... relatively new archeological dig on the side of the road. It's amazing. Everywhere you turn there's another piece of history unfolding. We decide to attend the museum of archeology. . It's rumoured to have some of the best preserved Minoan artifacts. They got more than enough. Gold jewelry, tools, lamps, toys, figurines - and clay pots big enough to bury everything And apparently you CAN "take it with you". Some guy's sarcophagus contained two ...

... water's surface. There was another ferry also going to Crete 5 minutes before ours so we were able to see the plumes of spray rising up from the engines of the other boat and knew we were flying. Yet, the smoothness and quietness of the engines made it seem like we were just pulling out of port at minimum speed. It was an amazing way to spend the two hour commute to Crete. So, we ended our stay in Santorini and we'll be dreaming of a way to get back there as soon as we ...

Transferring from my camera to the Mac in the lab is easy. Getting them onto my iPad is not. If I use iTunes I have to use my satellite time. They have to be sent as an email attachment ...

... ate a big lunch of grilled octopus, stuffed calamari, and a variety of Greek dips and bread, drank a bottle of Prosecco, and even had the town's best gelato as a treat to ourselves for making the hike to Oia (so much for burning off all of those calories). We did not torture ourselves to hike back to Fira, there was a public bus that took us :) We met dad & Lisa who had a relaxing day touring the island by boat and bus, and bragged to them all night about our hike!

          Weather: glorious. Slip, slop, slap.
6.30am arrived at the Island of Crete where we disembarked at Ag. Nikolaos (means Saint Nicholas) where Olive Oil products are paramount. The Cretan diet is known as one of the healthiest diets in the world (1/3 largest).
We did a tour of the Palace of Knossos where the Monoan Civilization thrived in the Bronze age (roughly 3,000 BC) within the Aegean. The palace was ...
