      A good place to stay

Mattresses in Thailand including here, are very hard. Probably doesn't bother all the little Thai bodies, but I'm a bigger girl.
The GO's (gentle organizers) are there to run the activities and help facilitate your stay. It was disappointing to note that they tended to entertain people who spoke their own language more, which I guess is the point: sit with them at lunch, talk to them at the bar etc. but I was often on my own as CP and I did our own thing often, and I found that me, whether single, or English speaking, was not approached often, with the exception of Mie who sat with me last night at the bar (CP was in the room feeling unwell). It also would have been nice to hear Unaccented English, there was only one NZer on the GO team and she was with the children, not the adults. Would also have liked to have seen a weekly program similar to that on cruise ships so external activities could be better planner, rather than one day at a time as provided on the boards and screens. Other than that, an extremely enjoyable stay

Convenient & Easy for a family holiday

      Reviewed Aug 3, 2012

This was our first Club Med experience. On arrival we were welcomed with hot towels and ginger tea. We received a much needed tour to orientate ourselves with the resort. The rooms are okay. A little outdated and in need of some TLC. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. We shared 2 attached rooms with our children which was ideal. I don't recommend leaving fresh fruit or food out in the room as ants and other bugs are instantly attracted. The buffet food was bland and redundant. But it was included in our package and convenient with small children. The staff were very welcoming and always there to assist or chat. The Kids Club is wonderful! Great for children to socialize and stay busy with activities. The staff and kids club are very flexible. Kids can go every day or decide the morning of if they want to go. The pool was clean and warm. I recommend picking out a few lounge chairs on your way to breakfast as they fill up fast.

The club is close to a local shopping area with small restaurants and shops. Most tourist/site seeing activities are at least a 30 minute drive. We utilized the free snorkeling Club Med offered, but it was a long bus ride than a long boat ride just to snorkel for 30 minutes. The reef wasn't very colorful and few fish were seen. To access the beach you have to cross a busy road with lots of solicitors looking to sell their wares/services. Plan to take extra caution with your valuables. We did hire a babysitter to watch our 6 month old and she was very caring and responsible. The Club can make arrangements for you. We did get a stomach illness and went to the onsite nurse. She prescribed some medicine but was adamant we didn't have food poisoning. Not sure if I agree but I recommend eating the raw salmon with caution.
I recommend this resort to families. If you are a single couple I would probably stay elsewhere.

On Tuesday we visited the Kok Chang Safari with a group of people who regularly post on Trip Advisor, Sunsets'r'Us, with Sunsets'r’Us (Lee and Trevor), Max’n’Max (Max and Maxine) and Anne, Dave and Matt. (I hope I got the names right).

We had a terrific day, in my opinion the best we had in Phuket. The weather was great, …

Not too much to write today - we felt like a lazy day and that is exactly what we had.

We caught a tuk tuk to Karon Beach to visit the Karon Beach Market - like everywhere in Phuket it was hot, hot, hot! but a good market all the same.

We continued back into Patong to spend more time at the Otop Markets. We used this time to …

Sadly, today was our last day :(

On Thursday we wandered down to have a look at the Kata Beach Resort and the Kata Palm Resort. We were already making plans to come back and trying to find somewhere to stay.

While we throughly enjoyed Club Med, it is not really good value due to the incredibly cheap price of eating out in Phuket. …

Day 6 - Scuba and Shopping

A travel blog entry by djh1959 on Apr 09, 2007

Today we had booked to do scuba diving with Megumi from Phuket Pro Dive and Sail.

Megumi started by explaining the mechanics of scuba diving and how to breathe and so on. I have to say that she scared me witless with this and I wasn't really looking forward to the experience. The kids, however, very much were!

      We were taken to …

Today, Sunday, was spent with John Grae Sea Canoe on Phang Nga Bay.

What a spectacular way to spend a day. As previous reviews have said, the staff just
go out of their way to make it enjoyable.

The day started with us being picked up at our resort in a minibus and taken on around a one hour drive to the Ao Po pier, where the …
