Third, the time spent on the bus and walking with our tour guide was hours of information that a blog can't capture either. He was filled with so much history and current events. ...

I've had a great week getting to see Charlie every day! I met him and David at the airport and Tim and Dad came to meet us for some lunch before our flight also. That was nice, it isn't very often we're all in the same place. Charlie was talkative straight away and whilst I don't think he remembered me, he didn't take long to warm to me :) He is coming out with some funny things now, telling his dad that he's waring me out, after a few steps explaining that his ...
... our coats, our jackets, our shirts (we had undershirts and extra shirts) and our socks. EEEWWWW...WET FEET. I hate that squishy feeling. And then the last scary ride that Marco and I rode was the Drop Ride to Doom, I normally don't have a fear of heights but I've never ridden one of these so yes I was sweating..palms and all. It's a good thing that didn't stop me from waiting in line because now its one of my favorite rides ever, I got over that funny feeling ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Club Med Sandpiper Bay Port Saint Lucie
A great week
Was at Sandpiper 8/23-8/30/03 with my son and had a wonderful time, with perfect weather. Mostly families there, but enough single parents for company, and most people were very friendly. The teen club was a winner with my son, who mostly played golf, but enjoyed having meals and fun with the other kids. Food was quite good, with an unbelievable selection, but don't bother with the reservations-only restaurant, which was a dissapointment. I would go back again, but only with my son - it's not for singles.
Club Med Sandpiper was good but don't go there for the food or just to relax. The food was average at best and sometimes cold. Unless you get a room in building A, your room is far away from the center where the only restaurant and bar are. They desperately need a bar next to the adult pool, or you'll walk a good ways for drinks or snacks. This is not great in the Florida summer heat-especially after a work out. The non-alternative is a $1.50 for the sold out water bottle machine. So much for all inclusive. Then you wait to be served at the bar. Unless you put the kids in camp at meal-time, they often seat you in the back of a huge dining room. From there, you walk through sometimes pure chaos to serve yourself and your younger children from buffets on the other side. If you want a warm meal, be prepared to wait in line. So, don't expect much convenience for your dollar, 'cause it's not there. On the plus side, this seems ideal for the parent who wants to ditch the kids for golf, tennis or the other activities. Instruction is included. The rooms were comfortable. The Saint-Lucie River area is magnificent and the water sports are great there.
Met a real nice family fom Brick NJ there
Me and the boys had a great time. Had passed up on Sandpiper for many years and opted for other club meds in the carribean and Mexico. What a suprise, great food, awesome staff, and lots to do. As possibly one of the few single parents there with the kids, there was hardly a dull moment. Will say that of all the clubs I have been to, this GO staff was by far the friendliest and the best. The kids prefer Club Med over Disney anytime. To my neighbors from brick, if you see this, email me.
Lets get together one weekend.
My best vacation!!
I just got back from Club Med on July 19th and I can't wait to go back next year! I can not imagine how anyone could give this place a bad review. The kid's club was great, my daughter never wanted to leave. The food was great and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. This is a great place to come if you have kids-my 7 year old went roller-blading, played tennis, sailed, learned how to fly on the trapeze, was in a talent show, a circus show, and in a rock in roll show. Thanks Club Med for a great time!
Loved Club Med
It is a great place for families. The kids loved the day camp and all the activities so the parents could enjoy themselves as well. The food is wonderful and very plentiful buffets. There's enough to do there without leaving the place for a week. Wonderful sports such as tennis, water skiing, sailing and everyone loved the trampoline. The kids put on some great shows and the day camp counsellors are very competent.
All in all, a great vacation. Highly recommend!
Menorial Day - No Good
Please don't brother spending the money - over 800 people and nothing to do!! Water skiing is including - but only once in a 24 hour period. Love to say NO to thier guest! No enteriement - bar too crowded with the staff and hard for guest to get a drink - always competing eith the staff for events - seat in the dining room and drimks at the bar! Worst vacation - Stay home Club Med is TERRIBILE
Great family vacation
We had a wonderful vacation at Club Med Sandpiper and do not understand
all the griping of the two recent reviews. We have two young children
(1 and 3 years) and this is a perfect vacation for them. We had
adjoining rooms which were clean and spacious, the staff was friendly
and accomodating and the kids club staff were great. We almost did not
book the trip based on the bug review, but luckily a friend had
recently visited and said it just wasn't so. I also did not see lots of
add on charges, except for things you would expect such as excursions,

Not a Very clean resort - Staff is not very helpful and love to balme everyone else, You are on your own and everything is not included, every time you turn around there is something else not included. When we too our Family to the St James Club in St Lucia every thing was included - Would never consider a Club Med again!!
My family and I just returned from the Sandpiper and we had an amazing time there. It is hard to believe that I was at the same club that the reviewer before me reviewed quite negatively! I saw no bugs, did not hear plates crashing to the ground, or experience repeated desserts. I did find the staff to be fun, engaging and the choices of activities to be extraordinary. My 2 children(ages 6 and 2) had a blast in the mini-camps, and were upset when we left after 5 nights to go to Disney...it says a lot about how much fun they had there. Food was generally very good, with a few outstanding dishes and a few forgettable ones. The desserts were especially good, and luckily they offered regular and pool aerobics classes to work them off! The rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. You can not ask for more in a vacation and I highly recommend this place to any family. Even teens have their own club and the ones I saw were having a great time too!
Thankfully it rained only one day and our sons were off with their group to watch a movie and have some down-time in an area that is used for meetings and weddings. My sons had to use the washroom and upon turning on the light, heard hissing and watched about 30 cockroaches, large and small, scurry into a hole underneath a toilet. Made you wonder about the kitchen! Also, at booking of course the jellyfish were not mentioned because who would show up to waterski and play a the small beach if they knew this in advance. There were than just a few and kids were getting stung as they finished waterskiing and had to swim back to shore. That was not a fun part of the trip. During Spring Break the pools were crowded but since we stayed on later, the thinning out was welcomed. We aren't sure what happened to the dessert chef as the same type of desserts were on the menu 4 nights in a row and not kid-friendly and not interesting. The last weekend we finally had a bit better coice - it got a 3 on 10. The buffet area was disorganized - kid-friendly foods, the pizza, burgers, fries and pasta should have been in the same section - not at complete opposite ends. This allowed for kids to be attempting walk all over the place with plates. Not a night went by without here plates falling to the floor. The hight chairs were nasty. They were NOT disinfected because the nasty grime would then have been wiped off so we did not allow our child to eat off the tray. The great thing was the size of the rooms. A+ if you have kids that are on the go. Would I go again,.... probably not.
