Today was a relatively short ride down from Briançon, up and over Col d'Izoard and then a long gentle valley road to Guillestre.

The restaurant 'Spirit' hosted a folk group that travels throughout France by tractor. We clearly picked the place to stay in Briançon that had a bit of life to it. The only disadvantage was that it was quite noisy in our room for all the French chat downstairs in the bar.

... got better as we left behind the cloud cover on the top of the mountain, and the sun brought welcome relief from the freezing cold.
Once past the twisty bits, there is a long straight slightly undulating stretch that is perfect for tandems, and we were able to settle into a comfortable 35 kph and enjoy the scenery.
