Ruin on the Ocean

We made our way over the ferry and to the bus station for the 1-1/2 hour ride south to “Tulum Pueblo.” Just several years ago, this was a quiet village 1.5 miles (2 km) from the famous archaeological site. As of 2005, the population of Tulum Pueblo has grown to over 10,000 permanent inhabitants (including expats from around the world), but It still has the feel of a small Mexican ...

Holiday week 2008 in Chan Chemuyil

... early and went out to clean up from Festivus. The late nighters did a great job and most of the trash was already bagged up. Neil strolled over and helped carry the bags over to the dumpsters. We ran into other neighbors and started telling stories about all the fun we had at the party. We were only here two full days and had already met so many new friends and created so many memories. We planned to do some early shopping for the casa today followed by an ...

... drink - the Red Cactus margarita ($8). It is made with nectar from hibiscus. I can't find hibiscus juice anywhere - and believe me, I've looked for this stuff. It is so light and refreshing. The sky over Tulum beach was purple, pink and blue as we finished off the evening with a mango ice cream dessert. Wednesday, September 10 - Chris woke up and painted the additional accent colors on the exterior. I ran to Tulum and paid the electricity bill at CFE. I showed them ...

... Our next stop was Vidriosoplado - the blown glass shop in PDC. I loved just about everything in this store! I only spent $56 but I got a lot for my money including 4 confetti martini glasses, 4 tall confetti glasses, 4 cobalt blue tumblers, 1 large round cobalt fruit bowl and 1 large square candle holder that is clear with blue glaze running through it. We decided more shopping for the house needed to be accomplished, so we went to Wal-Mart in Playa. I was looking for ...

Chapter 1: My Journey East

... inform him I made the connection, no problem - he had previously told me he didn't think I would have time to make it! Ha! As the ticket agent had reconfirmed the travel time of 2l-21.5 hours with only three stops, I told Vidal to pick me up at 6 o'clock am the following day in Playa del Carmen. The bus departed right on schedule at 8:30am. I had reserved a window seat on the right side, and as the bus never got more than 75% full, the seat ...

... hienosti. Alunperin Mexico valittiin matkakohteeksemme ...

... room for dessert, and Chris and I split the Tiramisu and I order a cappuccino. Corinne also orders a cappuccino and the both arrive in rather large Santa Claus mugs! It brings a little bit of Christmas to the 'Roo in May. There was a little bit of rain on and off during our dinner, but the food was all stellar as always. We return to Copal, and while it is a little bit cooler than last night, I suppose I am too stuffed to sleep.

... fruit plate, which was actually a larger portion of food than I received. After lunch we head back down to the beach for some more reading. I was finishing a copy of "Where the Sky is Born" which was sent to me by Allison (aj8830) right before we left. This was given to her by Kai (elViejo) at the Austin Loco Gringo par-tay back in April. It's an awesome book about a couple (the author and her husband) who travel to and fall in ...

It looked shady and inviting, but (we felt) lacking the hoped for intelligent sea mammals. A man stepped out of the shadows and approached the car. He had aviator shade on his forehead and wore a checked western shirt. He engaged in a brief conversation with our driver, occasionally ...
