We had 3 people in the room and they would only give us 2 keys. One night my friend came back early and they wouldn't let him in unless he gave the security guard $30.00.
The only positive thing about the hotel was that is was clean. Except for the ants in our room the last day.
