Today I was so excited about starting our vacation that I woke up at 4:30am and then couldn't get back to sleep for a few hours. Fortunately there is air conditioning in the room, but it's already starting to make me sick (sore throat, etc.) so I need to figure out how to keep it low enough to keep it cool enough inside but not make us sick. Today Leanna and I got a really late start to our day, due to the fact that we were too tired to get out of bed! Knowing that I was wasting a beautiful sunny day away, I finally forced myself to roll out of bed around 10:15am and get into the shower. By the time we were ready to start our day, it was about 11:30am, so we had missed breakfast, and lunch didn't start until 12:30. This morning I woke up with a bit more of a sore throat and the "sniffles" than I had on the second day we were here. It's from the air conditioning in the room, which I'm trying to keep to a minimum but it's still getting to me. Leanna, who I'm sharing a bed with, says she isn't feeling sick at all, so I think it's just because I'm lying right underneath the vent on the wall where the cold air comes out of. [note: this was actually written on Jan. 6th] Saturday, January 5th was fairly unmomentous and so I didn't bother writing yesterday - plus I was feeling too sick (head cold) to bring myself to the computer at the end of the day. Today was our last day here in this rainy/sunny tropical paradise. I wasn't looking forward to going back to our rainy, snowy, cold Canada and wanted to make the most of the day, with the hope of some co-operation from the weather. This trip to the dominican was with my undergrad friends at the University of Ottawa (Caen and Justin Suni, Chris and Graham Hilton, Chris Smith, Raphael Rodriguez, Adam Brown, Apoorve Chokshi, Natalie Seniuk, Ashley, Annie Lacroix, and Gen Brown.
