My skin has never been so moist LOL

Well everyone for the wedding has arrived safe and sound in Mexico. None of us had any problems getting here and zero problems at the airport. It couldn't have gone any better! I was a bit nervous as most of you know because I had to go through Mexican security with all my luggage destin for Cuba including 3/4 of a suitcase full of medical supplies. I knew that the airports in Mexico have buttons that you push and they are completely random. If you push the button and it goes green you are go...

Ruin on the Ocean

... br>
We stopped here to see Tulum which is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city. The ruins are located on a 39 feet (12-meter) cliffs, along the east coast of the peninsula. In order to get to the ruins from the town, we picked up a local bus for the 10 minute ride and then walked to the site and around for a total of 5 miles during the afternoon.

I have included pictures of ...

... a certain meal at a certain Italian restaurant, and a certain seriously undercooked chicken dish. Though I only remember having one small bite, obviously that one bite was enough, and I probably infected myself with Salmonella. Yay.)

When I wasn't getting any better, Mario took it upon himself to recruit some outside help, in the form of the on-site Doctor, who runs the little pharmacy. She gave me a shot in the butt to stop the vomiting ...

Relax, relax, relax

... the pool have have once been a part of the hotel complex, and then incorporated into the decor. Our meal was delicious, but served to us all too quickly. Our soup bowls were still on the table, spoons having barely touched down, and our main course was coming out of the kitchen! Yikes! Feeling slightly rushed, I ate much too quickly. I did enjoy the meal, though especially the chimichangas made of zucchini ...

Ya Kul Lagoon and Akumal try

... side of the busy highway for the walk down to beaches. Walked from highway to arches, about 3/4 of a km. There we took a cab to Ya Kul Lagoon (cost $60 pesos). At the lagoon paid the $80 peso each admission. Also rented a locker for $50 pesos. Snorkeled around the lagoon for about and hour and half. We saw lots of fish and a stingray. We tried to make it out to islands where the ...

I Have The Shits

... The ruins themselves arent all that impressive, but the etting on the coast is amazing. Rather than paying for a taxi to get there, we decided to wal along the roks by the beach to get there, and we ended up climbing over a wall to get in through the back, so didnt have to pay. Nice. We spent ost of the day chiling by the beach just by the ruins, which was beautiful. Weve just come back and had dinner, and are now off t play some poker hopefully. Until next time, adiosª

... We jumped in and snorkeled around the area, taking photographs with the underwater bag on Jule's camera. We didn't go inside the cenotes. The cenotes are underground caves that the river runs through. The Yucatan is largely limestone and underground rivers have carved out these caverns, called cenotes. As much as it looked good, I could not bring myself to snorkel into and through the caves, so we rather stuck to the main river.

... so quaint and lovely. It was even more laid-back than I expected and it was cool that you could go anywhere in your bare feet if you wanted to. That is what I call an easy, relaxing vacation! We had dinner at the main restaurant and it was decent. We enjoyed the grouper most. Then we hung out and got a few drinks. We probably went to bed around 10 or 11pm completely exhausted from our travel. We planned to wake up early and go to Tulum (free on Sundays!) to see the ruins and ...

Day 5 - Our Own Private Beach

... is run in February. The temp for this years race was a whopping 29 degrees, a good 15 degrees below ideal. And I wasn't wearing a backpack full of 'agua purificada', sunscreen, and blankets. And I hadn't pre-hydrated with margarita's and Sol, nor carbo-loaded with lobster and guac. So let's just say I wasn't exactly in 'marathon form' for today's little jaunt. So we decide to cut over to the beach right around Posada ...

Day 4 - The Perfect Beach

... than this! But we will try. We owe that much to those reading these very words! After some more baking in the sun, and another good swimming workout ;-) we decide to head back to Copal, shower and head into town for dinner. Tonight we decide on Don Karonte. I can't recall if this was another map suggestion, or something I read on the boards. Either way, we're there. But first we stop at the curb to check out some Langosta that ...
