Our stay at the El Dorado Seaside Suites was simply fantastic!!!! The staff was wonderful which is what always makes the stay better. We arrived before check-in time and were exhausted from the long flight. They immediately offered us a place to change our clothing and store our luggage. This allowed us to relax on the beach with a cold drink until our room was ready. I don't think I have ever had any hotel make quick accommodations when we arrived early!!! It helped start our vacation on a positive note. During our entire stay we had the same concierge tend to all of our needs while at our room. He made sure to call us by name every time he saw us and was quick to respond if we were in need of anything. The best part was when we first arrived to our room and being able to look out our back door, sit in the hammock, and enjoy watching the waves on the beach. It gave the word "relaxation" a whole new meaning. The atmosphere was very calm and tranquil as it was an adult only resort. There was a choice of cuisine, three different genres of restaurants available and we tried each. The beach was set up for complete relaxation as lounge chairs and canopy beds were set up at a nice distance that allowed for privacy. As we relaxed on the beach drinks were brought to us as we were always catered to and never had to want for anything. The evenings were fantastic!!! Every night there was new entertainment; couples games, comedians, live music, and so on. The nightly entertainment was outdoors with the bar near, couple's swings, and padded patio furniture provided for our comfort. We loved that everything (restaurants, spa, entertainment, etc.) was available on the site and we really didn't have to leave unless we wanted to explore. When we were ready to explore Funjet had a travel station positioned outside just a few steps away. We loved it!!! We will be there again soon.

          ... ruins - very untidy.

We continued to follow Francisco's advice, and, at about 1600, arrived at "Hacienda Sotuta de Peon". a sisal factory still in operation, with a restaurant, hotel and museum. We were too late to go on one of the guided tours, but were permitted to wander about if we ate at their restaurant - a no-brainer really! We had a splendid four course, traditional meal - the best so far. Stuffed to the gills, we were tempted ...

          First day of training

... the harbour was closed and it was impossible to go diving in open water. So the new plan was to complete all 5 confined dives in the first day.
I had a short siesta before continuing the training. There was a dolphinarium near the dive centre and I had some tacos while watching dolphins perform tricks and interact with trainers. After the lunch I went back, which was not easy in such heat and after a big meal. But I made it and completed the final dives. ...

... do you want it or not. Apparently not. We then called it a night via dominos where we paid $20 for a pizza or should I day Hugh did. We ended up getting home at sunrise to which we literally sat in bed all day watching TV and talking. Very relaxed day indeed, air con will do that to you. It was still a ripping night, just a downer towards the end. We also met a cool welsh man and his girl friend, guy was James and girl is still unknown. Not much happened ...

... Emily, this afternoon, talking to the camera. Wait... WHAT? This is pre-arranged???? I had to show my talent somewhere this afternoon in order to be on stage tonight? I guess that's the sad part about a resort so big, you can't always be at the right spot at the right time. Oh well, there's always karaoke after! Unfortunately, the 2nd talent act - a canadian magician - took the stage for over half hour (whereas Emily sang two songs only) so they ran out of time and only ...

... walk back to our room: I have had only 4 small beers, and Sabrina had nothing. So imagine our surprise when - not drunk - we encounter a few geckos, a cat, a baby raccoon, and a spider that walks so fast I squeal all the way back into our room.

For some reason, only my iPad can connect to Wifi, so unfortunately I cannot upload the pics I took with my iPhone - and I probably won't always carry my iPad with me all around. You'll have to wait for my return to see most pics!
